Title Tracks

This woman has the best title tracks from her albums. They are usually the songs I fall in love with.

A Song For XX (the classic.)
Duty (ITS ALL ABOUT THE DOME TOUR)
I Am... (one of her best album openers)
guilty (the wild west guitars!!!!)
Secret (gorg)
LOVE SONG!!! (that wail!!!!)
(miss)understood (outstanding LIVE!!!)
NEXT LEVEL (just gorgeous melodies)
party kweeeen (kampai :3)

I just think that her title tracks always knock it out of the ballpark for me, and they become pretty classic ayu tracks for me.

DISCUSS!

I can't stand Party queen and Secret; sorry.

But I love GUILTY and (miss)understood. I feel that those songs are really underrated.

TeamAyu2004 25th January 2013 04:15 PM

i might be the only one but it always bothers me when people say Love song is the title track for Love songs... its not really... the 's' makes it different..
but that might just me being OCD..
the same goes with LOVEppears and people saying appears is the title track... i dont think...

BUT... of all the title tracks I usually like them... it took me some time to like Secret and Guilty because those albums were the start of her decline for me, but now I like them.

shinji1698 25th January 2013 04:35 PM

in retrospect i'd say appears is the title track for her second album...

and as for another 's', I mean come on really....

TeamAyu2004 25th January 2013 04:39 PM

but if you look at it in every day grammar the 's' means a lot...
just compare it.
day does not equal days
human does not equal humans
horse does not equal horses
they are all separate and means something completely different from the original word (meaning more then 1, lol)

like I said, call me OCD, but it does not make it a title track.
the same for appears as well... the album title is LOVEppears... not appears... its even a play on words and isn;t even appears, lol..

Delicious n Bold 25th January 2013 04:41 PM

Ugh can we not bring morphology into this?
I think love song is the title track because it sets the entire mood of the album and connects every song with its lyrics.

TeamAyu2004 25th January 2013 05:00 PM

^ lol, she designed the album that way! its a great way of brainwashing...

besides.. the title of the album is Love Songs... the 's' makes it about the entire album, there really shouldnt be a title track for something like this. Love Song isn't really about being in love, but more about love, not the act of being in love, if that makes sense.

mellody 25th January 2013 06:18 PM

And she also has A BALLADS which not connected to BALLAD at all.
Sorry to mention compilation album though. j/k

I love Memorial address the most. Is anyone with me?

shinji1698 25th January 2013 07:06 PM

Besides all this petty Ayu policing (annoying), yes memorial address is quite wonderful. :)

The fandom usually considers appears and LOVE ~ refrain the 2 title tracks for LOVEppears, to the point of them being even capitalized the same way.

And I agree her title tracks tend to be very strong:

A Song for ×× - This song can be painfully relatable sometimes.

LOVEppears - appears is among my all time favorite Ayu tracks... I tend to forget how Love ~refrain~goes like and I'm relistening to it right now while reading the lyrics... It actually does make a strange pairing with appears... both on lyrics and arrangments.

Duty - This track is no emotional, there's so much dispair on it... Also among her best.

I am... - Another emotional track filled with dispair, it's not among my favorite but I can't really deny how powerful it is. Like the lyrics, you can hear Ayu begging you to hear her deeper than the surfice.

Memorial Address - Masterpiece, next.

(miss)understood - I agree this one is underated... The tour version is just plain amazing. One of her best lyrics about not letting the idol in her control her life.

Secret - I love how "enkaish" it sounds, and it's IMO an amazing way to end an album filled with so much self-enpowerement songs. In the end, she is as lost as she ever was.

GUILTY - Probably her most desperate title track, this one has no hope on it at all... I wish she sings it live one day (but I do see why she didn't during AT08)

NEXT LEVEL - Her first optimistic official title track... I love how warm it sounds in contrast to the past ones. Is this a song about the support her fanbase gives to her? It's pretty anyway.

Love song - One of my top five Ayu tracks, I love how it sounds like Ayu inviting us to actually take our wishes and loved stuff and fight for it.

Party queen - Ayu's anthem to escapism... The lyrics has some parts that are surprisingly revelaing of the (much darker) rest of the album. The way the arrangment sounding empty also adds a lot to this.

Does someone else likes to set "main-songs" to her albums without title tracks?

I tend to see RAINBOW as the song that best defynes the album, even if it's not there.

For some reason I like do consider happy ending MY STORY's main track, maybe because the song's title repeats the album title's idea (and because it was the opening track for AT05). Also, I believe it perfect sums the album mood and themes.

Rock 'n' Roll Circus has both Microphone and Sexy little things, that not only provide the albums with the rock'n'roll and the circus but are also shown as liked on their PVs.

FIVE has Progress, that perfectly grabs the hope feeling she said she wanted to convey after the disaster IMO...

I can't stand Party Queen. Worst song ever, imo.

Finally someone agrees with me!

um, Duty is pure genius and amazing-ness. period.

I am... is super powerful. love the a cappella beginning, however, the verses just draaaaaaaaag....

oohhhhhhh RAINBOW is super good. she hasn't done another song like it and i'm kind of sad. it's so unique. it has an almost spiritual element to it :( even though it wasn't technically on the album, i'm counting it.

amen.

i honestly could take or leave (miss)understood. kind of boring to me. :/

i'm a sucker for ayu ballads so Secret is love.

when i first heard GUILTY, i thought it was sooooo slow for its beat and that it was a let-down. BUT of course years and more listens later, so great! i love how it wakes my imagination and takes me to a very dark place.

NEXT LEVEL - meh...

and that's all i really care to comment on ;)

Jawdarna 26th January 2013 12:11 PM

Duty is my favourite.

It's just epic.

Honourable mentions to RAINBOW, I am... and Memorial Address though! :D

xLuna&1LOVE 26th January 2013 12:37 PM

Not all the title tracks are really outstanding, but some of them are really strong, especially the older ones: A Song for Xx, appears, Duty, I am..., Memorial Address.
I do like the other songs too, but they are not favourites.
