Question about Because of You PV

Because of You is a great PV, but what's it about? When I saw it I couldn't help thinking it was about prositutes.

Well, if this question has been answered before, my apologies.

MsMiyabi 29th October 2004 10:49 PM

I think is is a bout Prositutes. I would explain

starr5245 30th October 2004 05:31 AM

sigh, it's really a disgusting PV. Actually, I don't really like it. Read the lyrics to know more about it.

extepan 30th October 2004 11:14 AM

indeed...i hate the pv....it is so cheap
apparently ayu is a prostitute in the pv, and the white substance represents the masculine bodily fluid called semen. o_O

lol
because of you is one of my favourite PV's and i think the white liquid coming out represents innocence and purity
can't be semen >_<

sorry to destroy your innocence, but it apparently does represent semen.

ohsixthirty 30th October 2004 02:08 PM

^Says who??? I don't think it does.

MsMiyabi 30th October 2004 07:27 PM

Well I love the pv its great!

Echiko 30th October 2004 08:40 PM

@ @;; I would be SCARED if it was semen okay? SCARED. and ayumi is NOT a ****. So...in conlusion..I think it represents purity slipping out of her fingers. ^_^ And I liked the PV. It always made me sad...it's like that innocent guy goes in to give flowers but she did not want him to be with the likes of her. So she pushes him away and cries. T_T

y2687 30th October 2004 08:49 PM

... o_o

why's everyone so afraid of semen? O_o it's not like it's dirty or toxic. I think it was daring for Ayu to make this PV, no matter WHAT the white liquid was. I liked this PV, it was a good change. :)

Echiko 30th October 2004 09:04 PM

XD I don't take it like it's poison or toxic. It's kinda...umm...straighforward...disgusting to have it run down your fingers like running water. o_o;; But I agree. It was very daring and brave of her to make this. ^____^ That's why nonetheless, I like it too.

stephymoo 30th October 2004 09:22 PM

*shrugs* She was just probably trying to make a statement about Japanese society or something. The white stuff probably represents semen -I mean, there are girls dressed as prostitutes in the pv- but who knows? It was interesting to see her do something different with her pvs.

Shiso 31st October 2004 12:31 AM

You people talking it reoresents semen... don't You know what semen looks like? :P Definately not like this "white fluid" ;)

Echiko 31st October 2004 12:51 AM

xD;; okay. so we know for sure.

Shiso 31st October 2004 01:20 AM

It was a brave PV - maybe she wanted to make it more matching the song? "A rockish, angry style"? :P

As for me it's a PV about love, but not about romantic, idealistic love, but about 20th century love - not fulfilled.

There are 5 prostitutes (or 6 if I'm not mistaken). They are shown randomly. At first I didn't even notice one was one of them shown and when the other ones were.

Ayu is NOT a prostitute. She's like a person who tells the story.

There are men who pay the prostitutes for sexual performances etc. But none of them know that the prostitutes have feelings for them.

There is a moment when one of the guys sees Ayu in the TV (an interesting thing - the main screen shows only the body, only the smaller screent on top of the main one shows the face) - he discovers the feelings a prostitute had for him.

He brings her flowers... why is he rejected? Please notice that he brought flowers to ALL 6 girls. They rejected him. As long as he was doing it for mere male pleassure it didn't hurt the girls. But when he tried to play with their feelings - it was too much.

Also an interesting thing - the anime that is shown in the TV in the prostitutes' room. The anime shows a perfect love. The girl in the anime falls in love, is unhappy because of love but all this ends happy... a perfect happy end. But the reality isn't like that. The reality is crual and it doesn't have a happy ending. "Life" is not a "fairy tale".

And the white fluid... I think it was supposed to look like semen, at first glance (to match the whole theme of the PV). But I suppose it does have a special meaning, I mean - come on - Ayu wouldn't put SEMEN in her PV without it having a meaning. I think I will stick with the version that says that the "whiteness" is just a symbol of purity... and they all are purified at the end of the PV...

A long post - if someone managed to read it - please share comments!

obviously she wouldnt use REAL semen in her pv LOL
it REPRESENTS semen, thats what i am saying.

Kazuko 31st October 2004 08:53 PM

i really liked the song...
i really liked the PV...
i don't care about what the white stuff is!! XDDD

sakyh 31st October 2004 09:27 PM

hm...i liked the video. I think the white stuff does have something to do with purity...We'll just have to ask her someday.^^
But, I agree with you Shiso.

Catzi 31st October 2004 09:47 PM

So, it is about prostitutes...

I really don't think the PV has anything to do with the lyrics. The red flowers and the pink crosses seem to be the only thing with any bright colors, so perhaps they symbolize something?

And that semen theory is interesting...

Either way, it made me have a new view on Ayu, I always thought of her as well, not really dealing with stuff such as prostitutes.

I think so from the first time i see the PV,
wow, it must be a breakthrough for ayu to include semen in her PV, but it also can describe 'innocence' and 'purity', heaven knows...
