Pop-star ayumi hamasaki (31) has announced that 12 self-penned lyric-sheets have been enclosed within 12 out of approximately 400,000 initial pressing copies of her new album [Rock’n’Roll Circus] (released on 14 April).
She has stated that this is a surprise from herself to the buyer. She got the idea of distributing presents, and she enclosed the lyric-cards in order to directly convey the world of music.
She used her favourite pen in order to write on A4 size paper.
With regard to the 12/400,000 probability of obtaining one of these rare items, hamasaki has said, “I put a lot of emotion into writing these, so I hope they will be treasured by whomever receives them.”
Moreover a new song not included on the album, unconfirmed as to whether or not it will be released, will be a free chaku-uta present to fan club members who purchase the album.

Some other facts to point out:
- photobook comes with the CD+DVD version's first press
- photobook is 36 pages
- photobook will ALSO come with the CD+DVD version in the limited box
- 10 new tracks and 14 total tracks are subject to change
- CD only has no first press at the moment, but we have yet to find out more.
- The amount of interludes is not known yet, but people still seem to be saying that there will be 4 with no reasoning other than what has been done for NEXT LEVEL and GUILTY... at the moment though, no one knows anything.
- Sexy little things will be on the album, it just has not been listed in the tracklist since the songs that have currently airing CMs (Microphone, Don't look back) are the only tracks that Japan knows of right now. We know of it from ViVi, but that's about it... there's no reason for it to be listed in the tracklist at the moment.

I have no idea. They did this before.

I suppose that it'll be a while supplies last sort of thing, and when they run out, they run out and they can't "guarantee" a prize any longer.

Hikaruforums? I wouldn't expect anyone to like them over there, since after all, it's a Utada Hikaru forum. Anything Ayu is usually "Gross/fake/plastic" at those places.

I don't see why not. People have a strange notion that if they don't announce a free first press good when people order early, they won't get it.... usually CDJapan has to answer these e-mails with a: "We did not have the information at the time, and you will be getting these first press goods... etc" to people who ask, haha. There's no reason after all to exclude anyone who preordered EARLY. That'd be soooooo dumb if they punished people who ordered as soon as the release was placed on the site...

It's funny.. back in the old days (ehmm.. 2000 - 2003?) hikki fans were more easy going than ayu fans. Nowadays it sounds very opposite.

And like TH said, this time the majority loves the cover. I'm kinda confused tho why they keep saying it's the best cover since Secret...? Usually her album covers aren't bad, and I dun see GUILTY being bad. I really love NL covers because she made a bold statement (or at least the colors she chose were really strong :P).

yup. complain, complain, complain whine, whine, *****, and yell. and what's funny though is no matter how much they all complain, they still come back to the ayumi thread and comment and even download the albums they complain so much about in the end. so bottom line, ayu always wins. ^^

and you give them (whoever "they" are) the attention they want, so in a way, you're giving them what they want too and thus are partly responsible for them coming back to the ayu thread.

i liked the preview i heard of microphone, i love sunset and i like you were... / ballad okay. i hate ayu's rock music for the most part (i think she has the wrong kind of voice for it) so if the album doesn't stay true to the title, i'd like it a lot more. :yes

I think Microphone fits pretty well with the album theme. From the preview we heard anyhow. I've got pretty high hopes for this album. :)

Wow! I don't think I've ever heard of anyone hating Ayu's rock music. For many of my friends, her rock music is the only kind they can stand LOL. But this album looks like a jack of all trades like all of her albums. Rock n Roll may be the "theme" but I'm sure there will be a song on there for everyone. :)

Microphone kind of sounds like it'll be the hard-edged album track with a PV a la 1 LOVE / About You... and usually those songs are amaaaaazing.

I love Ayu's rock style. Always have. I actually like her rock and ballad styles more than her pop style. I think Ayu does rock music perfectly, but of course that is just my opinion.

I actually think so too... Ayu's heavier songs tend to be more well liked among fans, I think... with her upbeat happy pop being least liked and ballads being in the middle.

I really wonder what kind of staging she'll give the songs during the tour... I'm so excited!

I always see so many people say how much they hate Ayu rock. I don't understand why. I think Ayu portrays her emotions so much better through her rock songs. You can really feel what she's feeling.
I hope she does have a dark theme for the tour. Ayu clad in leather with whips, chains and spikes! Maybe even Ayu on a Harley~ haha

I like all of her styles; her variety is what I appreciate so much and is what keeps me from getting bored! That said, her rock songs are actually some of my favorites.

