I don't think she would include the Secret/GUILTY era stuff onto A BEST 3 (if she were to release one) since they were all on A COMPLETE already.

If it went the way A BEST 2 went...all the songs I hated off the last 3 albums. -_-

Well, half of A BEST 2 was also featured on A COMPLETE, so I don't think she really cares if things overlap.

Also, A COMPLETE featured the main A-sides only, so she could still include the other songs on A BEST 3. Like Beautiful Fighters, fated, Decision, etc. Or even album tracks that definitely deserve to be on her BEST, like Marionette.

Beautiful Fighters and decision were B-sides, that's why they weren't included. As for leaving out the other A-side in double/triple/quadruple A-side singles, I don't get why she did that but ok lol.

It'd probably be Secret through RnRC, and exclude the newer singles (like A BEST 2 did for everything after B&D) I could see MW being dropped tbh

I think if it were released this year it would exclude the RnRC era.

If it were a "classic" A BEST and include album tracks (and not just a single collection) I think it would include tracks such as Ladies Night, rainy day, JEWEL, 1Love, Secret, Curtain call, LOVE'n'HATE, and possible the RnRC singles plus Microphone and Don't look back. Dunno really!

I think its too early she needs another 2 or 3 albums before it can seriously be talked about but if she did do one tomorrow it would probably be something like:

It all depends on what you consider an "A-side" or "B-side", since they don't actually exist anymore. I mean we don't flip around the CD anymore, do we.

In your definition, a B-side is a song that is only included on a single and not on an album. However, you could also define a B-side as a song that's not included in the title of the single.

So.. You were.../BALLAD = Double A-side. But in BLUE BIRD's case, BLUE BIRD is the A-side and Beautiful Fighters is the B-side.

actually, I was thinking of A BEST III yesterday as well!
I thought "well, it should be released next year (2011) because it will be a decade since she realeased her first A BEST (being in the vogue for anniversaries....)
But I cannot consider the contents now since I haven't heard the lastest singles (I wanted to wait until the album release - maybe I'll do it now)

I'd like to see A BEST 3 be made up of all the songs off albums that got PVs... like Marionette, JEWEL, and others.

You're right, we don't flip over anything. So the standard definition of a B-side these days is any song included on a single but not promoted. 'Beautiful fighters' and 'decision' are A-Sides: both have PVs, and promoted in the CMs for the singles. The question boils down to whether 'Beautiful fighters' and 'Decision' were played on music channels across Japan... if they were, they are technically A-Sides, regardless of whether they were intended to be or not.

Songs like 'teens', 'Life', and 'SEVEN DAYS WAR' are true B-Sides. They have no PV, are not featured in promotional materials for the singles, and more commonly do not end up on records. (Though Ayumi did put RED LINE on RnRC...)

In the case of 'blossom', it is technically an a-side because it was promoted as such. It was included in the CM for MOON/blossom, and is featured in the title, and even if it didn't have an accompanying PV, those former two things establish it as an a-side.

It sounds weird, but it's really just a very obscure thing. I wish the idea of B-sides would drop already.
