Post your dislike for Rock 'n' Roll Circus Title here|Warning:Not For Serious People

Warning : You can take this is seriously and feel bad or just be humorous and have fun. This thread is not for obsessively serious people.

Reasons Why I made this thread :

1. People are posting their dislike/hatred for the title all over the forums so I wanted people to post it here.
2. It's annoying that some discussion threads are filled with hate posts about the title.
3. This is one way of organizing it.
4. I'm bored

------------------------------------------------

Remember People :

It's just a title so get over it.
The title won't be the one you'll listen to.
if you hate the title so much you could always rename it on your desktop and make your own cover

ren0210989 7th March 2010 01:28 PM

how can you hate something that isn't fully out yet and know so little about?? =P

Cherry Dynamite 7th March 2010 01:29 PM

it's for people who hates the title! xD

Certain people will find a way to hate it.

njanjayrp 7th March 2010 01:35 PM

We don't really need this. Why so negative?

Kanzaki 7th March 2010 01:37 PM

I think BanaCherry just got fed up! :mischief
lol. Naw, we don't really need a vent thread. But it'll be fun reading what people write here.

Cherry Dynamite 7th March 2010 01:38 PM

I'm just bored and tired of reading hate comments about it :D
I thought it'll be better if people will just post their hatred here because it's everywhere in the forums and this will probably be deleted as we speak.

I'm actually just bored.

thinkingoutloud89 7th March 2010 01:45 PM

Hmmm I think hateing something is still chidlish...especially if it is an album title?
Its more cretaive than most of her album titles,
an moreover her titles never releate to the whole thing

its okay for people to dislikeing it just because they donīt like the sound of it
and it is okay to express that
but it is stupid to hate the end product because of it, especially if we donīt know anything about it yet

Pieces_of_SEVEN 7th March 2010 01:46 PM

I don't mind if it's here...hopefully it will STAY here so everyone can stfu in the other threads about it, since they so desperately feel the need to express their disdain for a simple title.

WAIT and SEE ~risuku~
Making drama for nothing

oww
I also quote that hikki title often
even if I donīt like the song XD

This is what I'm talking about... I'm just so tired and annoyed with people saying it over and over some people even make multiple post on how they hate it so.

I mean sure they can hate it but repeating it constantly is just annoying and most of the time they'll repeat it on every thread.

I'm not trying to encourage hatred here but I think this thread is ok considering that hates comments about the title are basically everywhere in the forum well it'll just make things organize.

but I highly doubt anyone will seriously post here.

AngelSenshi 7th March 2010 03:13 PM

Hating it is really useless, don't you think? It's just a title. It can't be hated at like that, especially since nobody really knows the content yet.

Such negative threads should probably be put in a place where nobody else can see them.

zyoeru 7th March 2010 03:19 PM

OH MY GOD I HATE THE TITLE BECAUSE I HATE APOSTROPHES!!!!!!!111twelve!!!!!11//1!

What lol then you haven't seen the hate posts yet?
I'm not talking about the content lol I'm talking about the title.
I never even said I hate the title and please read the other post and check if someone is putting hate post here.

You can take this is seriously and feel bad or just be humorous and have fun.

Picaflor 7/4 7th March 2010 03:21 PM

I don't like the title. unoriginal, uncreative and too "omg am i cool now?"

but that's just the title. and with the singles, nothing to me says rock and roll circus. they're all ballads. D: and hopefully the only ballads on the album. I think if we took green/days off NL, and put it with yw/b. on a whole separate album, we might have some continuity.

alternarist 7th March 2010 03:22 PM

LOL!! as what the thread started said, she was just bored..

i am quite curious too.. what exactly is wrong with the title that no one seems to like it.. =x

to be honest, i cant really find a reason why i dont really find this title very "exciting?"..

but i have learned to accept things that i dont like (Sunrise/Sunset covers) cos there really is not point complaining about something that will not change. :)

hopefully the content of the album will WOW me!

ExodusUK 7th March 2010 03:26 PM

Ayu should just name her next album UNTITLED and it should come with pens to write your own album title on the cover.

Cherry Dynamite 7th March 2010 03:26 PM

LOL I do what I said almost everytime.

Anyways I edited the Thread title and added a warning.

Thank god some people aren't taking this seriously.

How would we write our own title if it's already named "UNTITLED" are we gonna write over that or something?

