Hotel Love Songs 2012 and A best Live 2013
 

I think many of us prefer ABL to HLS very much because of the great set-list and her beautiful outfits. I wonder why HLS was better than ABL in YesAsia 2013 charts and some others ! How's about your opinion ?

I prefer HLS.

I also prefer Hotel Love Songs better. Actually, A Best Live is one of my least favourite tours....didn't like the setlist, it was nothing new at all. Not that is a bad tour but it simply didn't bring anything new. I'm really glad for the sales, HLS really deserves it!!

I prefer much more HLS!
There was nothing wrong with ABL, it was very nice and all, but for me the three previous tours has been OUTSTANDINGLY great. R'n'R' Circus Tour, POWER of MUSIC and HOTEL Love Song are some of her finest concerts.
And if I remember correctly, Ayu herself said she felt HLS was her best delivered tour to date.

I completely agree :yes.. I also love Arena Tour 2009 ...... it was my first ayu concert!

I agree! I think Ayu has had some really great tours these last few years, ABL being the one exception. It's not bad per se, but it's not great either, it's just OK (thought the ayupans are quite amazing, at least).
To get to the question itself, I think it's simply because HTL was released ~7 months before ABL, so it had much more time to sell.

I think HLS is one of her worst concerts ever. :s

ABL is ayu 100% All her classic songs of these 15 years of music. I have to admit that I missed something new, but overall it's one of her best concerts.

BUT, nothing can beat RnRc tour AND Premium Countdown live. Those are, imo, her best concerts ever. XD

I never liked HLS either. I don't like watching broadway shows starring her dancers, I like watching Ayumi Hamasaki concerts. POM was amazing, A BEST LIVE really lived up to its name for the most part, but HLS felt like a vehicle for her dancers to take center stage. I'm never thrilled with it when she does that - it drives me nuts. I prefer her dancers being BACKGROUND dancers. A kinetic part of the stage decoration until the MC section when we meet them all. Clearly I'm somewhat unique in this opinion, however. :(

Yes I think it's a matter of taste ! Personnally I prefer her performances when she is alone with 2 chorus and her band and it happens only during powerfull rock songs lol (About You, Count Down, Memorial Address, Heartplace, Is This Love ? ...).

HLS like you said looks like a Brodway show and Ayu really likes these type of shows it's her main influence with " LE CIRQUE DU SOLEIL".
This one is not my favorite of her but I admit that the stage and the concept are interesting, different and darkish.

I agree with both of you ! Next Level, RnR C, POM, HLS and ABL is very good. I just want to know which concert is more successful : HLS or ABL . I'd love to know the reason !

^HLS had better dvd sales and more dates, so, it was the more succesful of the 2. The reason is unknown, through.

ABL felt like a CDL tour to me, so, the more basic theatrics coming from an artist known for doing huge productions may have something to do with it...

Also, she was still dealing with the Maro relationship backlash during the tour.

I much prefer ABL to HLS.

I like Hotel love sogs better. The theme and everything was presented in a very well manner. Esp after the disappointment from hls cdl, the arena tour really surprised me. A BEST live was great but it's just a bunch of songs selected by fans and mashed up. Don't really liked the costume too.

:thud...Countdown Live 2011-2012 is one of her best cdls in my opinion..her voice was really good and I really loved the tracklist..not the same can I say about CDL 12-13 and ABL.........

The disappointment came from the anticipation when ayu said that the full HLS would be performed at CDL. But the concept was still unclear during the cdl. Everything seems messed up. But all these was clear up during the arena tour. It makes HLS complete with the introduction video at the beginning of each set of performance.

ayu's tours since 2009 were pretty much great, especially from 2010 onward ayu really got some levels up since then in a lot of aspects. I think I liked HLS better because I usually like new album tours more than BEST lives but a best live is good from time to time and this year it was pretty cool, I liked it too.

they're both horrible, though I think ABL is a lot better.

HLS probably sold better cos it was released earlier and maybe people wanted to buy it so they can watch with their friends & laugh at how horrible the concert was

"Horrible" ? I don't think so.
both of them is better than many other artists' concert.
