Radio static at the beginning of Teddy Bear...
 

When I downloaded Teddy Bear sometime ago, I played the mp3 and it had some weird static at the beginning, I thought the mp3 was faulty. Then when I finally got my copy of Duty, I played that song and the static was still there. So I've come to a conclusion that it's supposed to be there... hehehehe...

But does anyone have any idea what the static is supposed to represent? I mean I know the song is about her father leaving her, but I just couldn't figure out what meaning the static could've stood for...

It's supposed to be from the distant past. It sounds more like the static of a phonograph to me. Like an old record player, that is. I think it's just stylistic.

yeah, just an "oldies effect" i guess. :shrug
