You're not Japanese, and she can tell, in her 36th thread!

wanted something funny for the title.
was half tempted to use the MIA, but didn't want people confused. xD

fix later. gotta make a template. :heart

Picaflor 7/4 15th March 2010 03:36 AM

I think "STOP TALKING!" would have done good too lol. I'll save my winter born child/new years card title for her 37th thread. :D

primavera♥ 15th March 2010 03:38 AM

she can tell????

oh no . . .time to go to plan B

hey so is there really no news at all for her. like nothing. . .like no new english single
or whatever happened to that one japanese thing

amorphose 15th March 2010 03:38 AM

STOP TALKING in Utada's xxth thread!
I considered that one too. xD But it was a tad short.

Gotta love inside jokes from the NYC show. :D

jean-baptiste 15th March 2010 04:08 AM

STOP TALKING!! in Utada's Thread woulda been hilarious!!! xD i like this one too though. :yes

btw, what's MIA and where does the "winter born child/new years card" thing come from? =x

Picaflor 7/4 15th March 2010 04:09 AM

^MIA is a military term. it means "missing in action" as in, someone just dissappeared. cause we haven't heard anything from her.

winter born child is part of the english translation to her song passion. it's from the bridge at the end.

Quote:

Before I loved you
I was a child born in winter
Sometimes, I have doubts about
the things that started in the past
Oh I will never ever forget
the picture you attached to that New Year’s card
It’s the things that we can’t do
that we long for so much

I don't think I've ever mentioned that I never get tired of her music. haha. Let's do something to pass the time till we get some information!

What are your top 5 favorite utada songs?
yay wasting time....

for me it has to be:

1. Sanctuary (it is my all time favorite utada song you can all kiss my ass)
2. Making Love
3. Exodus '04
4. Prisoner of Love
5. Play Ball

amorphose 15th March 2010 04:45 AM

Hmm... My top 5 changes quite frequently. :) But I'll cook one up right now.

1. You Make Me Want To Be A Man
2. Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence - FYI
3. Addicted To You
4. Wonder 'Bout
5. Drama

These are the ones I've been listening to a lot lately. :)

primavera♥ 15th March 2010 04:48 AM

1. tie between BLUE and Letters
2. Kremlin Dusk
3. Sakura Drops
4. Passion/Sanctuary
5. Making Love

im sure that list used to be diff but i dont feel like thinking atm
anything from Ultra Blue own for me

jean-baptiste 15th March 2010 04:57 AM

omg only 5!? tooo difficult! xD

but the album i'm currently in love with is Ultra Blue it was my least favorite for a while but somehow... idk what happened. xD

primavera♥ 15th March 2010 05:01 AM

^ Ultra Blue is simply amazing like that ^___^ (XDD)

although i do in fact like them im not a fan of her more r&bish stuff. so Ultra blue :heart
plus everything has a darker feel to it strangely even "happier" songs

amorphose 15th March 2010 05:12 AM

Utada is great because no matter what song of her's comes on, I can listen to it at any given moment. Most other artists I usually skip if I'm not feeling it. haha

Ooh, here's a good question that I don't see asked too often... What are some of your LEAST favorite songs?

I'm not a fan of WINGS or kairo. Not sure what it is about WINGS. I listen to it sometimes, but I really didn't like it when Keep Tryin' came out. kairo makes me so sad, 'cuz I think it'd be so awesome if it were recorded with a real orchestra. The synth ruins it for me. I used to not like For You or Time Limit, but I love both now. And surprisingly, unlike most, I like everything on First Love, my least favorite being time will tell.

primavera♥ 15th March 2010 05:16 AM

^ its like a stab to the heart. kairo, WINGS, Keep Tryin = preicous

well least favs:
1.everything on First Love, especially First Love (except Movin on Without You which i adore)
2. Dirty Desire
3. Poppin
4. Let Me Give you my Love
5. Tippy Toes
6. a few other songs that just arent my cup of tea :(

amorphose 15th March 2010 05:19 AM

^Keep Tryin' isn't one of my least favorites. I love that song! haha I was mentioning it because WINGS was the b-side. :)

I think First Love is a good album, really. I can understand why it was such a big hit. Out of your list I really love everything. haha My least favorite on your list is Dirty Desire which I don't dislike but it's not a favorite.

I didn't like Poppin' until I saw her sing it live. Same goes for On and On.

