Ayu's Sales Adjusted for Global Market Changes
 

Hey all, so I got a little curious - I wanted to see how Ayumi's sales would stack up if "normalized" against global market trends. I wanted to specifically use Japan's numbers but was unable to find them. I used the global total physical sales by year to create this. For example, if in 2000, 5000 albums were sold, but in 2001, 2500 were sold, then 1 album sold in 2001 counts as the equivalent of 2 albums in 2001. If you have any questions, please let me know!

What did you use as your "base" year to start with?

Globally historic highest sales year = 1 (base). The world saw more CD sales in 2000 than any other year, so we are normalizing sales for the year 2000. I can normalize them for 2015, too. It's pretty arbitrary, but the ratios will stay the same regardless.

Plain text, adjusted for 2015 numbers. The equivalent to 4,294,000 in 2001 is just 757,000 in 2015.
