Spanish press praises Ayu and "progress"

Reading spanish reviews of Tales of Xillia, I was surprised to find that most of them praise Ayu's song as one of the best things in the game and describing it as "epic" or "apotheosic"

Alot of what I read in the reviews basically stated that the opening song is one of the pros for the game because of Progress, the highlight in an otherwise unmemorable soundtrack.

Can't read spanish, but nice to know!~

Reserved my copy at the shop! Collecting when my One piece 2 comes at the end of this mth!
Will progress be featured in this english version too?

Nice to hear that some gamers either fan of ToX or not praise Ayu for her contribution. If this keep going on, Ayu will be known for producing an epic soundtrack for a game. She might even get a contract for another A list game such as FF or RE in the future. Finger cross.

wow good to know that she's well praised by tales of xillia spanish fans =))

I don't think that Ayu is eligibile artist for Final Fantasy titles
Don't get me wrong i would die of happiness if that tie-in happens.
I remeber an old interview with the music composer for Chrono Cross Yasunori Mitsuda and the issue of finding someone suitable for singing the game's theme song and he said something like that the producers wanted someone popular and if you think a little that was the time when Ayumi was nearing her peak popularity but he was against that idea.
Of course he never revealed the actual name of the popular artist but later said that Noriko Mitose suits the melody and lyrics for the song
If you ask me Ayu would be perfect for that song

That's great news! (Esp as I'm unsure of some of the vocals in parts, even though I love the song)

progress is one of ayu's best songs in years, and is perfect for this game

I remember being amazed at how perfectly progress fit with the feel of the Tales series (and similarly with Song 4 u). I'm glad they didn't just throw in a random J-pop song but actually took the time to craft a song that fit with the sound of the series and its epicness.

So yeah, I'm glad to see that effort being recognized :)

time to give progress a listen now :)

I've translated the first one (sorry if there are some mistakes!)

Quote:

- The rest of the songs are ok, but 'progress' is, by far, the best song because of the strenght it gives to the game.
- Although it's under a strong J-pop component, but definitely far from the more candid tone and childish than other theme songs of the series, its instrumentation with more presence of the electric guitar, bass and drums combined with a real string and wind orchestra, plus the beautiful piano that opens its full version, the idol (idol?) ayumi hamasaki brings a theme with strenght, with feeling and also with an intensity that I wish we would see more often, and that becomes the first reflection of the more realistic and the less super deformed side of his characters, like the interior conflict of Milla or the future of Jude. A prodigy that becomes the best of their sound aspect.

Translated part from one about ayu and progress

Spoiler:
Progress

Except in an issue that becomes by far in the best: the Opening Progress and strength that gives the start of the game. Under a strong component Japan-Pop, but definitely far more candid tone, more children from others of the series thanks to instrumentation with more weight on electric guitar, bass and drums combined with real orchestral string and wind, and the beautiful piano that opens in its full version, the idol Ayumi Hamasaki forcefully brings a theme, hard, with feeling but also an intensity that I wish we saw more often, and becomes the first reflection of the more realistic and less super- deformed of his characters, and others like the inner conflict of Milla or Jude future. A prodigy who becomes the best of their sound aspect.

What what. I never noticed the huge difference between the song on FIVE and the actual opening. She's so high-pitched and baby-voiced on the game version.

Edit: or is the sound twisted? Here's the clip
