My Name´s WOMAN _my name´s ayu!

What did u guys think of the PV?
I was wondering here... i dind like.... I mean, teh music is really cool because they re-mixed the thing.
But I dont like when ayu play this SEXY lady, she is not like this.... i´m notsaying she is in real life, im talking abou PVs ok!! lol. I thin Kumi or othersinger can play better this part pf the game.

The could have done 1000 better thing to show how strong a woman is.

Basically, the song is about how people see girls as weak, not powerful, flirty, slu*ty maybe, that they only like cute things and stuff like that, but that it isn't true and that women can also be more powerful or equal than man, perhaps. The PV cleary showed that girls can also 'kick a man's ass'. Overall, it's about sexism. The PV had a point, but i think she didn't put a lot of that message into the PV.

At the start, we see those white women flirting with the guys, talking and stuff like that. When Ayu gets on the stage, and they react to that as if it hasn't something that is aloud to women, but men only. At the end, they soon realize that women can also do what any men can. This is how i see the PV.

I wanted more from nerdy Ayu though. And those dancers... argh.

You see the dancer guy basically ignore the cute/nerdy ayu? As if that a cute/nerdy girl didn't need/want/deserve to be flirted with and treated all sexy?

Then the cute/nerdy ayu 'leaves' and in comes this sexy, confident, flirt, I-can-kick-your-butt-even-though-I'm-a-women ayu comes in. She dances, looks sexy, flirts, doesn't give the guy the type of flirt sexy attention he wants from her.. but in the end, when the sexy Ayu is leaving.. you see the cute/nerdy ayu for a second?

I think it's like.. 'HEY! YOU! even though I am shy, nerdy, not overly outgoing, not all dressed up like the others.. DOESN'T mean I'm not a woman and that I can't be all those things.. because even if I look like I'm not I can still be sexy, strong, confidant, and it's not YOUR place to decide who can and cannot be that' a woman can be outgoing sexually, can dance and show her stuff. not just men
.. but maybe that's just me. I really like this PV, I really do like the sexier side of Ayu, although yes the nerdy/cute Ayu is adorable.. I like seeing a sexier side of her too. ^_^

Yes, exactly! I agree on how you see the PV.

Love Appears 20th April 2005 12:24 AM

I anticipate this PV to receive the most negative/mixed responses because it's so out there for Ayumi Hamasaki; it's not something we've seen of her before. The provacative dancing, the whips, etc. Coupled with the fact that some don't care for the song.

I think it's good to have tried something new, though. Variety is the spice of life, yes? Was it deep? No, not really.
Was it entertaining? Absolutely.

I was impressed by almost everything, from how they mixed up the song to how well they established the song's point. Ayu posesses a fierceness and passion in this PV that's just remarkable, and the expression of that was very well done.

i totally agree with your P.O.V. Yukiko-chan!!! i think the PV is more like a rebellion towards typical sterotypes towards women!!! i really like the pv...ahahahaha...at first i was shocked at the sexy AYU but as the PV progressed...it's nice...very fun to watch :cool

.

I'm sure it will still probably get alot of negative responses.. more so because of her sexiness in the video. From what I've noticed while reading around.. people aren't open to the idea of Ayu being sexy like all of a sudden. They'd prefer cuteyness although there are some people that don't care for her cuteness either.

I'm also glad she tried something new like you said, this video is ALOT different than many of the PV's of Ayu's I've seen.. and it's a wonderful thing.

I agree. I mean, come on now! The woman is 26. She can't be cute all her life. One day, she'll have to get in touch with her sexy side. And that's now!

She's no longer a girl.

Yeah it was pretty impressive! Unfortunately a lot of people will just look at it as something "skanky". I think she actually portraied everything with style. And Yukiko-Chan I agree with everything you've said so far ;)

Yeah it IS wordefull.. Please do not misunderstand me ok^^" I just thought maybe the pv could have be done other way.... BUT im not saying that it is bad....

PickleCookies 20th April 2005 12:43 AM

^_^;; calm down hun, my post wasn't targeted at anyone. It was just my opinion that although it was different for Ayu, very sexy and out there compared to her normal.. I think it is a wonderful thing. (despite knowing that there will be people who totally hate it for her 'over' sexiness)
You are right, the PV could have been done other ways that would have worked just fine..
However, I don't mind the way it is at all. ^_^

Hanazaki 20th April 2005 01:07 AM

I don't mind Ayumi being sexy and all, but I didn't like the sexual tones in this PV. Whips? Exotic dancers? It's too...'suggestive' for me to handle -_- I mean, there's more to women empowerment than just being...um, 'sexually' powerful, so as a female I don't really like such suggestiveness of this PV -_-

I liked this video the most out of the three new ones that came out. However, there seemed to be a lot of contradictions starting with the atmosphere. It looks like the director wanted to capture a 20's/vintage vibe initially but not all the women were dressed up like that and so that basically failed, lol.

I LOVE Ayumi's hair and hair accessories (were they earrings? or something attached to the back of her head). It looked like the guys were the sexual objects in the beginning, so I think the 'feminist' or 'girl power' message really goes astray because Ayumi & the 2 dancers become the spectacle. In the end, you're a strong woman because you can engage in S&M? lol. I love the video but the message that I think was supposed to be sent (i.e. women can be strong, can be anything, etc) goes off in the wrong direction.

re: the guys in the video. The white guy doorman was kind of hot, hotter than all the other guys in the PV anyway. Everyone had tight bodies, so I was appreciating that. ^^ Woohoo, man-candy.

JinHamasaki 20th April 2005 01:19 AM

Hehe I just had a weird thought about the pv.

Recently in Japan, male geishas are very popular. Male singers are becoming more and more popular (Ken Hirai, ORANGE RANGE, EXILE - Orange Range winning the Golden Disc Awards).. Perhaps Ayu is getting out of style (the nerdy Ayu). Apparently she still has some secret up her sleeves for us ;)

ayuchanfan 20th April 2005 01:25 AM

I think she is trying to say is that a girls image or how she looks doesnt represent how she acts or thinks.

They didn't want to show women empowerment with the way the girls dressed but the opposite imo. They wanted to show how women are seem by men like sexual objects only. But ayu shows that the women aren't there to please any of the guys, that women are far more than a body being displayed for appreciattion. tHe lyrics of the song are pretty clear on that. The girls instead of submitting themselves to the guys slap them and kick their butts of instead. I don't think the message would look funny if ayu dressed like the usual "cutesy" ayu like image

Anopther interpretation would be: she had to look rough in order for the PV to carry the message of the lyrics. The fact that everything looks sexual was done to indeed give a weird feeling to the people watching it because ayu wants to show that women aren't the glamorous doll's that only think about jewels and pretty dresses and which men can manipulate the way they want. The sadistic looks show that the women can make men suffer and that they have control of their own lives, not having to get submitted by what men want. Meaning they're not masochists, the passive image the society (including even the women themselves) have of the female sex. If ayu were to show the usual "Look I'm very cute and shy girl and this is the girl's power" It would go against what she would like to have passed through the lyrics of the song.
