POLL: Is your liking of a song affected by the MV for that song?

Question to all the AHS memebers here!
Have you ever based weather you like a song or not based on its
music video? (if it does have a music video obviously)
For example i really didnt like the music video for Sweet Season, except for the end part of it, which i thought was really great, but i would have prefered
more Ayu singing as opposed to little kids, but anyways. This kind of turned me off from the song. When i got my L single, i basically listened to VR and LA
and didnt listen much to SS, but then i actually just listened to the song itself
and i have fallen in love with the song.
Has this ever happened to you? Like you like a song because of its mv or not like a song because of it MV?

Sweet Seasons' PV was also lackluster and boring for me except for the beginning where the kids call her "Mom" and the end where she awakens with the rocker outfit on...Ayumi is the only singer where her PVs and songs usually match....so I'd say yeah in her case, a PV and a song that match usually influence the liking of a song.

not really. if it's an amazing song i'll still love it if it comes out with a crappy PV. a big example here is the TO BE pv. that video is one of the worst i have ever seen but the song is so amazing and the PV can't take anything away from that. i also find myself not being able to like a song just because of its PV.. i mean the PV can make listening to the song more tolerable but once i listen to it without the PV i'll still be reminded of what a bad song it is. another example would be the ourselves PV, it's one of the best i have ever seen but i still do not like that song and won't listen to it outside of the PV.

kirei_ayumi 6th October 2010 01:32 AM

nope, not at all. like for me, who cares if the mv is good or not, its really about the song

xLitax 6th October 2010 01:33 AM

No, not really. I don't really like is this LOVE?, but the PV is one of my favorites. :yes

freedreamer 6th October 2010 02:11 AM

hmmm...because I associate songs with colours, the PV does affect the colour i see that song in LOL (sorry im a bit weird in this aspect).
but there are indeed some songs that are so good, a PV doesnt take away much from it (for me, the one that comes off most recent is crossroad)

sometimes a good pv can make me like a song more, but otherwise no. they never make me like a song less...

except maybe Lady dynamite. :irked

jbrat2219 6th October 2010 03:31 AM

Nope, not really. With Ayu, I generally am very black and white. I either like the song or I don't, only time can change that not a PV.

This. Plus, sometimes when I don't like a song and then I watch a pv, it makes me like a song because I could relate the song to something.

butterfly_ayu 6th October 2010 03:45 AM

sometimes, depends on how good the pv is (like I didn't love Rule very much the first time I heard it, but the pv just turned out to be great, and I liked it more then). but usually a good pv never makes me like a song that I don't like in the first place~

visionfactory 6th October 2010 04:16 AM

YES, SO MUCH

I don't mind listening to MOON because I had a bad imrpession of the song after watching the PV

rakeru 6th October 2010 04:54 AM

Definitely. Mostly, it helps me realize the true potential of a song, but in rare cases it may discourage a song. I wouldn't have appreciated ourselves or Because of you if they didn't have such amazing PVs. I would have been better off without Sparkle or Lady Dynamite's PVs.

bondingo 6th October 2010 05:17 AM

It really depends on the situation for me. Some songs I just love so much that the PV doesn't affect my liking of it at all, whereas other times an amazing video will make me like the song that much more because I'll associate them. It works the opposite way sometimes as well, but that doesn't happen nearly as often. I actually don't think that's ever been the case with an Ayu PV (a bad PV making me like a song less that is).

pommy48 6th October 2010 05:23 AM

Not really~ There are some boring PVs, but I just don't watch them. I still like the PV, but if it has a bad PV, the PV doesn't really affect my opinion of the song

But if I don't like a song at first and I watch the PV and love the PV, then I usually end up liking the song~

happiholic★ 6th October 2010 05:35 AM

Not really. At one or two times the PV has made me like the song more, but it's not a consistent thing.

anayufan 7th October 2010 02:16 PM

there are definitely cases this has happened with me for other artists but with ayu it's hard cuz i mostly like her music to begin with. so maybe on a less extreme level, i can like an ayu song MORE because of the pv... but hardly is there ever an ayu song i liked solely after seeing the pv.

but how about another side to the discussion? especially with her newer ones, sometimes an ayu song makes the PV better or worse! for example Don't look back's PVis really boring and since i heard the song first i was expecting something better/different. in that sense, the song ruined the PV... it was too good for that boring video xD. and for the case of a song helping a PV, well i think Daybreak is a good example! the remix is one of my favorite ayu songs and watching mummy ayu make the sky brighter, darker, brighter, darker over and over again in the video would've been so boring if i wasn't listening to that remix at the same time!

asmAyumi1992 7th October 2010 02:44 PM

Sometimes. When the first time I listen to VR, I dont think it would be my favorite. but when I watched the pv, the song grew in me rapidly :yes

SunshineSlayer 7th October 2010 11:25 PM

A bad PV won't make me dislike the song, however a great PV usually makes me like the song even more.

joshohhhhh 8th October 2010 10:05 AM

i usually try to listen to the song a bit before i watch the video. i like to have my own clear vision of how the song makes me feel before i'm influenced by the video.

TITANIC 8th October 2010 02:32 PM

depends on the situation.
i.e Virgin Road PV really kills the song. I love the song but the PV ruined it all
I used to dislike Ladies night but the PV is good. I like Ayu there so I love the song now