I think even when Ayu is experimenting around with genres, she does rather well... the electronic nature of NEXT LEVEL was a bit rough probably due to time restraints/lack of a real direction, but it was still good, you know?

I wonder if she'll ever tackle reggae or folk, haha.

I think Ayu excels in the rock genre, and with her voice being deeper now it makes it all the more better. I also find her voice much MUCH stronger in rock songs. Even in the A song for XX remix, HELLO BEST VOCALS OF MY LIFE! xD;

Somehow I wonder if people know what they really want from Ayu, haha. Some people hate her upbeat sugary stuff, but then they also dislike the ballads and the rock too... so what's left for them to like!?

Truehappiness, out of curiosity (and I'm not saying this sarcastically), have you ever been upset with an Ayu release or a direction she's taken? You always seem so content with every little thing that to be completely honest, I at times have doubted if its sincere or you just want to be a super loyal-throughout-everything fan. I'm not trying to be rude or anything and sorry if that's how it comes across.

Her rock songs are the best for me <3 I've always prefered the rock genre. I don't think I would be this big of an Ayu fan if she was mostly sugary pop.

I think her deeper voice suits the rock songs more too. I was listening to "GAME" the other day and thought about how i'd love it a lot more if she sang it with her current deeper voice. It's still a bit too high pitched there imo.

It's sincere. Though with BLUE BIRD, it took about 300 plays for me to stop thinking of fairyland's chorus...

I would say that my fandom is like the other fans who listen to Ayu and like everything. (Most of them anyway... the ones that aren't oblivious to bad photography and etc...) With Ayu, I feel as though she's been such a big part of my life for the last 7-8 years and I just appreciate it all and take it all in as it comes. There's nothing that's really ever disappointed me because I always go into it with a clear mind instead of thinking "Oh, this is how it's going to look/sound/etc...". What's the use of being dissatisfied when everything she's done since I became a fan [and before...] has been great to me? It's not like I'm choosing to like it all, but for some reason I just can't dislike anything. In 2008-2009 become kind of "Oh, those?" to her photoshoots and PVs since they became rather... different, but things are definitely looking up now that Kazuyoshi Shimomura and Takahide Ishii are out of the picture for the most part. I guess you could say that I have no expectations when it comes to releases, but putting it that way makes me/other people sound like douchebags, so it's more like I just trust Ayu to satisfy me no matter what she does, and so far, that's worked for me. It's hard to explain since I just listen to the music and let it grow on me without being overtly negative about it... (new things = change = tends to create negative reactions at first due to how new they are...)

I sometimes have issues with tracks like GUILTY and EnergizE, but I realize that I have to be a mood for those songs, haha.

I kinda love Ayu's deeper voice just remove the strained sounds from it and it's really great.

So if a fan likes it all, do you think it automatically makes it insincere? I think that's crazy. Of course we will like some songs and things more or less than others, but as a true fan since 2001 I can honestly say I do like it all, I appreciate all of her dedication and work, and it is 100% sincere.

Noo my favorite is pop too :yes I just really enjoy her rock music too when I normally don't like rock. I guess it's because she has really good composers/arrangers for her rock songs so it doesn't end up sounding like a bunch of noise.

Hm, I suppose I should just add that the limited box set has two posters with it in the first post... hm.

I think my favorite genre of Ayu is her ballads. She definitely shines the most there. Her rock songs are cool but imo a lot of them are starting to sound very generalized... like GAME/1 LOVE/decision/identity... lol they have the similar structure if you get what I mean. At least for her ballads and pop songs I hear some sort of variety which makes me happy. ^^

What happens when the price goes up? I already paid for my preorder, they didn't send me an e-mail or anything to pay more.. but am I supposed to?

Um no. First of all, that was directed at Truehappiness and what I've seen from him in the past 2 years of reading his posts at every Ayu event (single and album releases, photo shoots, PV leaks, etc). He likes every.little.thing and there's nothing wrong with that, but I just doubted if it was really true but after he explained it to me, I understand where he's coming from.

I don't think so, I used to think that but then I saw some of his posts where he expressed his dislike for photo shoots, performances, etc. He just doesn't dwell on what he dislikes and likes to talk more about the things he likes, I think.

Understood. :) It just sounded like you didn't think people should like a little of everything in Ayu's portfolio. So I wanted to ask. :o