Here's another thought to ponder; Do you guys think Utada will ever do a best album? I'm not talking Single Collections Vol. 2 or anything cause I don't consider single collections bests. Something like A BEST 2, how it's actually what Ayu considers her best and the songs that were most popular.

First Love, Automatic, Hikari, & Flavor Of Life would all definitely make an appearance. I'm wondering what album tracks she'd choose though. I hope she does something like this in the future~ Also, I wonder if IDJ will try releasing a compilation with material from both English albums. It'd be so weird to have Easy Breezy and You Make Me Want To Be A Man alongside Dirty Desire and Come Back To Me. haha

primavera♥ 15th March 2010 05:23 AM

^ oh ok haha XD

i love On and On a lot. one of the songs i dont skip on TITO lol

well i never saw why it was a hit. i was like "oh goodness. bes in japan. how???!!! the title track is so generic. you are always gonna be my whatever. no no no" lol. but its always aappreciated as a classic hikki album ^___^ i really dont like generic/contemporary sometimes. . .like i can take listening to the album when i need to be calm. but as long as vocals are calm. and not extra-amazing or anything

im reaally picky lol

if there were a best i feel the songs i want on it wouldnt be on it :(

amorphose 15th March 2010 05:32 AM

^I think we'd be shock at her idea of her best songs. The ones I mentioned, I feel would be included because of their extreme popularity. If it was just her picking on her own accord, the only song I can say I'm quite certain would be on it is Hikari.

mcluva420 15th March 2010 05:59 AM

1. Deep River
2. BLUE
3. traveling
4. First Love
the rest idk

Out of curiosity, how many of you guys found out about Hikki through KH? I personally hate Simple & Clean so I was never drawn to it from that, haha.

hpg23 15th March 2010 05:20 PM

My favorite song ever is Simple And Clean, you are getting into dangerous zone xD

I discovered not only her, but all of J-Pop and so on trough KH, and I'm really proud of it.

I don't see the hate for the game, it's still an awesome game after all these years.

My top 5, btw:

1. Simple And Clean
2. Kremlin Dusk
3. Uso Mitaina I Love You
4. Kettobase!
5. TOKYO Nights

1. BLUE

5. dareka no negai ga kanau koro

It's hard to choose only 5, I love Keep Tryin', Passion, Addicted To You, hikari, Stay Gold, kettobase!, FINAL DISTANCE and Can You Keep A Secret? as much as these 5 ones too. Her american albums aren't my cup of tea, only singles were listenable.

TofuBunny 15th March 2010 07:05 PM

oh, people are doing the top 5 thing here ?
Let's see ..

1.Pretty much the whole ULTRA BLUE album XD (is that cheating ?)
2.Beautiful World

1. Wait & See ~Risk~

Simple And Clean was my first Hikki song, but I didn't discover her through Kingdom Hearts (I've never played the game). When I was looking stuff up about other J-Pop artists, I kept coming across her name and decided to look her up. Simple And Clean was the first mp3 I found of hers. :) Soon after, I saw a commercial for KH on TV, though, LOL, and heard the remix.

*raises hand* Heard Simple & Clean first.....liked it....but it was kinda like...nice song. Nice singer. That's it. I then listened to Hikari in a Japanese trailer for Kingdom Hearts Re:CoM and really got into her music...

^__^

Minttulatte 15th March 2010 09:35 PM

Making top 5 lists of the songs from this artist is too hard imo. But because I like making these kind of lists I will give it a try.

01. "Addicted To You/For You"
02. "Keep Tryin'"
03. "Sunglasses"
04. "time will tell"
05. "About Me"

Okay, I cheated for #1 songs. :D But as you can see, there's 3 songs from Distance. I really adore this album. It has probably the best Hikki songs she has ever released. I love every single song on the album and feel like there's no filler songs or any misses for me. This album is just perfect.

