Personally i was bothered by how some Tokyo fans looked so cold and bored during her concert lmao

Yeah we are there to hear her. It’s fine to go crazy during the encore when she wants us to sing and maybe occasionally during some louder songs like WARNING, but be considerable ^^

Baco__ 10th February 2018 10:46 PM

That's a cultural shock I consider rather easy to avoid, but at the same time it's one someone isn't willing to avoid haha I mean, to sit and shut the whole concert seems like not a difficult task, but at the same time you came from the other side of the world to see someone and can't even sing along? Haha

Katsuyuki012 10th February 2018 11:57 PM

Well, I much more prefer to just watch & listen tbh. I can always sing a long when she wants us to but why listen to my own voice when I can hear her live. But that's matter of opinion I suppose! I just can't imagine being there and singing songs like FLOWER for example xD

If you decide to do so though, then be considerable as mentioned above. If you do, tell us how Japanese people reacted though xD

Baco__ 11th February 2018 01:52 AM

As I know few ayumi's lyrics I'd probably be quiet most of the concert lmao

but when it comes to BoA, Utada and Namie, whose lyrics I know by heart, I won't control myself, I'm pretty sure haha

But I guess the fans' reactions won't change whether it's an Ayumi or BoA concert haha I will tell you as soon as I know haha

Party_King 11th February 2018 11:23 AM

There's also the "option" to sing loudless, if you can't hold it back...

...and nobody could hear you pronouncing the lyrics wrong! ;)

Yeah, better not sing along unless Ayu asks to. Otherwise you'll be universally hated and ruin the experience for everyone. Japanese are obsessed with rules. They post concert behavior rules and report to staff if they don't like someone's behavior.

Ayu releases that either show nudity or fetish clothing or caused some level of controverse for being "too sexy":

Album covers:
Loveppears
Duty
I Am...
RAINBOW
My STORY
Party Queen

(some people did complain Sixxxxxx and A One covers were too sexy over here. MIJ actually can be understood as referencing fetish)

Single covers with nudity, fetisg wear/bikini shots:
Boys & Girls
appears
kanariya
H
Step you
Mirrorcle World

(but pretty much every summer single over is a shot of Ayu invitingly looking at the camera wearing swin wear)

PVs that references sexual behavior or shows her in underwear/fetish wear:
SURREAL
Because of You
STEP you
my name's WOMEN
Ladies Night
1LOVE
Mirrorcle World
Rule
Sparkle (this one actually is visually based on a bdsm porn movie)
XOXO
Warning
Sayonara

Tours with pole dancing or Ayu in fetish wear or underwear or sexual choreo:
TA Limited
AT05
AT07
AT08
AT09
AT10
AT12
PSC
AT15
JTB

(I'm not counting CDLs, A-Nations or TV because I can't remember them all. I'm also ignoring outfits that pretty much just showed lots of legs, boobs or belly, what would had made me include pretty much every concert she ever had).

I'm not counting her photoshots for magazines or photobooks, were you can actually find more bikini shots, more bdsm inspired looks, etc.

Ayu shows lots of skin. Much more than Hikki, Ai Otsuka, Namie Amuro, even if they sing openly about sex and Ayu doesn't. Her live performances also goes on a more sugestive route far more often.

She also most likely references BDSM and fetish as much as she references Circuses. Most of her "kawaii" performances are actually the ones she wears the less clothes and the sexy version of some innocent character. The kawaii performances from AT06, AT08, AT09, AT10, AT12 have Ayu pretty much dressed as a character from a hentai manga.

I'm sorry, but her image is VERY sexual, and it was since Loveppears. The reason she isn't western-popstarish sexy is because the fetishes and how a desireble woman is perceived in both cultures is largely different. What doesn't make it any less sexual.

Meh. None of your examples come anywhere close to Madonna having women dancing on her stage bare-breasted, or Lady Gaga prancing about topless except for tiny pieces of tape covering her nipples, or Miley Cyrus's twerking and dry-humping with male dancers.

