Do you get excited randomly hearing Ayu out and about?

I heard Dearest playing from a store yesterday randomly and it was my first experience hearing Ayu like that, I stopped and listened for about 20 seconds before moving on as I was getting the "wtf is that foreigner doing?" look from inside.

JackieRos 11th March 2012 03:48 PM

I haven't heard her out on the streets >.<

But I remember hearing dearest on tv and was like OMG!
And my dad was like you crazy or something.

I can remember there was once a news issue about the life in Tokyo. They played Trauma as music tune. I was like: O MY GOSH MAMA, THAT'S AYU!!!

Mum was like: Not again Ayuwashi Hamayoushi.

lol!

I've never heard Ayu anywhere around town. :\ I'm sure I'd be super duper excited and have a fan girl freak out moment if I did. I've heard INFINITE about 5000 times now and I still get excited every time it happens. :)

Once when I went to a japanese restaurant and they played SEASONS.
I was super happy, especially because japanese restaurants here often play random asian music instead of japanese singers.

If I ever heard Ayu's music playing in my area (outside of my own iPod), I would get a big stupid grin on my face and cherish the moment.

I had never listened to her music in my country...but in a chinese store there was a fake nails section and ayu was the image xD
She also appeared on TV a few times, but only her image at shibuya promoting NEXT LEVEL/RnRC

Never saw or heard Ayu in my country (or any other except Japan) but once I saw Otsuka Ai's 'Love' keychain pendant (in a store that makes their own stuff) and I was about to shout at the salesmen if they even know what these are and how they are protected by copyright but I magaged to stop myself. I bought them and then wrote to the produced if they knew, of course they didn't, they just took a random photo from net and turned it into keychain T___T

Yeah, its so rare to hear any Jpop song like Ayu here.
There's one time I heard playing "independent" on a Japanese furniture store

visionfactory 11th March 2012 08:16 PM

I got excited even when I see the cameras that Ayu endorse :D

Never heard anything in England, but going to Japan it was a shock when places were playing her stuff. In my mind I'm the only person who knows her music, but of course everybody over there does. Kinda hard to explain, but it's pretty strange.

I never heard her when I was out and about, but at the end of that sad excuse of a movie Dragon Ball, I got so excited hearing Rule.

stepYOU1234 12th March 2012 12:47 AM

I once heard one of her songs while I was in a changing room and nearly freaked out. Until I realised that my iPod had turned on in my bag and was playing it, not the shop :dead2 :thud Sad times :(

^ lol

A chinese shop is playing Korean music and Japanese music all the time and when hearing Ayu I'm still happy and tend to sing along lol

Pieces_of_SEVEN 13th March 2012 01:23 AM

Definitely! Although it has seldom happened to me...maybe once or twice, but of course I got sooo excited lol

Northerner 14th March 2012 07:38 AM

I once heard "blossom" in a Japanese restaurant. It was really quiet, so it took me a while to pick up on it. Eventually, I figured out what I was hearing and blurted out "Hey, it's Ayumi Hamasaki!" even though nobody I was with knew who she was.

sesshy 14th March 2012 07:45 AM

Asian music doesn't exist here...

jewelbox 14th March 2012 09:56 PM

I heard GAME in a store where they sold this totoro stuff. Once they had (don't) leave me alone PV running on the screen behind the counter.

yoshino 15th March 2012 04:30 PM

I love it when I hear Ayu songs playing in the restaurant or in shopping mall shops. I sometimes get excited about it. Usually I stay there until the whole song is played. =)

Jennie Mae 15th March 2012 05:48 PM

There's a record shop in San Francisco Japantown that has old Ayu posters in the window, and sometimes they play Arena Tour 03-04 on their TV.
The only other time I've heard Ayu out and about was when Dragonball came out, and I worked in a movie theater, so I got to hear "Rule" three or four times a day when I was cleaning theaters. Seeing Ayu's name in the credits was just as cool.
