Ayumi Hamasaki article in a UK MAG!!!!

And it's not good news ;_;

I bought a magazine earlier called neo, it's a british publication all about anime, manga, asian cinema and Jpop, and they're first Jpop profile was Ayu. However, the article was so opinionated it was almost a joke.

It said how she's only famous for her image and "hawking" a load of different products. If that's not bad enough though, it then went on to say... "Watch Ayumi live and you realise it can't be about the music - she's off key from beginning to end." and it also calls her music souless... it's safe to say i quickly signed up at the official forum and gave them some facts...

I'll try and scan the article tomorrow.

:gun :shutup Didnt know uk mag is as bad as the HK, was about to ask u where ubuy the mag from. But :wtf Think we should all post them some fact's lol :innocent

bulmasman 1st December 2004 10:53 PM

you can get the mag in most newsagents i think... i picked mine up at my local Spar, but hmv, virgin and whsmith's stocks it aswell apparantly. on a whole it's decent, but they got a crappy ayu article in.

ayuchanfan 1st December 2004 10:54 PM

woah, and i thought hk newspapers bad. now all uk people arent gonna welcome ayu if she debuts there :(

Mirai Noah 1st December 2004 11:18 PM

Ayu-'s music is not souless! *sigh* I guess some people just don't get it...

Lodestar 1st December 2004 11:31 PM

We shouldn't get so worked up over these sort of articles.
As someone becomes more famous/successful, other begin to target them and attempt to bring them down.

All that matters is we know the truth and support her- Ayu will continue to grow as an artist and thrive in the music industry.

how could they say that?!

What J-pop idol isn't famous for their image and hawking a load of products? :rolleyes

Larisa-chan 2nd December 2004 01:18 AM

If I saw a clip of Ayumi performing live, didn't know much about her, and she performed poorly, I might have formed the same opinion.

Coelacanth 2nd December 2004 01:19 AM

It's basically an anime magazine right?

So, it's not even worth getting worked up over. Most anime fans are just annoying. Their idea of J-pop is T.M. Revolution and Two-Mix... :rolleyes (No offense to anyone who absoleutely loves them.)

I'm sure they must think Megumi Hayashibara is much more brilliant too... :rolleyes

Qt Mashi 2nd December 2004 01:32 AM

oh darn, how could they say that...

Hazard 2nd December 2004 01:37 AM

I'm an anime fan and don't think like that. Who do these people think they are bashing Ayu? Then again, everyone's got their opinion, whether we agree with it or not. (TMR and Two-Mix are great, but Ayu's much better, IMO.) Shouldn't take it too seriousely. In fact, I've already forgotten. *goes off to watch Ayumi lives*

Coelacanth 2nd December 2004 01:40 AM

Yeah, I used to like anime music... Until I found Ayu, DAI, and other J-pop was much more superior.

akatsuki 2nd December 2004 01:56 AM

oh lol... Whenever western or european mags talk about Ayumi, it's about old stuff~ probably they talked about the bad period she did in live (seasons, etc...)

im gonna write a message to them about that!

ImpactBreaker 2nd December 2004 02:05 AM

They know nothing about ayu and act like experts ahahaha That's one reason I hate certain magazines! the writers are so dumb sometimes and they act as if they were experts when covering something they hardly even know about. I find it funny when they try to act smart on health knowledge and end up saying a lot of stupid ignorant things ahahhaha I mean god, to write article you have to be neutral and in order to be neutral you have to know the facts. They just go, watch one video and make assumptions out of that. If i were to make assumptions out of one bad live performance all the artists would suck imo, because even themasters can make very terrible mistakes.

Hm i wonder if it is the british newtype. =/ God they only had one article on ayu and it wasn't even in the music section! They have not ONCE featured ayu. I haven't even seen utada in there! Or anybody else I recognize. :wtf

Their contact us thing doesn't work. o_o;

edit: and come to think of it! They always have ads for the JAPAN music magazine. THey act like TM revolution! That's all they care about! ... btw, who else thinks he's creepy? o_o;

Juya Chan 2nd December 2004 06:14 AM

so if they are saying how much she sucks, then why does she have millions of fans who buy her products and go to her live concerts? At a quick glance, yeah maybe they can make that sort of opinion, but I think given her status they should have looked into what she's done to make herself so likeable.... and profitable :) Cuz let's face it, she's a master of marketing!

Cyria 2nd December 2004 07:37 AM

I'm not surprised. Ayu's a huge star and, as much as I love her, I have to say she doesn't have the best of voices. She's an easy target in a way. But she puts so much of herself into her songs and her performances that I'd rather watch her than some other artist with a perfect voice and no personality.
