Whatever can I do ? I had surely thought That we would continue to walk Laugh, breathe and even have an idle talk Just as usual The city is active again today As if nothing had happened What are you thinking of ? How do I look in your eyes ? You have surely become So strong and tender Yes, much more than what you were After knowing the meaning of pain and love I remember again What I think always exists Just as usual Is not a matter of course at all You taught it to me Let's make a miracle |
:) THANK YOU MASA!!
I really want to hear the song now :( |
Thanks alot. Me too, i hope the song will be available by friday.
|
hayaaaa! sugoi!
thank you!!! |
Thanks for the translation :)
|
I think the lyrics are kind of a continuation to untitled ~for her~
"Because it was too sudden I couldn't accept it I wished someone would say, "It's a lie" And laugh with a mischievous look What should I think of ? Whatever can I do ? I had surely taken That we would continue to walk Laugh, breathe and even have an idle talk Just as usual" Sure seems like it. |
Oh no, don't tell me she still hasn't gotten over her feelings for nagase..:no
Thanks masa for the weonderful translation! |
^yup seems like she's still thinking of Nagase?
Very nice lyrics by Ayu again!! Can't wait to hear it!! thanks for the translation! =) |
To ruixiong89
I agree with you. I felt it was most likely while translating the lyrics. |
So, if it's kind of a continuation of 'untitled ~for her~', that means it's probably a ballad. Yay!!
|
Thank you! ^_^ I just have a few complains with the translation before it starts spreading across the web and becomes official lol.
But what kind of English is "I had surely taken"? I don't understand this sentance.. "You taught it to me Let's do a miracle" That sounds like a porn scene. You should rephrase "Let's do a miracle", 'cause it sounds hilarious. XD "I remember again What I think always exists Just as usual Is not a matter of course at all" The "Is not a matter of course at all" sounds off. I synonym for "course" would help a lot I think, because I don't understand it. Well, I kind of do but it sounds awkward. And the "to think of" in the whole song (especially "What I think always exists") should be replaced with like "to long for", because it fits in better. "I remember again, what I long for always exists" means that she wants to be with this person, but then she remembers that she is there with her and exists. The "think" is just not very emotional and off. Again, I appreciate the translation a lot and am only pointing out a few things. I'm no JP genious AT ALL lol, but these things sound very off, IMO. Edit: Oh yea, "And laugh with a mischievous look"; "look" would be better as "face". You can't really have a mischievous look unless you dress up like Britney Spears with a whip. A face is more like an expression, which is what Ayu meant, IMO. |
Yeah, I cansee it now too. Phew....
|
Seems it is about her friend, or maybe even about Nagase, but it seems more likely to be about her friend. Thank you for the translation. :)
|
I first translated the part as "I had surely thought". Then I remember such phrase as "take it for granted" and changed it to "taken". But as it doesn't seem appropriate in this case, I change it back to "thought".
|
thanks for the translation, you did a good job =)
|
Thank you! Those are some beautiful lyrics...

So is it about Nagase, loss of hearing or her friend? I think it's the latter, it has that kind of feel...
|
thanks for sharing the lyrics :)

I really think she's talking about MTRGL becomin HEAVENARK :innocent LOL j/k It does fit more with this "deceased friend". A bit of cold water here, since I was expecting this song "Life" to convey more of a generic feeling or be more related to her fans in general, rather than being directed at one person only :no |
maybe it's about all of those things....talking about ayu's life?
|
Thank you!
I was waiting and waiting... |
very beautiful lyrics. thanks!
|
wonderful lyric!
thx , masa |
Thank you ^^
|
They do sound like they're about her friend~
I guess it kinda makes sense, since Mirrorcle World is the extended ver. from a song from GUILTY, for Life to be a "continuation" of another GUILTY song. But if Life is like that in order to keep the GUILTY theme to the single, then it might not be on the next album... I'd want the next album to have a different theme/feeling (not because I dislike GUILTY, I love it, I just want something new next time), so I guess I'd rather not see Life in it. Plus, it would be nice for such an important 10th anniversary have only songs that you can't get anywhere else in her discography IMO. EDIT: BTW thanks so much for the translation!! I can't believe I forgot to say that ^^;; |

Beautiful lyrics as always. Thanks for the translation! |
Thanks! I think that the questions in the song might be refered to ayu herself.
"What are you thinking of ? How do I look in your eyes? " and of course the first ones. |
luv the lyrics, they are beautiful and touching. i cant wait to hear the song
|
nothing new
not as strong as mirrorcle world want to hear the song |

The lyrics are nice as usual, but it really kind of sounds like Ayu is running out of ideas. These sound the same as a lot of her other lyrics :/
But thank you anyway. |
Thanks for the great lyrics!

