AYU ALBUM PROJECT?!!!!
 

Hi guys, I'm usually a lurker here at AHS but after the success of A WORLD IS ONE fanbook and the DVD project-I've thought of another project we could do.

My idea is that for Ayu's next B-DAY, we give her all the albums from ASFXX-whatever new album she released this year. The difference is, it will be our vocals instead.

This is a tentative outline i've made up.

Here are the albums we will include (I say we disregard remix album because it'll just get too complicated)

[NEW ALBUM]

Then we divide the songs (only original mix) from these albums into 3 categories

1.Songs with legit instrumentals
2.Songs without instrumentals but have instrumental midi (like those Orgel/ piano ones)
3.Song with either

FOR 1. Everyone can submit their cover of the song. But you must use ayu's instrumental. Try to get as clear a recording as possible (perhaps all at 320kbps and with no outside noises, buzzing, etc) Each person can submit one cover per every song. At the end of the submission period, we can hold numerous polls and whoever's version gets the most votes gets to be included in the CD.

FOR2. I'm a little unsure about this. I was thinking either narrations, or rewrite the lyrics in your own language and sing it (since there won't be any preexisting backup vocals). For narration, everyone can write spoken accompaniment to the midi and we'll do the whole polling thing. For the latter, you have to provide a translation of the lyrics and we'll do the polling thing again. For both of these cases, we must pick which midi we will use first – so there won't be any timing confusion. Same with the 320kbps rule

FOR3. For the musicians! You can use own instruments and record a cover. I can only submit ONE file per every song, so decide whether you want to sing in it or not. Same with the 320kbps rule

SPECIAL CASES... For songs like Who, My All, Red Line, it'd be really great if we can do the choir thing. Also, for fun songs like Boys & Girls, we can do the whole back and forth between audience and ayu, except reversed! The parts she usually makes us sing, we'll keep her vocal, her parts, we'll sing.
If this project manages to take off, we'll do a polling of which songs we'll sing in choir form (in addition to the individual cover.)
For the album art, etc -my idea is to replicate it but we draw it (whether using CG or hand-drawn) and where we usually has the lyrics, we'll put in the sing/musician of each respective song and a tiny bio for each of them. Naturally, for the ones in different languages, there'll be a translation of the lyrics in ***/ENG.

In the end, when we've decided on whose covers and all, we'll get them onto their respective album, make the cover art and booklet and send all the albums to ayu along with a book describing what it is and why we did it, and etc!

Obviously, this requires a lot of planning and teamwork and dedication.

First of all, I'd like to know whether you guys are interested in this idea.

If yes, then I'd say we figure out the categories and then set a date for submissions. Once ayu's b-day is Oct 2. I was thinking we stop accepting submissions by beginning of August, that way, we can go through all the polling and the booklet design and packaging.

So yeah, let me know what you think!!

PS. All of the details are tentative---much of it still need to be figured out.
Also, it's be great if we can get some people in charge of the various aspects of this project.

I have to say I think I would love to hear a group of fans sing A Song for XX or Who... altogether, even a-capella. Studio recording sessions aren't that expensive, so maybe a group could get together somewhere and record it neatly. Even if it was just one song recorded like that, I think it would really shine through :yes

Even though, I think it's difficult the choir thing... moreover I wonder if there will be as members as ayu's songs...

Interesting, but I think there should be a limit that every person can only get one singing role in the finished product. If we don't do that all will be shared over 10 good singers or something. And the recordings in 320k? Sorry, but thats ********. In the quality most users microphones record there is absolutely no difference between 128k and 320k, you can't hear one unless you record on really professional microphones and when mixing it with the instrumental even that will be undetectable.

And another thing: I think we shouldn't care too much for finding good singers, if there's off notes, not problem, as long as the overall product is more or less enjoyable. If it sounds too polished by only having the best singers of this forum the "real" aspect will be gone.

I'll keep an eye on this, I want to participate.

