One of your national PV you're proud of.

Hi !
I'm thinking of sharing one of our own national artist music video, that you make feel proud of your country musical landscape :)
One or several videos of course ^^

For me, since i'm French, i choose a french artist's PV.

Vanessa Paradis - TANDEM

A very aesthetical music video, provocative and sexy.
200% FRENCH :yes
broadcast in June 1990 (quite old, huh^^)

I share the lyrics also, with an approximative translation (there's a lot of puns i couldn't transcript sadly :( )

French lyrics ::
Spoiler:

Dans le mot je t'aime
Trop de M
Et jamais un seul N
Dans amour toujours
C'est le pour
Ou le contre c'est souvent la haine
On m'dévisage
On m'envisage
Comme une fille que je ne suis pas
Je m'exile
Trop fragile
Mille et une nuits m'éloignent de moi

Dans le mot je t'aime
Tandem
Autant d'M
Parfois ça brille comme un diadème
Toujours le même thème
Tandem
C'est idem
Bientôt le crash "I don't know when"

Tu es fort en thème
Math-elem

Autant d'M
Parfois ça brille comme un diadème
Toujours le même thème
Tandem
C'est idem
Bientôt le crash "I don't know when"

English translation ::
Spoiler:
In the word 'I LOVE YOU'
Too much 'M'
And never ever an 'N'
In 'FOREVER LOVE'
It's the pros
Or the cons, it's often HATE
I'm stared
I'm envisaged
Like a girl i'm not
I'm going into exile
Too fragile
One Thousand and One nights bring me far away from me

In the word 'I LOVE YOU'
Duo
As much as 'M'
Sometimes it shines like a crown
Always the same theme
Duo
It's the same
Soon the crash, "I don't know when"

You're good at theme
Elementary Mathematics
But in Superior Mathematics you get pale
In 'FOREVER LOVE'
It's the pros
Or the cons, what goes around comes around
You're staring at me
You're envisageing me
Like a girl i'm not
I'm going into exile
So fragile
One Thousand and One nights bring me far away from you

In the word 'I LOVE YOU'
Duo
As much as 'M'
Sometimes it shines like a crown
Always the same theme
Duo
It's the same
Soon the crash, "I don't know when"

It's your turn now :D

Cool idea! Here's mine. It's Ely Guerra with her song "Yo No". It's in crappy quality and the sound is not as great, but it serves its purpose, watch it please! This is from México! :love

edit - It seems I am too stupid to do this, how do you insert a video? If you can't see it here, click here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDVL-hum7vI

great PV!

it's definitely one of my favorite polish music videos but i hate the music. she really sounds like non-english speaker. and this song is boring, just sayin'. but video is totally awesome.

one of the best videos i ever seen (in whole world^^) and too bad, it's so short:

ownsarai 30th November 2010 10:17 PM

For America, there are way too many to even think of.
But as for being proud of one...I actually can't think of ANY. xD

SKYia 30th November 2010 10:45 PM

None, at least there's nothing that comes to my mind right away, I really hate singers from my country, even if there are some nice songs I don't really think I saw their PVs.

NintendoHTF1242 12th December 2010 08:48 AM

I randomly decided to listen to this and fell in love. It's a beautiful song (and the PV is sad). Best of all, it's in my language :)

If the embedding doesn't work

America has treasure troves of great music and PVs.

I also, don't have all day to think of any I'm actually proud of...I never really spent a lot of time looking at PVs...and there are tons...

I don't know...Pink Floyd's The Wall? :laugh does that count as an mv?

Amrai-chan 12th December 2010 10:09 AM

Thriller? I don't know there's a lot out there if you know where to look.

Talula by Tori Amos:

http://rutube.ru/tracks/664181.html

or Gravity by Vienna Teng

In both cases I think it has to do with me liking the song more than the MV. In Vienna's case she doesn't have any other MV's.

Goodbye by Asobi Seksu

I like the song and all the colors?

I second Pink Floyd's The Wall but I don't think it counts lol.

YuriChan 12th December 2010 10:20 AM

Madonna- Frozen :luv2

Tori Amos and Vienna Teng are GREAT, GREAT, GREAT and their music is wonderful!
Tori is actually my favourite singer in the whole world!! :heart

By the way, Vienna does have another MV...

...but I have never seen the full version for it!

I don't care about American mainstream music, but Tori, Vienna and a lot of others (Kate Bush, Sarah McLachlan, ...) always show me that there are great musicians in America when you know where to look for them!!

And no...I'm not from America...:D

As for my own country...erm...nothing! -.-''

zellyx 12th December 2010 04:49 PM

I find almost all my favorite English music is from the UK!! Elton John, Imogen Heap, Adele, Coldplay, etc....
so, I had such a hard time finding an American. American Music can be good if you know where to look (look away from mainstream! :) ).

Regina Spektor!

Absolutely beautiful video and interesting style! the song is very unique.

AyuHamasaki01 12th December 2010 06:48 PM

Here in the Netherlands, we don't have much to be proud of.
Exept for this woman, her name is Caro Emerald and I think she's amazing! I totally love her

You have good taste. I looked and it seems the person who posed the video had helped shoot it. It looks like it's on DVD. I'll have to start saving up if I want to see the full version. I love her cover of Green Island Serenade. I love Vienna's voice. She's pretty awesome. I hope to see Vienna live someday.

Tori's good too. I had the opportunity to see her live a few years ago. It was worth it. If you haven't seen her live I recommend you go see her if you can. :)