JackieRos 7th March 2010 03:39 PM

are you kidding me?
it has Britney written all over it

yeah I'm just kidding

Picaflor 7/4 7th March 2010 03:48 PM

She could do a britney and just name her album after herself "Ayumi". Although I will say I do love brit's "Britney" album. the album art all over and through the booklet was really cool. I used to have a huge poster of it on my walls.

waterballoon 7th March 2010 03:52 PM

isn't there a poll on whether you like the title? maybe people can post their dislike for it so the poll section actually can be useful LOL

xLitax 7th March 2010 03:52 PM

^^ New album Ayumi...

Yah, I don't see it happening. lol

I liked Britney's albums all the way through Britney. Ah~ the days.

zoomzoom 7th March 2010 03:55 PM

The title is ok, I just don't really like whenever she uses unoriginal things. One thing is using a common song title, but this is a step further.

I know she'll own it and make it her own though and the title will grow on me. I disliked the title NEXT LEVEL for a while, it sounded cheesy, but it grew on me.

xLitax 7th March 2010 04:06 PM

Um... don't people have the right to dislike whatever they want? I'm sure you haven't liked everything Ayu has done.

JackieRos 7th March 2010 04:12 PM

that's why we have the ignore list or just don't read the post duh
oh and I'm not complaining about this thread I'm just sayin'

that would have worked if she named it ayumi instead of ASFX
actually A Song For Ayumi looks catchy

Misa-chan 7th March 2010 04:14 PM

Songs, PVs, covers, everything else aside, I don't really like this title. Because it's Rock'n'Roll, and I'm not that much into her rockish side.

Yeah, I prefer the elegant classy beautiful POP Queen style. :innocent

That's all lol. :D

C+R+E+AYUMI 7th March 2010 04:31 PM

I believe that for a singer the coice of an album title is a problem of style.
This time I don't understand her choice at all. The style doesn't match with singer i followed for more than 9 years.
maybe she will change my mind while listening the tracks but...

When talking about it we would refer to it as Untitled or Ayu's 12yj album (there wouldn't be any text on the cover except for Ayumi Hamasaki), and it would be announced as untitled. After listening to it you can name it yourself.

xLitax 7th March 2010 06:40 PM

^ That's a good idea. I would name it Ayumi. I think Ayu needs a self-titled album. :P

Rainbow and LOVEppears are the only albums to my knowledge where there isn't a track on the album with the album's title. Ugh. That's what I felt when I found out the title. I'm not really getting the connection between the ballads on the album, and "rock'n'roll" or "circus."

Besides that the title just seems kinda off for Ayu, who's had other more thought out titles. No matter how "rockish" she's become, the term rock'n'roll doesn't scream Ayumi like ballad does. It could be because I dislike her more rock-influenced songs, but I do not want another Secret/Guilty.

an album has to have similarity. Even if the album songs were all rockish, having sunset, you were, ballad, etc. would be so out of place. it wouldn't work.

xLitax 7th March 2010 08:35 PM

Why would she release two ballads and then announce an album title that sounds like it would have high-energy songs?

GRACE 7th March 2010 08:37 PM

You were... sorta fits tbh, it has rock elements in it with the guitars and such. It's probably the ONLY single that fits the rock 'n' roll theme, just barely,.

Kanzaki 7th March 2010 08:43 PM

Which is why about 8-10 of the songs will fit the theme, the ones she's been recording since what, January? Can't remember. Oh well.
It was the same thing with NL, hardly any of her previously excisting singles at that point matched that whole electro-futuristic-disco thing she wanted NL to be. But it turned it pretty damn nice imo. The whole album had an amazing flow, and the interludes/instrumental parts linked together the songs nicely. I'm sure RnRC will have the same thing going on.

i think they basically meant that this really does not sound like a song title, so they were correct in stating it's not a track that will be heard..

well actually LOVEppears is a juxtapostion of LOVE(~Destiny~) and appears...
and you also omitted MY STORY ;)

i thought it was just a contraction of "LOVE Appears" not love ~destiny~ and appears. i read that she was in a car and looked out the window and saw two people kissing and realized that love can happen anywhere miraculously. Thus, love appears.

idk...

oh my god your right I forgot about that, how I did I am not even sure... I knew I was missing somewhere... I also know that about LOVEppears, but what I mean is that she doesn't actually have a track called "LOVEppears"... if she did that would be an awesome title.

emi♡ 7th March 2010 09:28 PM

I don't hate the title.

