A weekly magazine has released a story that Tetsuya Komuro has been cheating on his wife of 15 years, globe’s KEIKO. During a press conference today in reponse to the story, Komuro announced that he will retire, thereby admitting his guilt. He apologized to KEIKO, his family, fans, and other people inconvenienced by his actions.

Tetsuya Komuro debuted in 1984 as a member of TM NETWORK. He reached his peak in the 90s, an era known as the “TK Boom”, where he created songs for the likes of Namie Amuro, globe, trf, Tomomi Kahala, and hitomi. Several of these releases sold millions of copies, cementing his legacy in the Japanese music industry.

Earlier today, Testuya Komuro announced his retirement in light of a weekly magazine reporting on him cheating on his wife KEIKO. It should come as no surprise that Shukan Bunshun is the source of this story.

In 2011, KEIKO was diagnosed with with a subarachnoid hemorrhage. During the time that his wife has been ill, Komuro has painted himself as a doting husband devoted to his wife’s care. Shukan Bunshun has revealed though that there is more to this story than meets the eye.

Komuro was seen staying at the home of a woman, who shall be called Ako-san, in mid-December. In early January, the couple had a secret rendezvous at a Tokyo luxury hotel, where they were spotted arm in arm. On January 13, Komuro took KEIKO to her parents’ home in Oita Prefecture. Later that day, he was seen with Ako-san at her home, where he again stayed overnight.

Ako-san is a single mother who resembles Kou Shibasaki. She met Komuro a few years ago when she was a nurse at a clinic. There, she gave him a “garlic injection”, which is mainly composed of the B1 vitamin. He continued getting these injections, but at his studio and her home as opposed to the clinic where she worked. From there, the relationship went from that of a patient and a nurse, to that of a man and a woman.

KEIKO’s mother is reportedly in shock about her son-in-law having a mistress.

When interviewed about this article, Komuro confessed his feelings for about 40 minutes. When the topic of the affair came up, he said it was a misunderstanding, which he apologizes for. He denied that he was in a relationship with Ako-san, but did say that they slept together.

Things over there can be so weird sometimes. Yeah, he is in the wrong for cheating, obviously. But I don't know why that means he can't make music anymore. One really doesn't have to do with the other, but this is Japan. lol. Actually, I'm more surprised that this is a big deal at all in a way because Japanese men cheating on their wives is pretty par for the course in my experience over there. It only ever seems to be a big deal if a wife is caught cheating on her husband.

Honestly, I really don't see why this would cause him to retire unless he just wants to, to begin with. I mean, Komuro has had scandals his entire career. All throughout the 90s he was known as a cheater who slept with several of his artists. He was also known for doing drugs (the most major offense in Japan usually). He has also been involved in fraud scandals. All of that and he didn't retire. He has spent the last several years cleaning up his image, but you know what they say, once a cheater, always a cheater.

That said, I love many, many of the songs he produced.

^ The good old honne vs. tatemae. The issue is he got caught.

What is ridiculous though is that this is really nothing given his...sordid past.

Wow wow wow!! I don't care about TK, I think he's disgusting but... Ayu just posted a video with her and KEIKO and it's clearly a way of showing support to KEIKO.

"Parking" your ill wife at her parents' home so you can fuck another woman is a pretty shitty thing to do. TK deserves the backlash he gets.
Love that Ayu showed solidarity with KEIKO over facebook.

This man is using the scandal to jubilate. It's simple. Nobody asked him to retire, even japanese people is upset because they don't want it.

He was arrested for fraud and he returned to the music, so you wanna me to believe that he's retiring for an affair?

He is disgusting for what he have made to Keiko, but it's private, he isn't a host, model, actor etc He is a composer, if he wants, he can still working in the industry.

Japan can be mad sometimes, but I think for the first time is not a problem of japanese people being so dramatic. The problem is simple, him. He wants this type of end, so let it be.

Edit: And it's disgusting that he is using her wife and the affair as an excuse for his retirement. Poor Keiko, she deserves better.

Honestly, it seems more like she is showing support for both or paying homage to Globe as a unit. It is a TK song afterall, and she hastagged TK and Globe in it.

TK ain't the 1st male Japanese celebrity to get caught for cheating with his wife but for him to choose retiring instead of issuing a public apology to KEIKO , I feel it's a real coward move to do :no

The fact that this was something the tabloids dug up and confronted TK over it , that make things worst

I don't understand the way Japan works at times (like they can turn a blind eye on adult porn / cheating related matters but when comes to drug charges , it's at the other end of the spectrum)

And I'm afraid that in future for male artistes who get caught cheating by the tabloids will follow the same way that TK does :x

I can't imagine how KEIKO is feeling right now . If I were her , I would just divorce TK . Once a cheater is always a cheater and KEIKO deserves so much more than this

A bright example of this would be Tomomi Kahala's career. She never fully recovered...

I've always found him sleazy... and was surprised to see him so quickly back after he embezzled all that money.

Sky High 31st January 2018 06:59 AM

He says that he is sorry because he was caught, otherwise he would continue with the same behavior.