And about did I find Hikki through Kingdom Hearts (aweseome games btw). I have to say I didn't. Of course I really love Passion, Sanctuary, Simple & Clean and Hikari but I only got into her when I heard her songs "DISTANCE" and "Kettobase" which made me really interested in her music. I heard two DISTANCE remixes (both are found from FINAL DISTANCE single) and I remember listening to those quite a lot. I got so hooked into her music I don't even understand why I stopped and even deleted her albums from my computer in 2007 before Flavor Of Life was released. :D But now I have everything on my computer again and I'm happy. <3

By the way, I watched two Hikki concerts other day. These were the Unplugged Live and UTADA UNITED 2006. I loved both of these concerts. Her vocals were amazing and especially the latter made me love Hikki even more. It was a amazing concert. I wish I could see Bohemian Summer 2000 and Budokan concerts as well damn it but I couldn't find any downloable torrents. :/

And I almost forgot. I was surfing in wikipedia last week, on Hikki's page. I don't know is it true but there read that Hikki is going on a hiatus or something or release a cover album. I wonder if any of this is true? Well, when I'm thinking about wikipedia there's always a chance of these things being false lies. :/ I really hope that the hiatus thing won't be true.

Picaflor 7/4 15th March 2010 09:39 PM

Least 5 favorite songs

1. Boku Wa Kuma
2. Letters
3. Can You Keep A Secret?
4. Every song on first love except first love, amai wana, and automatic
5. hikari (simple and clean though ♥)

and for the hell of it, my top 5 favorite pvs

1. Passion
2. You Make Me Want To Be A Man
3. SAKURA Drops
4. Be My Last
5. COLORS

Does anyone else besides me think colors should have been on deep river?

amorphose 15th March 2010 10:00 PM

^I think it fits better with DEEP RIVER than UB. haha Dareka no... too!

I'm one of the people that found about Hikki through KH and about J-Pop through Hikki. For me though, I didn't buy the game and then like the song... It happened like this: I heard about the game and thought it would be stupid cause I hate Disney, so I wasn't even gonna look into it. Well, when they started airing the commercials, I would see them ALL the time and I fell in love with the song. I was pretty young (9 or 10?) and I didn't really know how to work the computer, so I couldn't find the song online.

So I actually bought KH just to find out who sang the song and so I could hear the whole thing. I did end up playing it and liking it quite a bit, but it started out as like "omg, i need to know who sings this song!!!11!" and after I found out her name I bought the COLORS single. :)

Picaflor 7/4 16th March 2010 02:04 AM

^I'm assuming the moogle in your avatar is from kingdom hearts? not ff?

I like everyone else, found utada through simple and clean way back when. Back in 2002 I was bored one day and asked my mom to take me to a blockbuster so I could rent a video game for my ps2 and I came across kingdom hearts, it looked really cool cause the front had a heart shaped moon and blah blah blah. So I played it and fell in love with the remix in the beginning, since I didn't know how to work the computer and look up the song, I just turned off my ps2 and restarted the game over and over and over to hear it. Then once I beat the game, I found out it was by utada hikaru (never even crossed my mind to look in the booklet) and decided to look her up and fell in love instantly. and thus my obsession with jpop/japan was born.

also, thinking about new york and the "you're not japanese" quote. during an mc session she asked "aren't the americans funny?" in japanese to her japanese speaking fans, which I find odd cause she is american herself. born in new york! she is making fun of herself! yes! haha

I was just reading some live reports of her latest tour and she performed a cover of 'The Bitter End' by Placebo, which is like, one of my favourite songs of all time. Her cover is so. damn. good. it needs a studio version! Her voice sounds excellent singing harder rock songs, which she rarely does. I love her covers of random songs, she has such good music taste <3

^Haha, I knew nothing about Japanese releases and was expecting COLORS to be a full album. I was like WTF at first, but I liked COLORS so much that I didn't care. Then I really read up on her, learned the Japanese system, bought all her Japanese albums as well as all the singles from Can You Keep A Secret? up to COLORS and it was just history after that. I ordered a new single or album like every 2-3 weeks for a whole year. I blew my whole preteen allowance on the *****. XDD

Polyrhythm 16th March 2010 05:28 AM

I don't know how other countries are, other than those two, either, since I've never bought CDs from anywhere else.

Oh finally there's another person dislike kairo :thumbsup. I hate this song so much and I was shocked that the majority loved the song back when UB released. And from the talk between you and StrawbariSnowAyumi, I can see that I have a different taste towards hikki's music with Strawbari.

First Love was the hit because the Japanese public was shocked that how on earth an 16 yr old girl could sing that well. Honestly, if you dun like R&B that much, I dun think you will love the materials in the first two albums. I would say I love First Love, but not as much for Distance. I would really call Distance as a generic R&B/pop album. When I got the album (along w/ A BEST hehe), my brother said A BEST sounded better even tho it was a best album. First Love is much better because it flows well, the songs united together, and it really showed the thought of a teenager.