[Edit]
I appreciate the cultural differences. That's why I'm saying Ayu's nowhere near any of these, despite perhaps "pushing the edge" by different standards.

Baco__ 11th February 2018 03:25 PM

By y'all standards I'm starting to think Koda Kuni is a gospel singer, then.

Regarding the concert: Chris85 that's what I was afraid haushauys

~angel*ayumi~ 11th February 2018 03:47 PM

I hate it in general when ppl sing along so I am glad nobody does at Ayu concerts. (Exept for songs like Boys&Girls when it´s wanted)
I had that once at a musical and I was close to punch that girl in her face, srsly ><
I go to a concert/musical to enjoy the show and not to have someone sing crooked tones beneath me.
I love to sing along my fave songs... but in the car, or under the shower were I don´t bother other ppl.

yabieru 11th February 2018 05:05 PM

I think you people are overreacting a bit. It depends of the type of concert you attend. Of course in a musical it's bad to sing along but in a pop-rock concert?

I've been in different type of concerts like Ayu or Lady Gaga and in most of them people are singing. It's not like you are screaming in someone's ear but hearing 15,000 people sing Bad Romance is totally a experience.

I was at Ayu's Osaka show last summer and I sang almost the whole concert, and it was totally fine, and my boyfriend even danced and sang with the japanese girl who was in front of us. But the girl next to me (japanese too) was screaming "Midori" everytime Midori showed up. She was annoying, not me.

People can be bothered everywhere. Not necessarily for being japanese. Just have fun. Anyway when you are there, you read the atmosphere and figure out what you can and can't do :)

KittyKathy 11th February 2018 05:09 PM

In Europe, people sing and scream all the time during the concert. They compete who will be louder :D. I'm used to it.
It's very strange to be quiet all the time. When I watched her concert for the first time, I wondered why nobody was singing. I later found out why.

Yeah i know concerts in Europe are different. I was at One OK Rock concert last December and stayed in the back because of that. But I was nearly squeezed when I tried to buy a shirt after the concert o.o
I definatly prefer concerts in Japan xD

EndOfTheWorld 11th February 2018 05:24 PM

If I was to go to a concert in Japan, I would want to respect the Japanese way of doing things. Reading the air is important in Japan. I believe in Japan it is considered rude to be rowdy during a performance.

Agree. In europe you need a strong voice, in Japan you need a strong arm, srsly they wave with the light uchiwas the whole concert long xD

KittyKathy 11th February 2018 05:34 PM

I could barely breathe on the concerts. That's why I always choose grandstand.

Baco__ 11th February 2018 05:36 PM

I wasn't thinking of screaming the whole concert because my voice would vanish within 2, 3 songs hahah I was talking about singing more to myself and stuff hahha I guess you all thought I was speaking of screaming xD (I mean, there are songs we feel like screaming - I would in appears, for example Hahaha - but I don't feel like keeping my mouth shut for 2 hours haha and thank you yabieru for your comment haha I feel relieved!

BTW, who the hell sing along at a musical????

EndOfTheWorld 11th February 2018 05:41 PM

I personally would prefer the Japanese style. Concerts over here can get way too crazy for my taste. I love how civilized it is over there.:laugh
I also would much rather see uchiwas and light sticks than an ocean of phones in the air.

That's what you think. Japanese are mostly polite, so they probably struggled to ask you to stop. I'd definitely tell you to stfu. In Japan screaming and cheering is considered normal, singing is not.

This. I would have at least given you the look if you were too loud. The Japanese isually scream between the songs or if there is a dramatic pause or something unexpected.

truehappiness 12th February 2018 07:10 AM

I think they mostly would want to avoid confrontation at a concert so if they were gonna say anything it'd be afterward even if they had a problem.

No need to be rude. You are talking like I was screaming like crazy, which is far from reality.

