What the heck is the Real Me PV trying to get across?

What does the Real Me PV mean? I get.. really confused when watching it.

Ayu PV are always so confusing :confused. Personally i dont think the real me pv has a meaning, just one for entertainment :think

walking proud 12th September 2004 12:35 AM

well if she's just trying to be entertaining. . . at least she did that. . . haha. ^^

The gist of the Real Me PV (from my memory) is that Ayumi is in a "dancing cyborg factory" in the future. Well, that sparkly weird Ayu is the queen of the factory or what not and she's in control of making all these cyborgs. From what I remember, there is the other Ayu in white too who comes out and dances...well one of the Ayu's is a fake cyborg, but I'm not quite sure which one. I think in the end the dancing one in white walks away while the other turns out to just be a cyborg and falls down into that pit with all the white dudes in the bottom. It is kind of confusing though, because it always seemed to me like the dancing Ayu is the one that gets created and that'd make sense since it is a dancing cyborg factory. But she's also the one who walks away in the end. I dunno...it is kind of confusing, I hope I helped you more than just confused you more.

It just seemed that in the Rainbow time period, her videos presented her as two different sides. In those PV's, she showed how they can both correlate to one another. Like in Rainbow, they complemented each other and were almost the same person. So I'm thinking in Real Me that the cyborg ayu is kind of the lost/sad part of ayu while the ayu in white is the happy part that is just rearing to get out and dance! Okay, that was a really bad explanation so I'll just say this: Its probably for entertainment. Don't think too much about it!

Thanks.. I understand a little bit more now. Gosh darn confusing videos. I guess I could've looked at the lyrics and guessed.. but they really didn't relate well to the video.

I think it's about creation. Creating this cyborgs and yet the main cyborg wants something more. So she creates from herself a living human that is Ayu in white. Then she destroys her other creations to allow true life.

they're all so cool, so r ayu's pvs..

jerms 12th September 2004 06:39 AM

what are u guys talking about? i thought htis pv was pretty simple. the basis was female pride, a woman can _____ right? all the guys were the manicans and they were being killed off or whatever, lol. destroyed? robotized or whatever. :shrug at least thats what came out for me. i never even questioned that.

weijie22 12th September 2004 07:16 AM

it wants to show that woman are powerful beings
man are not their match
haha

~ayu-cake~ 12th September 2004 05:59 PM

Err i though it showed 2 Ayu's one cyborg and one real, and trying to say that once was the Real her, and was just a fake, like what all women have different sides to them, err i think?

ohsixthirty 12th September 2004 11:17 PM

Meant to be entertaining...yes. But most Ayu PV's have more meaning behind them than just entertainment.

Delirium-Zer0 14th September 2004 01:44 AM

Actually I think the PV takes alot of its theme from the german silent movie "Metropolis".

Cyborg Ayu - Robot Maria
Sparkly Ayu - Fredersen
Other Cyborgs destroying factory - Workers Destroying Machines

The fact that they're dancing could take from Madonna's "Express Yourself" video and Janet Jackson's "Rhythm Nation" video, both of which are well-known for being slightly based on aspects of "Metropolis".

What the video is trying to say is that dancing pop stars can be strong too, but the higher-ups at labels often won't listen to them and let them do their art the way they want to. Many pop stars you see are talentless, but some of them just have talent that's hindered by record labels trying to make money rather than promote real artists.

The rebel ayu doesn't actually walk away at the end. She's destroyed and tossed into the pile of dead bare dolls.

(I did this video for a film class project :P~)

Wait, I thought she did? I thought the gilttery Ayu who had the little chip things fell into the pit at the end? I remember that you see one of those little chips in the end, and I thought that meant it was the glittery Ayu?

Maybe I need to watch it again.

Queen Bee 14th September 2004 03:09 PM

^
actually I believe you are right.I just watched the PV and if you look the glittery Ayu is holding a card with a body on it saying Real me inside the body and at the end they show the cyborg that had been dropped and it's holding that card.

ohsixthirty 14th September 2004 06:15 PM

^ Yeah, that's what I thought, and I rewatched it too. I'm still confused on who is the fake cyborg Ayu though, because that glittery one has those places on her neck and stuff but it seems like she creates the Ayu in white. Hrm.

norain 15th September 2004 07:05 AM

I found the reason!!! well at least in my speculation...and I think it's VERY good to the music video...

She has said herself that there is TWO DIFFERENT AYUs...One Ayumi a product of Avex, the other Ayumi, herself...the real her, who and what she is to her relatives.

The robot, aka the product of avex, sings etc...when she creates HERSELF that is the other ayumi, the real her hence 'real me' she dances etc just to entertain the video...*=thought= ayu might really like to dance in her home life* just like Fly High she was singing on the stage and is also, in the crowd. There is one Ayu, the Ayu named Ayumi Hamasaki a product of Avex the Singer-Queen Cyborg Factory. There is the second Ayu, the Ayu named 'ayu' to her folks at home, this is her in white...At the end 'ayu' is thrown away because now Ayumi Hamasaki is a product...she throws her real self away...for her fans...

*I think that was thoughful enough , -tear jerk- lol :(

edit: forgot to read the other posts :o I don't believe the Q-Ayu is thrown away...this is due to because she puts the card in the slot to MAKE the real me ayu...for all those who don't think I'm right watch it again it goes in and then it makes the white ayu :eviltongu :eviltongu :eviltongu

ohsixthirty 15th September 2004 07:39 AM

^ But the Ayu in white, if she is created, she never has that card...only the glittery Ayu has access to those cards and she is holding it in the end...

Interesting ideas by the way, the idea that she throws her real self away for her fans... :'(

walking proud 15th September 2004 11:24 PM

ah, so confused! so confusing.. maybe i should just let it go XD