IMO DEEP RIVER is her strongest album up to date. That was the time when she started jumping out of R&B. The theme of the album was "dark", or black and white as the cover indicated... Yet it was really colorful indside. I still consider DR as her best.

The music on UB and HS are under the influence of sync instruments. IMO I like HS more. Admittedly UB is more experimental, and the composition is more dynamic. But the end product is too complicated and I find it uneasy to listen with. I feel the uncertainty, and probly it's related to her current state of mind during 2005 - 2006. HS on the other hand is more soothing. It's simple but it unified the songs together.

So my fav album from most to least will be: DEEP RIVER, HS, First Love, UB, Distance. Nothing against others because I may like R&B while you may like something else. Btw, I dun really like R&B, it's just that hikki can make anything wonderful.. :)

My top five songs... I dunno I have too many fav songs...

And I'm quite indifferent to her English songs... :P.

emi♡ 16th March 2010 10:08 AM

I never really like Kairo either...but I respect it for other reasons. imo, it's more on the artistic side to be really listenable.

I remember someone calling it the best Jpop song ever created when UB was released lol They had it in their sig here...forgot who it was...It really does remind me of the sea though...

I still love UB the best. I like her experimental/pop side better, and the songs for me are a little more solid and diverse than the works on HS. It used to sound like a transitional album to me, and I think in some ways it is...but I think it would only truly be if her works continued to be more like HS and continue even more so into the synth/electro sound.

Do I have a top 5...

1. Passion
2. Take 5
3. FINAL DISTANCE
4. Hikari/Keep Tryin'
5. WINGS/YMMWTBAM/Devil Inside/COLORS/Traveling :P

bluegie 16th March 2010 11:32 AM

I hope she'll move on to something else other than synth sound. Not that I hate it, but it'll be weird if she sticks around the same genre for too long. Like... First Love and Distance can be grouped into R&B style, while DR in a more pop diversity.. We can however see a bit of DR music in UB (e.g., COLORS, Dareka, BML). UB and HS are under synth department. I'm expecting she'll try something new... I will be a bit shocked if she's making a third synth album.

If she has to change genres, I would love her to try more rock oriented stuff *-*, or electronic rock, that would be like sooooo hot

I'm expecting she'll try something new... I will be a bit shocked if she's making a third synth album.

You know, I think I would be too. I think another album in the style of HS would be a little boring...but I do trust her to bring something new to the table, and I know with her next album she'll do something new, or another fusion type thing.

I think she gets bored sometimes lol I think she has to change it up.

Picaflor 7/4 16th March 2010 09:36 PM

btw. I still throw away my obis. even though I know what they are for. as far as I know, the only use is to make them look nice when they are all stacked up, and you can sell a cd for a higher price with it's original obi, but since I don't ever plan on selling any of my jpop cds and the only person that ever looks/listens/takes out my cds is myself, I don't care about how "nice" they look.

I love wings, it sounds so 60s ish, like i'm back in the brady bunch era and I'm in a "cool cat lounge" bar or something. and its all snazzy jazz up in the joint, and utada walks out from behind the curtains, sits at her piano and plays it live with a jazz band from the 60s. I can so see that. the ending is long though, they could definitely shorten that up by a good full minute.

Kairo though...I don't hate it, but I find it boring. the lyrics are cool about hide and seek, but it's skippable on the album. :/ snore.

yes. . .many people have a different taste than me for i look for very specific things that make me sound like a complete weirdo, in music. (i am a weirdo when it comes to art forms) and although first love is a good album it does nothing for me. its like listening to BoA for me.
DEEP RIVER was just gorgeous btw. letters, deep river, tokyo nights etc <3

i guess im the type with music as with books to be super imaginative :) i feel the need to be put in an aura of a surreal non-earthly world. utada only accomplishes that for me in UB and some songs on DR and a few on HS. HS is too dry. as opposed to a surreal world i feel like im sitting in a high rise apartment in tokyo just chillin. she doesnt need synth necessarily but thats what i look for. thats why i like ayu, hikki, and many v-kei bands (before they go mainstream ugh) ^___~

i cant wait to see what type she would do next. maybe she should just go all rock. (if she puts out anything next)

AyUta 17th March 2010 03:55 AM

Noooo, everyone dislikes kairo :grumpy. Love that song :heart.