Marcelo 12th February 2018 09:36 PM

I’d say common sense and being aware of your surrounding is the key :) I was at the Cirque de Minuit concert at Yoyogi back in 2015. I had my seat on the second row from the stage, and EVERYONE was screaming AND singing almost all the time (of course not in the ballad section, except wording out or quietly singing, but that just fits the mood). Even Japanese people. In my opinion it depends completely on your seating location and how the people around you are acting. You kinda get the general vibe of things when you’re there, and go with the flow :)

Corvina 12th February 2018 09:43 PM

That's also my experience, singing along loud isn't a problem if you don't overdo it.
Maybe most Ayu fans are stricter in general though.

hud 13th February 2018 04:08 AM

I'm glad I can watch her shows from home then. lol

hayasaki 13th February 2018 04:15 AM

it actually depends in the surrounding seats. I noticed that people in arena seats are more reserved and behaved based on my experience. Whereas we were really partying hard in the stand the last two concerts I attended at. i remember there were two Japanese teenage girls who were like having their own production number on their seats and singing back in made in Japan tour looool. As for me, i usually sing just in lower volume whenever i attend unless Ayu asked everyone to sing and I’ll be like girl gimme my mic!!

Zeke. 13th February 2018 05:08 AM

I usually just like to sing the “whoah whoas” “la las” and “yeah yeahs” like in evolution, STEP you, Mirrorcle World and Boys & Girls. But then again I’m not much of a vocal singer, I prefer to just mouth the words. I love dancing though so I suppose it might be tough for someone who loves to sing along to stifle themselves cause if someone told me I couldn’t dance I’d be like fuck off.

CeReSu 13th February 2018 08:34 AM

Well when I saw her back in 2010 for RnRC people cried and yelled when she first arrived (me too), it was crazy! But then, during the main show people were really quiet. Me too but I think it's because I wanted to see everything and listen to Ayu with attention.
The encore part was crazy again, you know with B&G, Sunrise... people sang, it was so much fun!!
I was at the second floor at Yoyogi.

pedronekoi 13th February 2018 02:10 PM

I attended the two first dates of CdM Tour and it was my frist time seeing Ayu live. To be honest, I was surprised with the japanese audience because I've been hearing that they are very quiet during the concert and not much engaging but it was the opposite. When the buzz in the beginning started ringing people just went crazy (me as well) and when ayu appeared it kept the same for a long minute (even when she was singing). Of course during the ballad songs people were just paying attention but during 1 LOVE everyone was crazy, screaming and waving. During The Show Must Go On I was singing my heart out and jumping lol The japanese girl on my side even get into my vibe and started jumping as well. lol

~angel*ayumi~ 13th February 2018 03:09 PM

The screaming at the beginning and when Ayu appears seems normal xD

Sooooo now the wait begins for the results, one week to go *excited*

Yeah, same thing here when I saw Ayu for the first dates of JTB last year. I'm not sure why everyone's saying Japanese people are super quiet during concerts? Because people went IN. Even like 10 minutes before the show, people were chanting with their friends spread across the arena for Ayu to come out. And during songs like WARNING, evolution, You & Me, etc. people were singing, jumping, dancing, and bopping with the light sticks. I actually had a really hard time keeping up with their energy, lol. Same thing when I saw Kuu at her W FACE Tour last year - that crowd was WILD af, everyone was standing and jumping. I go to a lot of pop concerts and I've rarely seen ones that lively over here in America.

It doesn't matter. If you're standing right next to person, even if you're singing calmly, it's very evident and very irritating.

Earth_maiden 16th February 2018 07:16 AM

I personally noticed a big difference between regular concert days and "filmed" concert days. People cheer louder, they're more expressive and they stand the entire time. On a non-filmed day most people would sit down during the interludes and not be as loud. I sat down during an interlude on a filmed day and got quite a few dirty looks. XD

~angel*ayumi~ 20th February 2018 06:43 AM

Also won all of my tickets ^^
there goes 500 bucks xD
I am going to both Saitama shows with friends^^

takamioda 20th February 2018 07:02 AM

In LivePocket > My Ticket => There's an "unused" button. What does it for? Does anyone know?

