I wonder what songs most popular. Seasons and Dearest?
|
Probably those and the usual ballads/summery songs.
|
Also wonder what song from the most latest release people choose
Maybe TODAY? Or at least Step by step |
I could see a lot of Ayu fans doing Last minute, but it's possible maybe Many Classic Moments and Movin' on without you's covers were big as well? Summer diary also strikes me as a karaoke friendly song.
|
I think people requested a lot of different Ayu songs instead of requesting certain popular songs many times, because none of Ayu songs made it to the Top 50 songs ranking for the year.

Excited to see EXILE and Ayu.
There's a ranking by other karaoke company - Joysound. https://www.joysound.com/web/search/artist/6705/ranking Top 20: 1 BLUE BIRD 2 SEASONS 3 M 4 Voyage 5 Dearest 6 evolution 7 A Song for XX 8 Moments 9 Days〈Original mix〉 10 appears 11 Who... 12 HEAVEN 13 LOVE ~Destiny~ 14 JEWEL 15 No way to say 16 Boys & Girls 17 progress 18 TO BE 19 SURREAL 20 MY ALL Last minute (Original mix) is number 33. FLOWER is number 74. WARNING is number 80. Movin' on without you is number 83. Summer diary is number 84. So, overall very few songs from recent years. |
I'm surprised with FLOWER and WARNING
they are quite angry |
This is so cool. I'm glad to see Ayu here.:yes
I'm a little surprised at some of the names that are not on here. |
Very good for someone nobody cares about...

Congratulations to Ayu (and Hibari Misora)!!!

That's good for her! I can't really imagine myself singing Ayu though, sometimes I feel they're very... particular :think I feel like they were "meant" for her voice. That's why I wouldn't be surprised if they never released one of those tribute albums with other artists covering her songs. What do you guys think? :)

^yeah, BLUE BIRD was ayu's last real hit
it is crazy how much people talk about her not mattering anymore and that she's just a flop, but then you see her concerts, a-nation, online album charts, and now this, and it's like she may not be at the front of the line anymore but the woman is still a Japanese music legend |
^of course she has her legacy, but people singing her OLD songs at karaoke because of nostalgia does not mean they care about her. Everytime I sing an Ayu song at karaoke, my japanese friends are like "natsukashiiiii~~~~~" (how nostalgic) and then also want to sing an old Ayu song. But when I sing a new one they always think it would be an old one they just don't know and when I tell them that it's actually a new one, they are like "eh? She still releases music?".
I think there is nothing wrong with "just" having a solid fanbase and don't being the hottest thing out there after 20 years in the business, though. |
