'Pray' mixed by David Reitzas

We recently got a glimpse of Ayu in the studio with David Reitzas in the latest ViVi Deji Deji Diary and since we know Jaycen Joshua mixed Feel the love/Merry-go-round, I figured that there was a possibility that he mixed Pray... and after asking, it seems I was right! He could not comment any further though, obviously.

I feel that this ups the chances that this song is going to be a ballad, haha.

David Reitzas is also credited as mixing the following songs:
SEVEN DAYS WAR
Virgin Road
do it again
November
progress
beloved
how beautiful you are

I am excited, since his mixes are extremely well done!

same here...his mixing is not really clear and High quality for me. I really hate the mixing of Virgin Road...
also progress and how beautiful you are, i think her voice is too crisp on both songs...

I have no idea what mixers do. Or even producers, for that matter. You may as well tell me that Big Bird mixed the song and Yoda produced it, because it means absolutely nothing to me. :shrug

I've got no idea what a mixer does as well, but given the list of songs: yay!

Coelacanth 26th November 2013 06:22 PM

I love his mixing so much.

From wikipedia:

Quote:

"A mix engineer or mixing engineer is a person responsible for combining ("mixing") the different sonic elements of a piece of recorded music (vocals, instruments, effects etc.) into a final version of a song (also known as "final mix" or "mixdown"). He or she mixes the elements of a recorded piece together to achieve a good balance of volume, while at the same time deciding other properties such as pan positioning, effects, and so on."

Quote:

"A record producer is an individual working within the music industry, whose job is to oversee and manage the recording (i.e. "production") of an artist's music. A producer has many roles that may include, but are not limited to, gathering ideas for the project, selecting songs and/or musicians, coaching the artist and musicians in the studio, controlling the recording sessions, and supervising the entire process through mixing and mastering. Producers also often take on a wider entrepreneurial role, with responsibility for the budget, schedules, and negotiations.

Today, the recording industry has two kinds of producers: executive producer and music producer; they have different roles. While an executive producer oversees a project's finances, a music producer oversees the creation of the music.

A music producer can, in some cases, be compared to a film director, with noted practitioner Phil Ek himself describing his role as "the person who creatively guides or directs the process of making a record, like a director would a movie. The engineer would be more the cameraman of the movie."[1] The music producer's job is to create, shape, and mold a piece of music. The scope of responsibility may be one or two songs or an artist's entire album – in which case the producer will typically develop an overall vision for the album and how the various songs may interrelate."

I really have high expectations for this.

Kazeyomi 26th November 2013 07:23 PM

He mixed November and do it again?

Yay, can't wait :luv2

LEOyumi 26th November 2013 07:28 PM

Wow, he only did GREAT songs with Ayu! I'm really excited!

Andrenekoi 26th November 2013 07:51 PM

I would say most people shouldn't be all that excited because of him, considering we as mostly music fans without that much knowlegment on the technical aspects of music can't really notice the difference between a good mixed and a poorly mixed tracks xD

^
It's what I think too lol

My thoughts exactly... xD

truehappiness 26th November 2013 09:24 PM

Usually, people are able to pick up on a badly mixed track. (the BGM is too loud and overpowers the singer, or certain instruments don't really get focus when they should)

He's very well known in the business it seems, having worked with like every diva ever, haha.