Zeke. 20th February 2018 07:12 AM

Wow, first time I was denied tickets - I won both saitama, but was declined for July 22 Osaka. And here in my head just a few moments ago I said to myself “Everyone is in a frenzy; I really don’t think there’s anything to worry about...” lolol.

I have a friend who won 4 through domestic TA though. Idk if he’ll accept them though so if there is anyone else wanting July 22 Osaka let me know so I can tell him there are other buyers before he commits.

The interesting thing is that I applied for the Osaka date at the very last minute - the ballot was about to close in 5 minutes or so. So I do think whether you get tickets or not is dependent on whether or not you enter the ballot early - however, which tickets you get is not dependent on when you applied in comparison to others who got selected to receive tickets at all.

What do you mean “Idk if he’ll accept them though”. Aren’t like the purchases final? Or can you return tickets?

TA domestic (non-global) has the option of accepting or declining the tickets cause they go to the convenience store to pay for them. Global TA members have the funds withdrawn automatically and don’t have the option to decline.

The pruchases are final for international TA as they automatically charge your card if you win tickets. Might be different for domestic TA.

For some reason I always tought it was near impossible not to win them...

That’s why I think it’s something like they set a limit like “We has 500 tickets to give away now” and the first 500 are selected to secure one of them and the rest are declined. Then then they open another tier of tickets and reopen the ballot.

Later they assign specific seats. But no doubt I think the earlier you apply the better chance you have at gaurenteeing a spot, just not a SPECIFIC spot.

So I’m not sure sure it has to do with the date itself - poll on twitter had saitama as most TA members going. Like I said, I applied Osaka last 5 minutes ballast was open - Saitama I applied within the first hour.

thesweetseason 20th February 2018 07:40 AM

Okay I won all my tickets!

Which means extra tickets for Fukuoka and Hiroshima! I just want my money back. Please pm.

If I am selling on do I still have to pick them up from the venue?

ayuuk 20th February 2018 07:40 AM

What does A7 mean?

Perhaps. I applied literally minutes after the ballot had opened. I never really understood why wouldn’t they sell tickets to people who are ready to give them money. It’s better to say that as a TA member you can pick 2 shows and grab a certain quantity of tickets without having to go thru the lottery. Anyways, I guess it also depends on the Arena. Osaka Jo is a smaller arena, so I figure they actually have more tickets for Saitama.

So a lot of us will be going to Saitama it seems?

It doesn’t mean anything. I think it’s like they set the parameters “A1-A50” are accepted, anything surpassing that is declined. My A1 was the worst spot of all the shows I’ve been to.

I was stunned as well, when I saw that I was denied tickets for 22 Jul. I also felt that there's nothing to worry about. Yes, I acknowledged the small chance of me being unable to get the tickets, but didn't expect it to happen in reality.

I helped my friends to ballot for April 7 and 8. All tickets won.

Tell me why...

I need 4 tickets on Jul 22. Who's willing to sell?

When did you enter the ballot? I’m curious if there’s any weight to my “apply late, get denied theory.” Lol.

Edit: well I guess you applied for saitama same time as Osaka and you won those so I guess my theory is bunk. Lol.

Also my friend won 4 but I wanna go at least so we may have 3 or if he wants to go then 2 extra.

Thanks for the offer! But I am going with 3 other friends, so preferably I need 4 tickets together. If there's any changes, I will let you know is that ok?

Well, the balloting period was between 02 - 13 Feb. I balloted on 06 Feb.

Will you be entering the second round of ballot?

Hm, maybe by that time the parameters for Osaka had already been exceeded. I probably won’t enter ballot again.

I am surprised, there still are tickets unclaimed for 22nd July. I mean. If there are tickets to go for a second ballot. Why can't we get the tickets on the first ballot haha.

Idk that’s why I hypothesize they just say “well open 50 for now” and then if anyone is decline they open more. But as it is a computer system they just set parameters as benchmarks or something.

Thanks for your reply! So you mean A3 does not mean better seats than A8.
