Did Ayu Really Apologize for her performance on Best Artist?

I saw this on あらま!:

Ayumi Hamasaki apologizes for evolution performance at Best Artist 2009
http://i46.tinypic.com/taswnd.jpg

Ayumi Hamasaki apologizes for her evolution performance at Best Artist 2009 in a message posted in her fanclub. Here is the translation of that entry.

"For me as a singer, today's evolution was for me my personal worst.
There is no excuse. At any rate, it's mortifying. I'm sorry.
It seems like I've still got a lot to work on. I've really got to pull it together."

They're asking if it's true or made up.
It's true, she posted an entry in TA about it.

zyoeru 17th December 2009 11:51 PM

Yes she did apologize, isn't that obvious? XD

IYFreak 17th December 2009 11:54 PM

idk cause theres not really a source at that website when I click the link....so it wasn't that obvious I thought someone made it up.

Kingdom 17th December 2009 11:58 PM

that is cool that she sees there is still work to be done in her career and that even the top artists make mistakes and have bad performances, and need to work harder

kudos, ayu

pommy48 18th December 2009 12:01 AM

Well people can't put a direct link to TeamAyu, you have to be a member to read those entries~ But she did apologize

I think walking.proud posted the original text?

awww, I knew ayu should've made a Anniervsary ver. of Evolution, so that its a better version suited for her voice now, since it's changed alot since 8 years ago.

Please, I'm praying for an 11th Anniversary Version.

PoetGirl 18th December 2009 12:22 AM

thats really sweet of her. respect!

SURREAL__RAINBOW 18th December 2009 12:24 AM

She is right, she gotta pull it together once and for all. First time that she sings THIS bad THIS song that she's been singing since ever, and forgetting the lyrics didn't help a bit.

She needs some singing lessons or something that might also help her to get use to having only one ear working.

I'm not judging her like many of the people in this forum does, I'm just being objective, because I ain't gonna show that performance to my mom even that she loves ayu because it's soo embarrasing. First time, and I hope the last time.

EDIT: btw both You were... performances that she did were okay. She didn't have to force it that much thou.

Miduhyo 18th December 2009 01:04 AM

Wow... Evolution. That was... definitely rough to watch but still she is human and i'm positive she has good days and bad days. So Ayu, I'll be supporting and of course you're forgiven!

If it was bad for us... I can't even imagine how bad she feels. But... the audience was still having fun and its not like she just threw the mic down and walked off. She's forgotten lyrics before... I think it was bad, not horrible, but definitely needs to be improved for her voice now.

I hope to see a future performance of this song to see how she's either changed/improved on it!

Kingdom 18th December 2009 01:12 AM

i just watched the performances and i see why she apologized.. that was horrid. wtf? You were was good though.

Aditmi Krisnasaki ~II~ 18th December 2009 01:37 AM

it's okay ayu...
everyone makes mistakes...^^
but it's better if you don't have nose-job anymore (it really affects your vocal...TT)
JK~
LOL
no offense...^^

panda♥ 18th December 2009 01:42 AM

it's probably difficult for her to perform such a high energy song, especially after putting so much power into You were...

i'm not mad or disappointed with her. it's not a big deal, one performance shouldn't ruin anything especially since the number of good/awesome evolution performances outweighs the amount of bad ones.

gothicayu 18th December 2009 01:43 AM

its true her performance was awfull. its really sweet she apologyze to the fan. i guess there is some songs she can't sing anymore because her voice changed too much.

i think after a ballad she should have choose an other ballad like rainbow voyage or free and easy it would have feel smoother.

Here is the screencap of the message:

That is the ultimate comfirmation, i can't do anything more XD

prussian blue 18th December 2009 02:25 AM

after reading this thread, i watched the video, i dont think its a major problem, seriously :shrug

she used to forget her lyrics a lot of time, like, cmon, this is not the first time, right? but good that she apologize.

just wonder, did she ever apologize for forgetting her lyrics in the past?

nanakopy87 18th December 2009 02:31 AM

she's not only forgetting the lyrics.she actually can't catch up the music at the beginning of the song,IMO.

She has, but I think this time she was apologizing for not only that but also her vocals which were very, very weak in that performance.

AyUta 18th December 2009 02:40 AM

Well, it's rare for an artist to aplologize for a bad performance. Makes her unique, as some have said.

i realize that too, the music seems to be a bit faster than normal, idk. yea,may be it's the time she do a 11th anniversary of Evolution :D

btw, i like how she always say thank you to everyone, she didn't forget to appreciate others :)

Kazeyomi 18th December 2009 03:23 AM

Ayu is a true artist.
I mean, she take care of her fans :yes and that makes me appreciate her more, now :3

alternarist 18th December 2009 03:27 AM

that performance was really bad in terms of her "forgetfulness". She forgot quite a chunk of lyrics and was jus singing repeated lyrics LOL.

visionfactory 18th December 2009 05:19 AM

I felt really dissapointed with this evolution performance so I'm glad she apologized about this :o

behwatch 18th December 2009 04:02 PM

One thing I notice is the sennheiser microphone she is using. Senn has a problem to emphasize too much bass thats why I didnt buy it. And she is already so used to her sony mics. Mics does make a huge difference. :)

But I can hear her weak voice from the start. "You were..." was a little too heavy due mainly to the mic I believed. You can see 2 girls crying from the clip though which means sound isnt everything :)

Ayusan 18th December 2009 05:33 PM

I'm showing every new Ayu things to a girl I met not so long ago, she seems very interested by Ayu which makes very happy but even if I showed her you were... at music station I totally skipped Best artist, I'm feeling too awkward to show "that". Myself I have been so damn shocked. Plus I preder the version of Music station for you were... less " I will scream as much I can "

The lyrics wasn't a prob but the singing and the out of breath was shocking ! I'm rather shocked although it's not her first very bad performance.

Chiharo 18th December 2009 07:52 PM

So where can I watch this performance? xD.

same here. She can't pull it off anymore, sadly. Although, I used to think she had days she sang perfectly all the time but it's not true. Her voice has always been kinda unstable and it has changed so much. Best era vocalwise was 2003-2004 for me. Then it went downhill. Vocal is about the most important part of music, so it's getting less interesting for me to listen to her new stuff.

the evo performance..... god. I don't know why but ever since she went deaf on one ear her singing went worse and the deafness is supposedly the cause, but in You were she can definitely still sing beautifully, it's more a breath problem??? I mean in evo it's like she's trying to run a marathon while singing evo. But you can hear the crowd sing more and more as Ayu fails more. The Japanese fans will never abandon her cos she's been there forever. So no matter how bad, she'll always get positive comments XD

Ayu_no_tenshi 19th December 2009 01:29 AM

she even apologized mid-performance....before the TA post.