Polyrhythm 17th March 2010 05:02 AM

What? I LOVE Kairo....even though I cant totally see why people might think its boring and hate it.

U-GO-BOY 17th March 2010 09:39 AM

I love Kairo too!

and I think she should do more songs like Uso Mitai ni I love you. but with a more electronic sound.. that would be awesome <3

Zeke. 17th March 2010 09:48 AM

All I really care to rank at this moment is my #1 and that is...

Take 5

It's such a wonderful piece of musical artwork. So other-worldly. I remember reading an interpretation of the song/lyrics somewhere - hot it's Hikki's "take 5" in life or whatnot. Really great read.

P.S. - will Hikki ever return to the J-Pop scene? Lol.

Oh! That's the feeling I got from UB, which I couldn't describe before. The thing makes me treat UB as her most experimental album is the surreal feeling. It's like something true, and at the same time it's created from imagination. The only problem for UB is the complexity, which is a bit too much. HS is a down to earth form of UB. Even tho it's a bit too simple, it soothes me a lot. The only song that reminds me of UB is Take 5, which is actually the material from UB.

And yeah DR is quite surreal as well. It's like you're looking at a colorless pictures (lots of grey tones). When you close your eyes tho colorful images running out from the music. That's how I feel about DR.

LOL I love how you connect First Love with BoA. Quite interesting, but hikki is much better than BoA. Among the avex female artists, BoA is probly the most boring one...

yes, HS is too down to earth and i also dont feel the same emotion as in UB. is all ^___^ (complex? how so complex. to undertand? whaa? - the more complex the better i say. that talent)
yes. I prefer hikki a thousand times over BoA. First Love was just an album too me. anyone couldve made it.

yes surrealism. and that may be why Take 5 is my fav of HS then haha. its also why i adore the artist Eiko Shimamiya almost as much as hikki. everything she makes is completely surreal.

i wish for hikki to accomplish that surreal feeling again with anything later she releases. so its not so down to earth. :)

Andrenekoi 17th March 2010 07:21 PM

I would say HS is Hikki's most complex album production wise... all the layered sounds are there, all the lyrics with multiple meanings are there... But it's the final part of the sound experiement she started with Deep River and denveloped trough Exodus and Ultra Blue... That's why I love this album so much, it's like she being able to do something she was trying to archieve since her first non R&B album... The mature version of that idea

Picaflor 7/4 17th March 2010 09:12 PM

I love how deep river is all black and deep looking yet there are songs like sakura drops, hikari, and traveling, and then we get heart station with everything being plain and bright white, and we get songs like take 5, flavor of life, and prisoner of love. haha

I think the albums are polar opposites.

AyUta 18th March 2010 01:44 AM

I want something like Tokyo Nights again :(.

bluegie 18th March 2010 01:44 AM

HEART STATION is not pure white. It has a red heart, and I can definitely feel the heart beats (esp during the chorus).

I just love the song so much :D.

amorphose 18th March 2010 03:01 AM

First Love and Distance are strictly R&B for me, even though Distance had a hint of rock. This Is The One is definitely reaching back to those R&B roots but putting her current, mature spin on them. DEEP RIVER, EXODUS, ULTRA BLUE, and HEART STATION all radiate color though. That's just the way the music is~

I love what Picaflor said about DEEP RIVER, and I love what bluegie said about HEART STATION. I totally agree. DEEP RIVER and HEART STATION are both equally colorful but they contrast each other totally. EXODUS and ULTRA BLUE are the same but with less contrast as they were back to back. It definitely feels like they were consecutively made to me, and they were! haha :heart

I listened to ULTRA BLUE all day today. I'm really getting back into that album. Especially Keep Tryin'!

Lady_Eowyn 18th March 2010 06:48 AM

I love Kairo too... a beautiful song, in my opinion :P

ストロボ・EdGE 18th March 2010 06:58 AM

It's probably been brought up before, but do you guys wish Hikki released music in the typical Japanese way, that is, an album a year?

I wonder if the quality would be lower.

Picaflor 7/4 18th March 2010 07:02 AM

No. but I do wish she didn't take her good old time doing her thing. since she does 90% everything herself, she is allowed to do whatever she wants whenever she wants, which is why she so infrequently releases stuff. Cause if she doesn't feel like doing something, she won't do it. haha. but then again, it is more genuine this way. she writes when she wants to, and usually is inspired or something.