^that's true, but if we have 10 dearest/hanabi covers (that's what will happen, because in every karaoke contest here there's some songs that are always sung) how we decide which of these covers goes to the album?? with a poll... and what will users vote?? the best one...

Nice... though i'd prefer a compilation with just 10-12 tracks from all albums... First a competition among all entries too decide which tracks get to be in the album, and then another contest for the fan-made cover

The only thing is--I disagree with Idea's post. I think we all want good singers to get this job done, right? If we have polished and beautiful sounding singers, we want Ayu to hear those people professionally singing the songs to her, right?
Also, I do agree with the above post. I don't think using the whole discography is a good idea.

Of course, if we do use all the albums, we'll have to take into consideration the numbers of all this. Twelve albums... That's about 150 songs. And even say each person sings up to three different songs, that would mean we still need about fifty singers... That's a lot, if we want all the singers to be "good". :\ Then again, if everybody's okay with having a few amazing singers, a few average, and then a few eh singers, guess it doesn't matter. Or if everybody's okay with having some people sing about five songs, so that we have more.."pleasant"..tracks...but some people would probably get upset by that.
Either way, I think it'd be best to vote on, maybe, one to three albums of it or something. Make a huge best of for fan covers. :)

and as I said, judging for the participation in the Karaoke contest, I don't think all songs would have someone covering it... I think it would be better to make a poll with all ayu's dicogaphy asking which songs should be covered for this project... then people send their covers and make polls for the best ones for every song ^^

EDIT: I agree with ageha... If we have good singers I will vote for them... but maybe... to avoid having 50% track sung by the same user I would limit to 3-4 the number of covers by person.

moreover... it's not because I'm doing it... but the A WORLD IS ONE DVD project needs a lot of dedication, I'm happy cause a lot of people wants to participate... but some users already had the idea of a bonus DVD that would include covers, peopel singing who all togehter... I don't know if we should start another project, even though I think the result would turn out nice ^^

To be honest, I don't think that we need yet another project, as there should be a limit to everything :)

I was gonna post something like this... It's basically like since We've already got one project going on, It'll be hard to be able to keep up with two at the same time :)... Great idea.. However if we're already working on one project atleast we should get it finished before doing another... Or else theres a possibility none of them will get finished.

Okay, this is gonna sound stupid, but..... What's the other project? The only other thing I know about is the remix contest, but that's a contest, not a "project".

^ the DVD with fan messages (another thing we don't really need). The original purpose of the fan book was for us to show Ayu that we exist and care about her, we made our point xD I don't really think that everything else is necessary and at this point I think this is just pushing stuff a bit too far? at least in my opinion :) After all who knows when will the next chance for international fans to meet her occur :) We have managed to reach her with the book, but this is all too much~

Oh. Yeah. This is getting to be a lot, then, huh? ^_^' Well, honestly, I don't think the DVD is needed (not that this is, either--but then again, neither was the book, hah), but this still sounds like fun. We can make it into another karaoke contest sort of thing, only we'll choose more than one winner and make an album out of it. And then if we have another chance to give Ayu a present in the future, we can make this CD......
I guess I just want more karaoke contests, more than anything, lol. XD (I just think it's a lot of fun, and something neat for the forum to do together. I don't even care if there aren't any prizes.)

Say to all who couldn't send a letter for the book if it's necessary the new project. Of course our lives doesn't depend on this project, but we want to have fun and give ayu a special present. Maybe you don't want to participate, but don't say it's unnecessary, it's just another way/chance to show ayu how many fans she has outside Japan/asia and a new opportunity to all fans to reach ayu in some way.

We are not doing a new book, it's whole new thing, and it's huge, it has no deadline and the purpose is to collect as many messages as posible, because 160 letter are not the whole international ayu fan community...

