Company sales earnings for 2004 (no source)
 

According to Apple Daily, Ayu's sales earning for 2004 (not including concerts) as reported by Oricon is 5.4 billion yen which is roughly 51.9 million USD.

This places her 5 fifth behind Hikaru Utada (8.6 billion yen), EXILE (6.6 bil), Porno Graffitti (6.5 bil) and ORANGE RANGE (6.2 bil).

For those of you wondering why Ken Hirai isn't among the top I guess it's because he doesn't release that much...he's only been selling singles this year which can't compare to albums when it comes to earnings and his album came really late in the year.

NOTE! These aren't actually how much Ayu earnt but rather how much the company gained from the cd sales.

Artists get ~8-12% of the wholesale price of a CD, so Ayu probably recieved about US$3.5 million of that herself. But endorsements, ads and merchandising will more than double that figure meaning overall she probably earnt more than the others mentioned.

I wonder what kind of Christmas presents she manages to buy her friends with money like that...

I think the world should have just one currency because yen sounds big.. but it's actaully not when you put it in USD

i remember reading from a website that her sales in 2001 were worth $200 million american dollars!! now she is not releasing much, the sales are naturally down a lot from previous years
