"Hello new me" chitchat

I had thought "Hello new me" would sound completely different when I first listened to the 30 seconds refrain preview. I still like it, nonetheless. The high-pitch in Ayu's voice sounds pretty artificial but I actually do appreciate that.

What do you think? .__.

freedreamer 14th May 2014 04:06 PM

it's a nice song when you just wanna chill and take a new stroll I feel. Not something I would loop but well, we can't always have heavy sounding music from Ayu. It reminded of Life..that sorta mood

edit: listening to it on my other com now and it feels a lot better :D just to add, i really love the softness of the verses

kendelle 14th May 2014 04:08 PM

I think the preview is really different too. Ayu's in her stride in the verses here. The high pitch is done OK as well....after all what is an Ayu song without "dat squeak", right? :P

This song has a drama tie in right? I think if this is anything like how she'll sound in the bulk of the album songs we might be onto a winner. She sounds so good in the verses that I think the general public will like this song a lot :)

holy_arrow 14th May 2014 04:31 PM

HNM is the cute song and I love it ... But this song is quite boring with the repeated every things... Nothing special ... her voice in the chorus is ... (>.<)
However the song gave me the feeling that I was walking in the beach (just like the preview in the opening of drama), this feeling is as same as PV "baby don't cry' of Namie Amuro ...
Love this song, It got 7.8/10 in my opinion...

ayu-michan 14th May 2014 04:41 PM

I would rate it as 7.5-8/10 :) I'll probably only listen to it when I'm just chillin'. I was quite scared to see how the high part will turn out, but I think they did a nice job on it.

waterballoon 14th May 2014 04:47 PM

the verses are well-done, the chorus is a little squeaky but overall the song is nice and relaxing. that's its strength and flaw.

if this were 2004 this song would be that album track everyone doesn't like or a B-Side. but a decade later it's A-Side material.. oh well.

perfect for Spring though.. brings a smile to my face!

I'm the exact opposite. I can't repeat heavy songs like GAME and Pray without wanting to stab my ears out. Sometimes I can't even listen to them period, even if I do think they're amazing.

Nice, calm, easy songs like Hello new me & NEXT LEVEL, however, I can put on repeat all day. :)

I kinda doubt that. She released popular songs like Greatful days around that time, didn't she? I think Hello new me is more A-side material than Sweet scar, snowy kiss and all that jazz. Although IS Hello new me an A-side? It's just a digital single...

tsumekaze_ 14th May 2014 05:48 PM

I love it. the verses are so soothing. perfect for spring...

terra 14th May 2014 06:31 PM

Don't really like this song. The verse stuck in my head but it's more of an annoying thing. I don't like her squeak and the cutesy. The lyric is sweet but she can deliver it in a more proper way like HONEY. Nonetheless the arrangement are neat and the mastering are well done for my ear, the instrumentation are nice, as expected from Kunio Tago.

Hello new me gives me a hopeful, uplifting feeling. I like experiencing a more confident Ayu in the lyrics. I hope she continues with this confidence.

It's a pretty, little cupcake of sunshine.
It's well done, I find her voice soothing and cheerful, it's VERY moving imo and it sets this amazing calm, hypnotizing atmosphere.
It makes me happy and I love it. This song is my baby.
PS: Also, those little hints of guitars I hear here and there please me very much, thank you.

a good song for cooling down after work out lol
Sitting on a bench, fresh cool morning air in the park, warm sunlight to your skin, sipping some whey protein drink. Yeah, I think I will do that.

Delirium-Zer0 15th May 2014 02:25 AM

It's pretty and inoffensive. Won't skip it when it comes on, won't go out of my way to listen to it. It's okie-dokie. lol

I wonder if these chat topics are necessary when discussion has already begun in other threads.

Anyways, she's pretty bad at the pre-chorus things lately. Melody from LOVE again had the same problem; was nice enough at first but there's this awkward pre-chorus where the verse kind of takes a different direction and drags out before the chorus comes in. It makes me feel confused and bored when she does that. Hope this trend doesn't continue.

it's lovely and sweet :)

I suspected it to be easier and more convenient for users if they can find a discussion on that song in a separate thread rather than single comments that are being posted in several places :)

Oh, and I felt the same way regarding the, as you called it, "awkward pre-chorus" and the different direction before the actual refrain.

I like the song. It's really nice, reminds me of NEXT LEVEL and REPLACE a bit and also Pray. It's like a combination of those three songs....it gives me MY STORY & NEXT LEVEL vibes. The chorus is kinda sweety but not that annoying as HONEY's.

marty 15th May 2014 10:40 PM

^
Yeah, nothing beats the cheesiness of HONEY's chorus.
Hello new me reminds me of ANGEL'S SONG too. Not for the melody or anything like that, just for the feelings they give me.

love in music 15th May 2014 10:55 PM

I listened to it once and really don't want to listen to it again because of the chorus. Hurts my ears.

^My opinion too, word for word. The cutsy-thing was petter when she could actually pull it off, now it just seems waaay too forced. Live she sounds better - most of the time.

This song is so boring to me, the lyrics were nice though. But if her album is gonna have this same kind of tune... then nope, not for me :shakehead
