Speculation: What happens if Ayu changes record companies?

After reading Ayu's comments at TeamAyu, I couldn't help but to come up with many "What ifs" for if she joins Max's label. I wonder and worry. . .

1. Will Max's record company make Overseas releases also? If not, that could be a fatal blow to her Overseas sales. Plus I know they're more affordable to Ayu fans who are unable to spend $26+ on a new album.

2. If Ayu does leave Avex, will Avex keep releasing the products she made while she was with them? I'm worried that Avex might stop releasing her CDs and videos since she wouldn't be one of their artists anymore.

3. And if Avex does stop releasing her old products, will Max's company re-release all of her former Avex products under his new label's name?

Since there isn't one right answer to any of the questions, everyone is free to speculate on what might happen in the future.

Ash and I were just talking about this on AIM and if Ayu does leave, it's possible that there won't be any remix CDs anytime soon, since Avex would have control over her previous songs. Plus, I wonder if such things like A-Nation would be cancelled if she (or anyone else from Avex) leaves soon. Performances and future CD releases might be put on hiatus (CDTV, Hey!x3, etc). And regarding OS releases, I'm curious about that as well. Maybe with this move, Max may try to market Ayu in other countries, but Ayu's "engrish" would have to seriously be worked on if she ever wants to succeed here.

This is nuts... IMO, Avex and Max are both not good for Ayu...

Max already tried to kill her career, didn't he? And he's the one who decided to release A BALLADS and all this mini-album nonsense didn't he? I don't get it... I'm really looking forward to see whats gonna happen...

Why would she stop the OV releases?

fantaisie.sign 3rd August 2004 02:07 AM

^ Ayu doesn't control her Overseas releases, Avex (more specifically, Avex Asia in Hong Kong) does. I'm just wondering if Max's label will set up a company elsewhere in Asia for Overseas releases since Avex artists also depend on their sales sucess Overseas.

akatsuki 3rd August 2004 02:12 AM

Well, most of the compagnies allow the OV, no? which one doesn't do? Isn't this common?

I have a feeling that avex is going to re-release all her singles starting from "Boys & Girls", obviously, to earn as much $ as possible for the last time. I'm also wondering if she's still continuing the rest of a-nation performances, it just started and considering she's no longer under avex. Then even her homepage is going to be removed soon including TeamAyu, those special items (T-shirt, caps, cellphone straps) previously made for these events are useless now, you see, that's A LOT of changes... And talking about max's side, a newly started company takes some time before they fully run into functioning properly, it could result in that her next single being delayed etc all stuff, I won't be shocked if her 7th album is going to be released next summer...

It's a matter of course.

Hamasaki probably signed a contract with Avex...so I dont think she'll be leaving right away =\ unless her contract expires? And yeah buisness takes a long time to set up, so I dont think shes going to be leaving right away their.

I think what you should worry about is, who owns the rights to her songs? Poe (the singer not dead guy) left her record lable, and now she has to fight for her songs =\

Ditto, so much confusion! If she was to switch record labels I'd like her to go to Sony but whatever. Wonder how Max's label will be...

Aldonia 3rd August 2004 03:15 AM

Gosh, this is so confusing. I hope they don't stop releasing her old stuff if she leaves -- my Ayu collection is just barely getting started.. :vsad :bawl

God, I don't know how all of this problem got started! If Ayu leaves avex and join Matsuura, that would be harder than joining a well-known label such as Sony Music or EMI (in EMI case, she'll be fighting with Hikki thou :p). But, if the man behind avex leave the group, i believe he has something BIG in mind. We don't know whether Ayu would DARE to leave avex or not, but I always wish her the best,,, (even if there's no OV release with the new label, we can get the mp3s hehehe..)

Unimatrix Prime™ 3rd August 2004 03:46 AM

The drama has ended, so Ayu won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

Findlay 3rd August 2004 03:53 AM

We're all pwned. x_x

lovia 3rd August 2004 10:17 AM

i think everything will be gone, i guess...all the performances will stop and ayu's career maybe kind of stop a while and in my opinion, the most crucial thing i guess was Nagase and her relationship !!! there will be many many many gossips and rumours circulating and Ayu will be all over the news =P
