Girls Generation's Jessica has left the group

I guess this calls for a new thread despite being under the limit.

The "8 others" at the airport literally right now, Hyoyeon left the car crying...

oh boy! do you believe the situation?

Jokes aside, I am really surprised by this. I don't know anything about the girls personally (except my irrational dislike of Tiffany) but to actually turn on a lone member makes me sick.

emi♡ 30th September 2014 03:12 AM

Whatever. She's the best one anyway.

visionfactory 30th September 2014 03:17 AM

It's not official yet, it's just a rumour

ExodusUK 30th September 2014 03:48 AM

Jessica's lawyer confirmed to Naver that her Weibo has not been hacked :\

Bigtop 30th September 2014 03:55 AM

:(

So what's going on recently??? This isn't good news...

murasakinohana 30th September 2014 04:09 AM

Woah.. What's happening with SNSD?? Did Jessica and the rest of the girls get into a huge fight or something?? Could this be because of all the latest rumors that Jessica is getting married? Well, I guess we can all agree that everything is just at the ''rumor stage'' right now, until everything has been confirmed by SM.

The rest of the girls look so sullen in the photos. Something must be up..

bluegie 30th September 2014 04:12 AM

OMFG...

Sica is being forced out??? This is even worse than what I imagine. I always think SNSD will have members leaving the group one day, and when this happens, SNSD will not be SNSD anymore. I always think SNSD = 9 members together. I would feel sad if one or more leave... but I just can't accept one being kicked out... so devastating..

Solarblade 30th September 2014 05:20 AM

Was this REALLY necessary to make its own thread....the other is only 350 pages when the limit is 500....>.> I think we need someone to merge it with that thread.

adantatu2 30th September 2014 05:58 AM

You should post the article in the Asian Music Chat or in the SNSD thread.
Anyway, I can't believe this, I just don't want to belive this.

SNSD is one of the legends of K-Pop, they passed years without changing members, and now this is happening (In my mind, the first one leaving the group was Taeyeon, :p)

I'm so sad, I knew SNSD since 2010. They are one of my favourite groups.
SM needs to fix this, SONES are a really huge fan-base, I trust them, I know they can do something.

Jessica wants to be in the group. I hope something good, please.

Didn't merge cause this is really big news, so I just move this to the Asian music chat

SM's statement

Quote:

Hello. This is SM Entertainment.

We are offering our position on the words on Jessica's Weibo posted today.

This coming spring, due to her personal situation, she has notified us she will halt her team promotions with the release of one [more] album.

Despite Jessica's sudden notice, the agency and the Girls' Generation members tried our best and tried to figure out a way that Girls' Generation's activities can continue in the best possible direction.

However, in the midst of insufficient negotiations regarding conflicts of differences in priorities and interest, Jessica started her fashion business. Due to this, despite ongoing talks, it has come to a point where the team could not be maintained.

Thus, the agency had no choice but to pull up Girls' Generation's activities as 8 members earlier than planned, and in the midst of while working out when to announce this, Jessica had posted her words early this morning.

From here on, our agency will continue to support and manage the 8-member Girls' Generation and Jessica's individual activities."

Definitely sounds like there's WAY more to this story that's being told

Dream 30th September 2014 08:27 AM

"has left" is an euphemism, she was kicked out of it.

pimenta 30th September 2014 08:42 AM

By Jessica's words it's quite clear to me that she did not want to live now, in the middle of the group's promotions (fanmeeting, SMTOWN in Tokyo this week, Tokyo Dome concert, etc). Even though they say she already wanted to leave, it seems clear to me they kicked her out much before she ever planned (sounds like she was planning on leaving on good terms, even after a future album release, but they decided to send her out now out of the blue).

I don't know what to think... I wanna hear from the other members, because there are rummors that there were miss understandings between the other members and Jessica's individual activities, so I wanna hear their side...

terra 30th September 2014 08:57 AM

^ I agree, I wanna hear from the other members too :( and I do believe SM kicks her maybe out of fear on the previous lawsuit they had with their artists :S

Girls’ Generation, one of K-pop’s biggest girl groups and a leading driver of the genre’s profile overseas, is no longer a nine-member act.

The group’s agency, SM Entertainment Co., on Tuesday told local media that Jessica, one of the group’s lead vocalists, had been let go from the group due to disagreements over her business activities in fashion.

The agency said that the singer privately announced earlier this year her retirement from the group and later founded her fashion business, Blanc Group, without securing agreement from the agency. The singer, whose last name is Jung, and the remaining members continue to be signed with the agency, it added.

On Tuesday morning on Weibo, the China-based Twitter-like service, Ms. Jung wrote that she had been informed of her exit from the group from the agency and the other eight members. She said she was “devastated” and added that she was pushed out “for no justifiable reason.”

SM Entertainment has a history of public disputes with their artists. Kris, a member of boy band EXO, in May filed a lawsuit against the agency to nullify his contract. In 2009 three of the five members of boy band TVXQ quit the group and sued the company for what they said was unfair terms of their contract. The three singers and the agency in 2012 dropped all legal filings following a court injunction.

The SM Entertainment spokeswoman didn’t answer calls on Tuesday. A spokeswoman for Ms. Jung’s company Blanc declined to comment and didn’t make Ms. Jung available for comment.

Early Tuesday the remaining eight members—Taeyeon, Tiffany, Sooyoung, Sunny, Yoona, Yuri, Seohyun and Hyoyeon—left for Shenzen, China for a fan event, local media reported. Ms. Jung didn’t appear at the airport terminal.

Formed in 2007, Girls’ Generation has become one of K-pop’s best-recognized acts, starting with their hit single “Gee” in 2009. The group gained popularity in other Asian countries but their attempt to crack the U.S. market in 2011 didn’t yield a similar commercial success.
