Ayu phone?

I've never heard this mentioned. I was randomly looking at Ayu CM's on YT and found this phone commercial for a limited design leopard A print pattern.

Of course it's an old phone, but I wonder if anyone was able to get one? :D

Highly unlikely as it is an old phone and Japan only, oh and limited! But it looks kinda cool, reminds me of Nokia 3210 with an external antenna. =P

That would have been awesome to have :luv2.

AngelSenshi 23rd June 2010 09:28 AM

Yeah, highly unlikely people here have it :( The odds are against us at least; limited edition, Japan-only, and it's a long time ago (and good chance at that time not many people were able to buy things casually through a middleman over the internet or something)

But it would've been totally cool to have! I don't think it's ever even seen on auction sites and such...

japanese mobiles (as angelsenshi mentioned) work only inside Japan unfortunately..just to collect the item, did you check on ebay? I had a first check but it seems there's isn't

i believe some japanese phone can be hack and then able to use in other countries.

There used to be a seller at a singapore forum who sell japanese phones and plenty of local buy from him.
i was VERY TEMPTED then, coz i love the design of japanese phone....but i just started working and my pay aren't enough to buy it.... sad... if i can find any japanese phone now, i will sure buy it!!!

Oh my god, I remember when this was new!! And now it's obscure!!! I FEEL SO OLD XD!!

The A MODEL does come up occasionally on Yahoo! Auctions Japan, I do see it fairly regularly. Never usually more than one up for auction at once, however, and sometimes I see the fake display version of it (basically just a non-functioning phone casing).

LacusClyne 23rd June 2010 06:10 PM

^how much are those dummies set?

it's stupid to buy the dummy set.... because those are for showcase purposes, they are FREE. selling that at any price above then 2000yen is a rip off.

PEARL 24th June 2010 03:51 AM

@Genie : you can check out sgclub/hardwarezone ah~ i do see some sellers selling lots of different model of Japanese phone.. docomo/softbank etc. hehe

Delirium-Zer0 25th June 2010 06:53 PM

Lacus - Technically, selling them above any price isn't really "right", but rarity makes something valuable. Only one per licensed tu-ka dealer, and most of them were likely thrown away once the phone wasn't being pushed anymore. There aren't many of them left, 2000 yen would be a hell of a deal for a dummy. I usually see them go for between 4000 and 10,000 yen (I personally could reasonably be expected to pay about 6,000 yen for one).

Then again, I find officially pressed promos to be extremely valuable, while most people find them worthless (I only find the laser-printed blank cassette and CD-R ones worthless since they're easy to fake, unless they're in special casing or recorded on something like DAT tapes that most normal people don't have... even then I proceed with caution :P~). There are alot of things I'd be willing to pay for that people would never touch :P

Needless to say, a complete set of the actual working A MODEL phone is worth more, since it is functional and, if it has all its pieces, is in perfect condition nearly a decade after its release. But I wouldn't pay more than $200 for the whole thing since it is unusable outside of Japan, has limited functionality compared to modern phones, and outside of big ayu fans there's no demand for it.

I saw one on ebay when it came out, but it was $300 :thud

(I still begged my mom for it)

Ironic that I totally just read the article (more like stub) about that phone on eneabba yesterday: http://eneabba.net/ayu/disco/albums/03.Duty.htm
There's a little thing with pics at the bottom of that page.
