[Opinion] Moments on Memorial address?

I was just randomly listening to Moments and looking at the Memorial address album booklet simultaneously. A thought occurred to me: Memorial address is a really small album. I know that's not the remark of a supergenius, but it is about half the size, tracklist-length-wise, of all of Ayu's other albums. Do you think she should have waited until she had more songs to put on the album, or do you like it the way it is? And what about its lack of instrumental tracks and interludes?

I personally think Memorial address is charming and sophisticated the way it is. But the song "Moments" which came out after Memorial address, IMO, really suits the album. Judging solely by "GAME," "INSPIRE," and "CAROLS," it doesn't quite share the exact style of Ayu's upcoming album. But it has a really nostalgic, sophisticated edge to it, which I feel when l look at the Memorial address booklet and listen to certain tracks.

In a semi-related, whimsical, hypothetical question, of the few tracks we have heard from Ayu's upcoming album, which do you think would make the best signature title track? So far I think she's done a great job at choosing a title track that really sets the mood for the given album. Each album has a different taste to it, and when I hear a song I can immediately pinpoint which album (in other words, which point in Ayu's career) it was from.

Thoughts and friendly banter?

I think that a while ago, Ayu said that Memorial Address was a "Christmas gift" to her fans. I don't think she would've waited til 2004 to release it because of her comment, but at the same time, there's usually a new album at least once a year, hence why Memorial Address was released when it was. As for the other question you asked, we haven't heard full versions of CAROLS and About You to decide on that.

I think M.A is fine as it is, remember it's lowered 2000yen price tag, and the CD+DVD deal for 3000yen was a really good bargain. Most full length albums are priced at around 2910yen (or something like that) even if they only had ten tracks.

As for title signture track. That's always been a track we don't hear until the album releases because it's usually not a single. So we don't know. But if you're talking about the ones released so far, we only have 3, I can't decide yet, but definately not the latter 2.

No, I'd rather have Moments on the new album. Though I would like to have seen Sotsugyo Shashin (sp as always for that song), Theme of a-nation '03, and even Rainbow on Memorial Address ;D

I like it how it is. I'm glad that she didn't rush for it and put out a lot of filler songs. And it is kinda common for the first single to slightly seem like it's out of place in the new album...look at free & easy. it was like a song from I Am....

no comments... as long as Moments will be in one of the album will be good ^^

I always thought MA should've been like this:

1. ANGEL'S SONG
2. Greatful days
3. Because of You
4. ourselves
5. HANABI ~episode II~
6. Moments
7. No way to say
8. theme of a-nation '03
9. forgiveness
10.RAINBOW
11.Memorial address (take 2 version)

Yeah...I also think that Moments fits rather well with the whole Memorial Address mini-album. So far, I'm just left with the impression that Moments doesn't fit in with the other songs that were released. But then again...that's only 3 songs outta a potential 15-track album? So I guess anything at this point is just mere speculation. Who knows? Maybe INSPIRE and GAME won't fit with the whole album. But whatever comes out of it, I'm sure I'll be happy.

Moments on Memorial address is a good idea - I think it would fit well with the rest of the album. It's a bit difficult to tell at this stage whether it would fit in with the songs released this year on a new album - will just have to wait and see.

First of all, interesting thread. :)
I always thought that Avex's management had something to do with the release of M.A. Ayu has never waited for more than a year to release an album (except for I am... which came out a year and few months after Duty), and since all her albums sell into the millions, Avex had to capture the c
rucial Christmas period to release an album. I liked M.A. but I just think it wasn't worthy of Ayu's name...to me it just felt incomplete and an excuse for more money for Avex. I still think she should've released a full length album, with the necessary instrumentals etc.

hhmmm
i think it is ok

I'm sure Avex would've commissioned enuf songs for a full album by last Christmas, since a full album is more expensive n' sells much better (they want more $$)

However, Avex may hv postponed the release of Moments n' maybe INSPIRE bcoz there's this prblm of including DVDs from M.A.

If M.A. is a full album w/ DVD, it'll cost a expensive sum of more than 4,000yen, which may decrease the sales, so Avex decided to cut down the number of songs to compensate.
3300yen looks good enuf~

Also, one of the special features mentioned in the CMs was it's the 1st time all songs in an album had its own MV. There's the exceptional case for Memorial address, which was a bonus track.

MedJohn 3rd September 2004 11:53 AM

RAINBOW (2002): 1,800,000 copies X 3000 yen = 5,400,000,000 yen
Memorial address (2003): 1,000,000 copies X *2650 yen = 2,650,000,000 yen

*2650 is the average of both versions, since both versions shared abt half of the sales

Of coz, not all whole sum gets to Avex's pockets, since a certain amount goes to HMV n' other retailers, but u can c tht the amount Avex has earned from ayu in 03' compared w/ 02' has decreased by half~~

Camille 3rd September 2004 09:16 PM

I love it just the way it is... It's quite small but it give something extra? don't you think... And my favorite Memorial DVD!

jerms 3rd September 2004 10:03 PM

the feel of the song moments really does fit the memorial address cd..(remember, MINI ALBUM!) and i agree that it should've been included but i guess it wasnt recorded yet back then. about you, inspire, game, and carols belong to a new cd to me, their another new style imo. (well besides carols, but i didnt really like it so i dont think it goes on m.a., haha.)

one of the reasons i wish moments was on MA is because i was really impressed with the song, and i loved memorial address, and everything after moments so far has dissapointed me..oh well.

jerms 3rd September 2004 10:05 PM

forgot to mention, doenst really matter to me cause i burend it with moments on it, haha.

LEOyumi 3rd September 2004 10:23 PM

No.. It has the feeling of the Memorial Address, but as it is a Mini Album, putting one more song would make the album very "big" o.O

gogirlanime 3rd September 2004 11:12 PM

I think it's O.K. as it is, even though I was WAY upset at the time that it only had 3 new tracks, it was also lower in price, plus it comes with 2 PVs you can't get on the CCB. Now I'm quite pleased with it, and when you don't have enough time for a whole album, Memorial Adress is the perfect pick

Ibitsu Kokoro 4th September 2004 05:33 AM

I thinks its fine the way it is.