The thing is that the stories are always the same, the only difference lies in HOW the message is conveyed through her lyrics. She can use difference styles, so I personally still think it's fine at the end of the day. Elaboration on a same point is always good. |
hmm.. why i think that ayu's talking about herself? about her deaf?
because it's a LIFE.. when the news spread people make a big fuss about it..but then... it's just end like this..like nothing has happened before~ |

thanks a lot!
that lyric is amazing and beautiful! |
thanks
|
Thank you, masa! :D
It seems the theme is that life goes on, even though there is some event that stops you. I don't think she has a theme like that before...? I can't really recall.... Also, "Let's do a miracle" does sound strange. Perhaps, "Let's make a miracle?" |
Well... Life could encompass her friend, Tomoya and her hearing impaired problem... Life goes on... I think that's what she wants to tell us.
Thanks, masa! |
I couldn't find the phrase "make a miracle" in the online dictionary. But if it's commonly used in English, I think it's the best of course. I'd like to hear other people's opinions.
|
Well, 'do a miracle' doesn't sound too wrong. It's like you're creating a miracle, if you get what I mean...
|

Maybe moreso as "Let's have a miracle"? Definitely not "let's do a miracle", though, it just doesn't make sense in English. But, great translation, thank you for your hard work! :) |
i love the lyrics...i definitly think it's about Ayu's departed friend.
what about raise a miracle? because doesn't okosu have the connotation of waking someone? or am i off on this XD |
LOVE IT! Thank you!
|
I'm so excited to hear this song <3

But then that must mean she's been writing about the same topic for awhile now. Why not something uplifting? Or something new rather than self-doubt and loss? I think she's emphasized her point thoroughly enough already. |
Quote:
I see no problem with it, I'm sure she'll come out with an uplifting song soon, it'll just take time. She is a human being after all. :yes |
I change the part to "Let's make a miracle". Thank you.
To tehxiinae "Okosu" has mainly two meanings. 1. raise (a person) 2. make (an accident, a fire, etc.) happen And it's the latter in this case. |
To Melrose
"Omou" is "think", and "negau" or "nozomu" is "long for". And, you know, "a matter of course" is a common phrase. But I'd like to hear other people's opinions for this part, too. |
I'm actually kind of glad that most (if not, ALL of us) could point out that the lyrics either reflected about the death of her friend (Natsuko) OR about her breakup (Nagase) OR about Ayu's hearing loss.
Because I would think that at THAT moment when she wrote the song, it was really about her life (at that juncture) and these might be the things that mattered to her. Perhaps she didn't intend for a single lyrical work to be linked to so many areas, but I think it gives the song more appeal since it's multi-faceted. |
I think we might get some clarification as to what the song means later when we get magazine interviews.. :o
|
I still think the verb "to think" is wrong. >.>

I just hope we hear something new from her soon (in terms of lyrics). Sometimes it makes me sad to always listen to depressing stuff. But even if she never did change the topic of her lyrics, it wouldn't bother me. I can't even understand it anyways. It's just some other people had mentioned this (the lyrics sounding all the same) about her lyrics from her GUILTY album, and I started noticing it was kind of true. But I guess what you're saying is true in a way....even though I still have my doubts. Practically all her sad songs like this sound almost exactly the same when it comes to the lyrics. But it's not a big deal for me because they're still good lyrics afterall. It's just a matter of similarity. There's nothing wrong with trying to sort out your problems, but w/e is bothering Ayu must be really bad because she's been writing stuff like this for awhile now. It's just depressing to see her like this -it really is. And I guess it's kind of just wearing to see lyrics like this over and over. Sorry, I'm kind of rambling and I know those are a few different opinions....but yeah...I just hav a lot going through my mind when I read Ayu's lyrics. |
Thanks for the lyrics masa!
I can't wait for the song! :) |
THANK YOU MASA *does not listen to life*
i dont want to tempt myself :( |
thank you for ur translation of the lyrics
the lyrics is quite beautiful hope the song is beautiful too |
Niiice.. I like it :yes Thanx for the lyrics and translation. I so wanna hear it!!
|
ah how come i missed this thread before!
i like the lyrics a lot, especially the line "Let's make a miracle". thanks masa again for translating! |
I don't understand how you guys are interpreting this as a depressing song. I find it rather uplifting; reflecting on loss, learning from it, and moving forward. It's an incredibly possitive idea.
|
I wonder why she never made a PV for it? She does for most of her other singles, and this is considered a single, isn't it?
|
Wow.... Life is pretty deep.