I don't want her to release an album in a year, quality of the music will suffer too much imo. :< I want her to stick with this "western way" of releasing a album every second year. I love to wait for a Hikki album. :)

When she blogs about her creative process, u can see that some songs take her months to finish... I don't think that she would be able to release one album a year doing everything by herself...

bluegie 18th March 2010 11:23 AM

^But the time length between Distance and DEEP RIVER is about 15 months. I was pretty shocked when Toshiba announced the release of DR, since I expect it would take another 2 yrs for her to release the 3rd album..

My point is that the quality of DR is much better than of Distance (IMO). I wouldn't say Distance is bad, but it's a pretty boring album compared to her other releases. So I think so far the time length is not proportional to the quality in hikki's case.

Keiichi_JPU 18th March 2010 03:27 PM

I hope she'll release Single Clip Collection Vol. 5 soon! :) She's got catching up to do! Here's a list of all the PV's since Vol. 4:

Boku wa kuma
Flavor Of Life
Beautiful World
Kiss & Cry
Heart Station
Prisoner Of Love

And I think we also need a DVD release of her Utada MV's! :)

Easy Breezy
You Make Me Want To Be A Man
Come Back To Me

or a big Best Of / Single Collection 2 with [CD+DVD] edition, Ayu style! :D With a Bonus PV for Dirty Desire!

*dreams on*

hpg23 18th March 2010 05:17 PM

It is really being time for Single Collection Vol. 2

And imagine the sales for that... best + utada combo = insane cash

amorphose 18th March 2010 11:46 PM

I hope they don't do a Single Clip Collection Vol. 5 yet... x__x She really only has Flavor Of Life, HEART STATION, and Prisoner Of Love. None of the other music videos feature her. I don't think it'd sell very well at all because of that. If they included the making of Boku wa Kuma, Beautiful World, and Kiss & Cry... that'd be boring too. xD No Hikki still! D: Unless maybe her and real Kuma went to watch them make Boku wa Kuma (doubt it.)

Let's see... Single Collection Vol. 1 had... 15 tracks. This is what Single Collection Vol. 2 would look like if released right now:

1. 誰かの願いが叶うころ
2. Be My Last
3. Passion
4. Keep Tryin'
5. Flavor Of Life -Ballad Version-
6. Beautiful World
7. Kiss & Cry
8. HEART STATION
9. Stay Gold
10. Prisoner Of Love

I don't think she's had enough singles yet... x.x For some reason, I really feel like she won't included Boku wa Kuma. I know we all thought she wouldn't put it on HS either, but I really can't see it on the second single collection. I think that may have been why it was released under "Utada Hikaru presents" instead of Utada Hikaru; that way it could be excluded from the second single collection.

There's always the possibility of her including Boku wa Kuma AND the digital singles though which would make the tracklist look like this:

1. 誰かの願いが叶うころ
2. Be My Last
3. Passion
4. Keep Tryin'
5. This Is Love
6. Boku wa Kuma
7. Flavor Of Life -Ballad Version-
8. Beautiful World
9. Kiss & Cry
10. HEART STATION
11. Stay Gold
12. Fight The Blues
13. Prisoner Of Love

They could release it like that, but I still feel thats a bit short. haha I'd like it to be a solid 15 again, which is why I think they should wait until after her next album. Plus, I think the 10 "traditional" singles are superb, and there's nothing wrong with BwK, This Is Love, or Fight The Blues-- but they really don't feel like singles to me, and I think they should stay off of single collections. I could live with This Is Love and/or Fight The Blues getting a spot, but not BwK, please. x.x

If EMI wants to be mean like avex they could always do the second tracklist I made plus:

14. Eternally -Drama Mix-
15. Beautiful World -PLANITb Acoustica Mix-

^That's the worst case scenario. D: It'd ruin her Vol. 2 for me. I prefer to wait a little longer for it~

Before I finished reading your post, I wanted to reply adding those exact 2 songs! I would LOVE that!!

Well.. She could also just add Come Back To Me and Dirty Desire.. but those aren't from her Japanese work so she wouldn't, I guess.