It's just a bad title.

Unoriginal and cheesy and dumb.

Provokes little to no excitement from me, thank god we've had some cool pictures.

I imagine TRICK with rock music and more goth weirdness cause it's Ayu and she does that.

I do think it's interesting to see how it fits in with the feel of the album...whatever it will be.

mi|kshake 7th March 2010 09:58 PM

I could maybe live with the name for the tour but it's a pretty unexciting title for the album.

mi|kshake~

xLitax 7th March 2010 10:08 PM

^ Exactly. It sounds like the name of a tour, not an album.

R_Hikki 8th March 2010 12:10 AM

In my opinion, the album title Rock 'n' Roll Circus just sounds plain tacky and leaves no mystery as to what the album might sound like. Obviously there's going to be some rock 'n' roll songs and circus themes and if there isn't then the fans are gonna be left asking more questions.

I wonder what the fans in Japan with limited English think of the title.

primavera♥ 8th March 2010 12:31 AM

well im happy some people are joking about it
cuz if there were so many "omg this title so tacky and ugly. ugh ugh ugh i hate it!" i would be"*faints* so much negativity in one thread. so much against my own personal philosphy" XD

yeah im a lover of this title. one of my favs from her as its more original opposed to many other titles lol . . .but then like really people. its . . .a . . .title

~X2RADialbomber~ 8th March 2010 12:33 AM

Rock 'N' Roll Circus... hmmm...

Sunrise/Sunset/You were.../BALLAD ARE NOT ROCK AND ROLL. :P I always feel like Ayu's singles are out of place in her albums. It would be cool if she could choose one theme and stick to it. xD I like the title though - it's different :)

This exactly, the title is good, but singles never seem to fit, at least in this case... I mean, they couldn't be so distant from a circus or rock theme :shakehead

AyUmIXx 8th March 2010 01:23 AM

i don't care about the title seriously, even though it shocked me up when i first knew that not only Ayu who used that title for her title album, but Rolling Stone and also one of the Japanese rock band for their song..
but what gets me more interested on the album, it's because of the pictures of the Microphone PV on the ViVi deji2 diary also Ayu's diary entry, and in fact that Ayu finally came up with a conceptual PV, with storyline..moreover she shot most of them in London with awesome outfits and stuff..
i'm more into the content of an album..
if the title sucks, i don't care at all.. even though in the end, i think Rock 'n' Roll Circus is pretty good name..

and i really hope that people won't refuse to buy the album JUST because of hating the album's title, it's just.. i don't know..
it makes more sense of people not buying the album/single if the covers are suck, but the title? i don't know.. haha..

xLitax 8th March 2010 01:55 AM

^ If I did that, I wouldn't have bought NEXT LEVEL.

I'm not buying this album 'cause I ain't got no cash.

RyRyMini 8th March 2010 02:17 AM

And people thought NEXT LEVEL was a bad title. C'mon.

Andrenekoi 8th March 2010 02:37 AM

well you know, I think those first one were a bit oringial...in terms of the entire album...

so, well, maybe we just have to wait...

I still think the title is cheesy though. You know, I am... is not cheesy, rainbow might be a bit...my story isnt, and neither is secret.

A song for xx is just awesome lol so is LOVEppears I think....NEXT LEVEL isn't THAT bad either. It kinda...makes you look at the term "next level" in a new way, because people don't really say that...commonly, you'd put a "the" in front of it...so "next level" becomes like a new entity and idea, different from "the next level" which kinda sounds like a BEP album or something lol

I always liked it too, it fits the electronic sounding songs at least. This title doesn't really fit any of the songs which we know will be on it. But who knows, maybe the ones we don't know will be rock as well as circusy. xD

waterballoon 8th March 2010 04:11 AM

Well there's a reason why GREEN was in NEXT LEVEL. I mean sometimes she releases the singles, and then comes up with the album concept a while later.

Obviously, the two singles don't fit with Rock 'n' Roll or Circus AT ALL, but it's cos they're singles, I guess. At least the new songs seem to fit, with Microphone, Don't look back & Sexy little things.

