Ayu = sweetfish!?!?@@@@

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayu

I recently wikied Ayu and this is what i get...

Quote:

The ayu (or sweetfish; Plecoglossus altivelis) is an amphidromous fish, the only species in its genus, Plecoglossus Temminck & Schlegel, 1846, and in family Plecoglossidae (order Osmeriformes). Native to the Palearctic ecozone, it occurs in rivers, lakes, and coastal waters of northern Hokkaido in Japan, the Korean Peninsula, China, and Taiwan.
...so should I continue to call Ayu by Ayu???:thud :thud :thud

Hazuki 10th August 2006 05:54 PM

This should be in the "Enquiries" section ;)

But there was already a topic about it, so here's the link:

Ayu is a shortended version of her name which is by coincidence a fish

Her name is Ayumi Hamasaki so wiki that

immel 10th August 2006 06:26 PM

Pretty funny her nickname is sharing the name of an amphidromous fish... lol.

Unless you'll always think of something wet and slippery when you say Ayu I think you should keep on calling her that ;).

alternarist 10th August 2006 07:01 PM

lol... it jus makes me relate ayu to a fish.. -____-

ayu1m 10th August 2006 10:12 PM

Except for that part where it does-

Eh... actually my intention was to start a fun topic about Ayu's connotation with fish so it was meant for chatting more than enquiries, so....

a bit random but

do you know that the word Ayu is a type of fish available in Japan ?

sorry I watch a show called Japan Hour which's aired every weekend on Channel News Asia & it just so happen that they were talking about this particular fish called Ayu .

I remembered it was served grilled on the stick in an inn :laugh
