Ayu ranks #2 on "Most liked Japanese Celebrity" chosen by foreign tourists

Not sure if this was posted, but Ayu was picked as the second most liked Japanese celebrity by foreign tourists.

The Japanese TV show Onegai Ranking apparently questioned several foreign tourists who their top Japanese celebrities were?

The top 3 are:

#1 - Miyazaki Hayao (9 votes)
#2 - Hamasaki Ayumi (3 votes)
#2 - Kitano Takeshi (2 votes)

1位:宮崎駿(9票)
2位:浜崎あゆみ(3票)
3位:北野武(2票)

It doesn't say how many people were asked (although I'm assuming 14...?), but I just wanted to share.

Assuming it's 14 people, roughly:
64% picked Miyazaki
21% picked Ayu
14% picked Kitano

I have no idea who the other two are.

well the first one is the studio ghibli guy, and the other one...who knows. I think he does films too though, like violent films.

but hey, they managed to find the three people in Japan that like ayu! This is good.

Miyazaki is behind the more famous Ghibli movies. Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service, Totoro, etc.

Kitano Takeshi is one of Japan's most famous movie directors. He tends to make many Yakuza themed films.

This is the same show that has segments ranking the top three highlighters and best buys for 100 yen. I just figured I'd share it.

Queen of Japan tbh

No doubt Miyazaki tops, I like his animes very much:X:X. Kitano Takeshi is a very famous director with yakuza films, which are pretty favored by foreigners. And he's also the director of film "Dolls", which inspired Ayu to write Dolls in RAINBOW. He was a guest in AyuReady 1st ep:D.

3 people?

Ayu should really focus on making the public like her again... at the very least find her bearable.

This is great :D

But I'm not so sure about the "several foreign tourists" they stated, because 3 votes and she's already #2? :laugh

koumori 25th October 2013 01:39 PM

Not sure this is anything to celebrate if they only asked fourteen people...:laugh But I guess it's...nice that she was mentioned.

YuriChan 25th October 2013 01:42 PM

I think most people know Takeshi Kitano for "Battle Royal". o_o; But it's great that she was mentioned. :D

jiarongisme 25th October 2013 01:45 PM

I'm not sure how reliable this survey is with gauging the general interests because of the small sample size lol. But yay, 3 people likes Ayu!.... ? :laugh

AyUmIXx 25th October 2013 03:14 PM

yay for the Queen of Jpop!

NintendoHTF1242 25th October 2013 03:41 PM

Oh my god I'm dumb. I've only read Hayao Miyazaki as that way, not Miyazaki Hayao LOL! So depressing too because Spirited Away is one of my all time favorite movies.

Don't know who they asked, but Takeshi's castle was a really popular show that was dubbed in a few languages in the late 80s. In the arabic world, it was called "the fort".