However, I would actualy be very happy with the tracklist you proposed! You think the same way I do xD Before you added This Is Love and Fight The Blues, I was thinking "He should add FTB..", and then I thought "yeah and BW ~PLANiTb Mix~ too", and then you added that too xD

This would be my ideal tracklist, eventhough it wouldn't exactly be a straight-forward single collection, but a bit more mixed up:

Spoiler:

01. Dareka no negai ga kanau koro
02. Be My Last
03. Passion ~after the battle~
04. Keep Tryin'
05. WINGS
06. This Is Love
07. boku wa kuma
08. Flavor Of Life -ballad version-
09. Beautiful World -PLANiTb Acoustica Mix-
10. Kiss & Cry
11. Fly Me To The Moon (in other words) -2007 MIX-
12. HEART STATION
13. Stay Gold
14. Fight The Blues
15. Prisoner Of Love -Quiet Version-

However.. that would kinda kill the fun of collecting the singles.. since some of those remixes are single-only. I dunno! I'll just see what she comes up with herself

emi♡ 19th March 2010 02:08 AM

She should release a huge BEST koda kumi style when she has her next tour....yeah :D

They'd make serious cash.

although...I guess she should release another album for a tour...but meh I wouldnt mind...I want a tour lol

jean-baptiste 19th March 2010 02:30 AM

her last single collection had COLORS which came before Exodus right? i hope she'll include her american singles as well then. so it makes it complete. even though it's not really intended for japanese release it's still her work.

primavera♥ 19th March 2010 02:39 AM

that would be such a short singles collection. . .

and then it would have hardly any of my favs so i wouldnt by it anyway
i like the songs no one cares about XD

it would be nice for her to at least release a couple more singles so it doesnt feel as empty or just like a regurgitation of what HS basically was ^___~

AyUta 19th March 2010 02:58 AM

^ Yeah, I agree. A couple more singles would be nice.

amorphose 19th March 2010 03:40 AM

I want her to release a BEST OF now and do a Single Collection Vol. 2 when she has enough singles to make it 15 again. Like I said before, I'd be so curious to see what she'd select for her best album. :yes

I'm wondering-- do you guys think her next Japanese album will sell a million? HEART STATION managed to do it in 2008 when Secret and GUILTY couldn't, so I'm wondering if her next release can do it too.

By the way, I'm not trying to compare Hikki and Ayu. :P Ayu's figures are just the only singer's I know of and her and Hikki always had similar sales right? Since Distance forward.

primavera♥ 19th March 2010 03:49 AM

i think hikki will continue to sell a million even if she releases a blank disk lol
im surprised TITO didnt XD

i really dont think anyone will care if her quality of music declines or anything.
she will sell well as always. not that i ever understood her sales
^___^

but seriously i would actually have to hear an album before determining if it could sell well

AyUta 19th March 2010 05:33 AM

I think she can manage over a million too :yes. She's THAT good. :heart

Zeke. 19th March 2010 05:52 AM

I hate it when people flip when people compare artists. I mean, sure every artist is different, every person is different, but come on - sometimes there are reasons for comparison. I mean, mcdonald's is fattening and broccolli is healthy so if anyone tries to compare the two and pit them against each other, from now on I am going to say "YOU CAN'T! MCDONALD'S IS BURGER AND BROCOLLI IS VEGETABLE!!!!!!!!!!!! XD"

Picaflor 7/4 19th March 2010 05:52 AM

I don't want her to release a best of. singles collection is enough for me. best ofs seem pointless to me. not like singles collections are any more special. her first singles collection was from her first 3 albums, if she released another, it would only be from 2 albums, so maybe one more album, and then a vol. 2?

i sure have had alot of posts deleted, last time i was on here, i had 2,026 posts...

Sundae 19th March 2010 08:03 AM

I read here on AHS that she released a ultimate singles collection similar to how Britney did for hers. Now that I would want.

You know, a single collection means collections of singles, specifically the A-sides. I dun think any remix or B-side will include in the single collection. If they do, it'll become a BEST album.

I seriously hope she will not release single collection vol. 2 before releasing another album. And for a "Utada Hikaru Single Collection Vol. 2", English songs should not be included because those are UTADA's songs, not hikki's. I dun want any English songs to kill the purpose of the single collection :no.

Wait... Volume 1 had
1. time will tell 2. automatic 3. movin' on without you 4. first love 5. Addicted to you 6. Wait & see: risk 7. for you 8. time limit 9. can you keep a secret? 10. final distance 11. traveling 12. hikari 13. sakura drops 14. letters 15. colors

Which is all A-sides so why can't there already be Volume 2 with

1. dareka no negai ga kanau koro 2. be my last 3. passion 4. keep trying 5. this is love 6. boku wa kuma 7. flavor of life 8. beautiful world 9. kiss & cry 10. hear station 11. stay gold 12. fight the blues 13. prisoner of love 14. eternally-drama mix-

It's almost the same amount though This is love, Fight the blues, and Eternally-drama mix- aren't traditional singles...