RyRyMini 8th March 2010 04:16 AM

^I thought I read an interview where she mentioned something about picking songs from the album to be on the next single, and she ended up with You Were.../BALLAD. Maybe I'm remembering something else, but that would mean she knew the songs in advance.

xLitax 8th March 2010 04:19 AM

Closet thing that came to my mind was either WONDERLAND, or Kuu's Wonderland and show girl. You know the sort of songs that creates an image of a circus in your mind lol.

I mean she doesn't have to do that, cos I think songs like Sexy little things are "circus" in nature - just really funky and edgy... not your typical pop/rock/ballad... and just really letting loose and having fun. I think that's the concept of "circus" Ayu was going for. And if it's so, then I think Sunrise will fit lol

Andrenekoi 8th March 2010 04:29 AM

You were... arrangment has some rock flavouring on its guitars... IMO it showed its full potential at CDL! For some reason, the way ayu was performing it on the central stage made me think of classic rock concerts...

milky_way 8th March 2010 04:38 AM

I referred to the dancers (Ice-dancers?) in You Were... as Clowns. They seemed clownish.

...we should have known. :yeek

Max_ZZZ 8th March 2010 08:50 AM

meeeeh to me, Rock'n'Roll Circus seems so god damn tacky

i LOVED the title NEXT LEVEL. GUILTY was a strong word too. every title seemed as a good label to stick on a bunch of things that could come together to make the perfect album

if an album is a recipe and a each thing is the ingredients, the album name as the first one makes the recipe look like crap. but then, maybe after everything else is added itll all come together nicely?

i hope i don't end up saying "yup, it was still cheesy as balls"

yelmizuno 8th March 2010 12:32 PM

Why u guys care so much if someone simply doesn't like something!?

This is the first time I dislike an album name... But I'm not that kind of stupid people who cancel pre-order just because a name or a cover... I'll get my own copy (hk version because I don't have too much money now), I really think it will be a great album, I like S/S and YW/B, and I like MICROPHONE & Don't look back previews and I'm verious curious about the news PVs, I want it!... I just don't like the name Rock'n'Roll Circus... It's not the kind of name that I like, it's person, just it.

aloopy 8th March 2010 02:34 PM

I don't like the title. But it's just a title

I never liked (miss)understood as a title but the album is damn amazing. So hopefully it's the same this time

tokyoxjapanxfan 8th March 2010 03:30 PM

I personally think the album's title is silly and it stands out like a sore thumb,
but in no way am I pre-judging the album's content.
I'm still excited for how it turns out ;)
It could end up standing out in a great way--or...a not-so-great way. haha

reixminako 8th March 2010 05:22 PM

It'd better actually be a Rock 'n' Roll Circus or else I will totally hate the title :)

dartsofpleasure 8th March 2010 06:30 PM

I just sounds like Britney Spears' "Circus" which ruins the illusion for me that Ayu is different from Britney Spears. :(

I dislike Spears as well and I get your point, but again: Britney Spears isn't Circus, nor did invent it, and isn't even the 10th artist to use it as a title-theme-inspiration just throughout this decade

Nandokanji 8th March 2010 09:56 PM

The only reason im not liking Ayu's supposed Circus theme is because i HATE clowns, they freak me out

I hate the title, sorry :P

I have enough of this circus thing. can we be more innovative? first, X-tina with Back to Basics album, then, Britney with Circus, then Koda with TRICK and now that....

overdose

Woah, that just reminds me I still have that album and that poster! I'm gonna put that on my wall now, I love you <3

About the title, I used to hate it, but now I've realized it's good that she's actualy really surprised everyone! (Well people saw it coming cause of the tour title, but when THAT was announced everyone was soo surprised!)
And a surprise is always good, cause it shows that she's still changing herself, still trying to be more amazing.

^THIS !!
that is exactly the reason. western artists usually release the album first, and then they pop out singles. so all the material is new, and then they release singles with remixes and what not. thus it is much easier to have a theme. japanese artists are more single oriented, and release the album later. so you already know all the singles, and there are only a few new tracks.

i'm sure ayu didn't know the direction of her new album when she had to create a summer single, which was "sunrise/sunset". she just created a single that fitted her mood last summer imo.

I like more the japanese single oriented... because it makes the album a mix of rhythm... some western artists are just the same kind of rhythm from the beggin from tha last of the album (some, not all). And let's remmember GUILTY, the atmosfere but glitter is there, and ayumi fix it in a great way on the album, it's doesn't looks that glitter is out of the album context!!
