Ayumi Lyrics That Mean Something To You
 

One of the biggest reasons behind my undying love and devotion to Ayu is her lyrics. Her ability to put into words barely tangible feelings and somehow make sense of things I could never hope to express on my own is what got me hooked from the beginning. To this day, when I find myself conflicted or confused emotionally, I put on songs that fit the mood and then go look up the lyrics. Almost every time I find what I am looking for in the first song. So I wanted to share with you guys some of the ones that really hit home for me and I'd love to hear yours and the reasons behind them too.

Someone I once loved said those words to me, or some very similar, and then proceeded to move far away. For reasons that are not all his fault, we chose to stop talking because it was too painful and we both found ourselves lashing out at each other. As time passed, any hopes of reconciliation or contact grew fainter and fainter. Or as the song states, that sea grew wider. Shortly before we ceased communication, we both laid outside under the stars and realized that although we were far, we could see practically the same sky. Looking at the same constellations, with his voice in my ear, he didn't seem all that far away. Now, whenever I get overwhelmed by the bad memories, I try to think of that, as it seems Ayu did as well.

I love this lyric for multiple reasons. One, it is such an unadulratedly honest observation. Very candid. And two, it reminds me of another reason I relate to Ayumi so well.. she reminds me a lot of myself. Not just in those words, but in the fact that she is willing to acknowledge those things and bare the truth, no matter how ugly. Those are things no one wants to admit to themself, but they are hard truths we must acknowledge if ever we are to grow. Sometimes I am pathetic, but it's nice to know sometimes she is too.

And funny enough, that line is exactly how I am feeling at this time... it is that time of year. :x

Funny enough, the majority of these all tie in to the same experience and memories, but this song just brings me to tears, the whole damn thing. Especially the bolded part.