I'm not sure if I'm a good singer but I'd love to help with drawing the covers. I drew Ayu from the I Am... cover yesterday and it looks pretty good if I do say so myself xDD

Nice, but that's not for all the fans just for who can sing and that's not great :shrug.
And there are too much project for now imo. For me the book was enough, but oh well.. :D

This sounds interesting :yes I'm not a good singer at all (seriously, I'm awful XD) but I'd love to help draw the covers as well :D I'd love to contribute in some way shape or form >_<

Like i suggested in the original post---i was inspired by the success of the fanbook project. It was just an idea. If you're not interested, you don't have to take part--but i think it's a bit much to say this project is "pointless/repetitive". What if some of the AHS members didn't get to submit their letters for the fanbook and can't particiate in the DVD project because they are shy or don't have a vid-cam? This is simply another opportunity to show Ayu how much we love her and how much we enjoy her music. We're not here to competite whose project is better or bigger. If we do this, it's because we love ayu, not out of duty or anything.

If you can't sing, it's all right, you can do #2 - either narration for other language. Heck you don't even have to sing it yourself. Maybe you can write the lyrics and if someone happens to know your language, they can sing it for you instead. OR if you know how to play an instrument, you can make your own cover The point is NOT to find the best singers or pick the one who is the most talented!

I thought doing polls would be the best method because for sure, popular songs are going to get multiple submissions---how do you suppose we decide on which cover we put on the CD? Not everyone likes the same voice or style even. However, if you know another way to do this, please feel free to comment--- Perhaps i've missed some great way.

In terms of songs---yes there are a lot of them and we can certainly consider doing a poll to see which 100 or 50 or 25 songs to cover. But keep in mind that she has or at least in recent albums a lot of interludes... Those won't be covered. The repeat songs in A BEST 1 AND A BEST 2 won't be included either.

Also, this is why the tentative due date is so late. The beginning of August isn't for another SIX MONTHS! And if we do need more time, we can always give this to Ayu as a Christmas present. There is no rush to get things done asap---so we can afford to spend some time. The fanbook only had so many letters because of time constraints. We don't have that. So even if it is 150 songs, there'll be covered eventually.

Another repeat, none of the details are set in stone---so please don't get upset over them. Everything is tentative.

Though... for a solo song, I'll just play my instrument. Haha. As soon as I can find it >< And, even though I'm not that great of a singer, I'll be more than willing to participate in a "choir song" (Who..., MY ALL, Red Line, etc.).

Will we send this to TA's address? (Or, if she travels around that time, meet her wherever she's at?)

The practicality of it though... I'm not entirely sure she would listen to all of the songs, her discography is ginormous. :D It'd be nice to have it on AHS as a contest of sorts, or Ayu fan song collections.

sounds good, but it'll be a narrow competition from such a large fanbase. like, who do you consider a legit singer to have his/her's selected? it would disappoint many.

and as someone said, i don't think ayu would sit and listen to her discography again. ayu even mentioned herself that she doesn't [like] to listen to her owns songs. but i'll keep an eye on this. but to make it extra special, we should write in our own languages to make it extra authentic from our hearts and representing who from what country and what background she has reached. :)

Honestly I think we're getting overboard... The Fan book and the DVD is Ok.. but this it's a bit creepy and we're way way way overdoing it.

I have a suggestion...

Why not just include this on the DVD? Or better yet choose one song from every album and everyone's going to make a video of it then edit it and put it all together into one video like a montage. (I can't explain the idea well but I'm sure some of you got it)

ya.i think include this(maybe one or two songs like boys and girls,red line,who or my all) into the DVD.this is too much.i don't think ayu will appreciate all these and i don't think she has so many time to listen to all furthermore she said she don't listen to her own songs.so,i don't really want to join this project

Yes, I would like this as well, although I probably wont participate. I have a lot of trouble with making covers lol.

What about music videos? I've always wanted to interpret visually one of her un-visualized songs.

@BanaCherry: to be honest, i thought we were overdoing with the DVD thing. it all seemed so complicated.
but i do agree, its a little too much.

This sounds really good, I've been taking vocals tracks and re-recording the tracks over them for a while now. I was thinking if for like Boys & Girls we have people playing instruments as well as singing, make it a real forum effort!!