Keiichi_JPU 20th March 2010 12:44 PM

^ add Beautiful World -PLANiTb Acoustica Mix- to that and you've got the same amount. Not a traditional single either, but it's definitely an official digital single since it's listed in Hikki's Discography on her official website (under "etc")
However, This Is Love and Fight The Blues aren't listed there.. so it's probably not gonna happen.

Hmm.. Listening to the preview of Beautiful World -PLANiTb Acoustica Mix- makes me realize how bad I want that song on CD :( It's such a good remix.

Hmm.. She could release a Remix album..
Well I'm bored anyway now, so:

01. First Love -John Luongo Mix-
02. Addicted To You -UNDERWATER MIX-
03. Wait & See ~RISK~ -Baton Girl Mix-
04. DISTANCE -m-flo remix-
05. traveling -PLANiTb Mix-
06. hikari -PLANiTb Mix-
07. Passion ~After the battle~
08. Flavor Of Life -antidote mix-
09. Fly Me To The Moon (in other words) -2007 Mix-
10. Prisoner Of Love -Quiet version-
11. Eternally -Drama Mix-
12. Beautiful World -PLANiTb Acoustica Mix-
bonus tracks:
13. You Make Me Want To Be A Man -Bloodshy Mix-
14. Come Back To Me (Seamus Haji & Paul Emanuel Radio Edit)
15. Dirty Desire (Mike Rizzo Radio Edit)

I'd buy it.

ストロボ・EdGE 20th March 2010 06:35 PM

Beautiful World -PLANiTb Acoustica Mix- may be one of the few remixes I've ever liked in this history of horrible remixes. Is PLANiTb a person...? What else has he(?) done I wonder.

Picaflor 7/4 20th March 2010 06:44 PM

^
^no thanks. her remixes are just ok. her exodus remixes are orgasmic, but everything else is very "meh". I hate her tito remixes so far.

^PLANITb has remixed, simple & clean, hikari, beautiful world, traveling, and distance.

and if she was trying to be traditional with her singles collection and only include A-sides, on real, standard, physical singles.

01. Dareka No Negai Ga Kanau Koro
02. Be My Last
03. Passion
04. Keep Tryin'
05. Boku Wa Kuma
06. Flavor of Life
07. Beautiful World
09. Kiss & Cry
10. HEART STATION
11. Stay Gold
12. Prisoner of Love

This is actually the length of a standard studio album for her. First Love, and Deep River consisted of 12 tracks, and Heart Station, Ultra Blue, and Distance consisted of 13 tracks. She's been releasing more singles. The first singles collection consisted of 15 tracks and expanded over 4 studio albums (first love, distance, deep river, and the first single for ultra blue). If she were to release vol. 2 right now, it would have 12 songs (not counting digital singles) and only expand over 2 studio albums. and is almost the same length as the first vol. collection.

also, this is all assuming she wouldn't add her english work, I actually don't think she can since its under a different company. but if she did add them, the list would look like this.

01. Dareka No Negai Ga Kanau Koro
02. Easy Breezy
03. Devil Inside
04. Be My Last
05. Exodus '04
06. You Make Me Want To Be A Man
07. Passion
08. Keep Tryin'
09. Boku Wa Kuma
10. Flavor of Life
11. Beautiful World
12. Kiss & Cry
13. HEART STATION
14. Stay Gold
15. Prisoner of Love
16. Come Back To Me
17. Dirty Desire

if she did add digital singles, sanctuary, this is love, fight the blues, eternally, and beautiful world remix would be on the list, and I have a feeling she's going to add ballad version of fol anyways to the list since she promoted that song more than the original mix.

It's not a person, it's a studio in London. In her booklets it says "PLANITb Studios London, England"

I think it deserves eternal fame for remixing Hikari / Simple And Clean into equally amazing songs. That's quite rare. Usually remixes ruin the song, or they make a boring song better. But in this case (and imho Beautiful World's case) the original and the remix are both literally incredible!

That's a whole lot more likely, so I think she should release a triple A-side single and then release Vol. 2 a bit later.

Yeah like that will happen.
