How are your music files organized?
 

I need ideas ....because I have music everywhere in my docs...and it's crazy...I need to find a good organizing method :3 so share yours! [please ^^-]

I just put all my songs directly from my CDs to my mp3 player. I think I only have 2 or 3 mp3s in the 'My Music' folder on my computer right now...><;

But I'd just go By Artist and then By Albums/Singles in subgroups (By Name)inside those folders....

Here's a good example:
Ayumi Hamasaki (Folder in My Music)

Albums (Folder in Ayumi Hamasaki):
-A Song For XX (Folder in Albums)
-I am... (Same)
-MY STORY (Same)

Singles(Folder in Ayumi Hamasaki):
-And (&) (Folder in Singles)
-appears (Same)
-CAROLS (Same)
-INSPIRE (Same)

Mine goes like this:

My Computer -> D Drive -> My Music -> (Big list of Artist) -> Albums(folders) -> Tracks

Video:

My Computer -> D Drive -> My Video -> (Big list of Artist) -> Concerts/PV -> Video

I use the crappy program Ares, and it somewhat has my songs in order. Just by artist thouh, so my ayumi folder and a few others are gigantic and have no order to them

i do the samething...........but i use the pic on the album cover as an icon so i know what is what........



i put every thing ayu realated (pics,music,pv,clips......ect) in a folder called ayu and sub folders

I used to sort everything just by artist and plunge every song into just one folder per artist so I wouldn't have dupes. Got really annoyed with that though as I'm a completist and I hate having incomplete stuff. So right now I have only full albums and singles and such (leave for a folder called APop that has some individual songs by artist), which are organized as:

My Music > A > and then the albums by artists with an A alphabetically

And then so on for every letter and a folder called +Various Artists+ which has compilations and such. I added the +'s so it's automatically on top.

Like acimahs, I use cover pics on the folders so it looks cool. Like this:

Works fine for me.

If you have single mp3's of different pplz this is wht I do. I name a CD called New CD 1 and put as many a CD can hold hten burn it... Its not the best but I like my method. :yes

I just have one big folder and I throw all my music in there in alphabetical order!

But I don't have a lot of music now. When I have more I typically make folders for a few of my favorite artists that have more mp3s, otherwise everthing else is lumped in one folder. Oh, and usually I'll have one seperate folder for videos too.

For me, I just have things organized by artists.

Program Files > Ares Lite Edition > My Shared Folder > mp3s > Artist > tracks

Program Files > Ares Lite Edition > My Shared Folder > Videos > Artist > video
Except, with my Ayu videos, I have them organized in these catgeories:
ayupan
Behind the Scenes
CM
Concerts
DVDs
Making of
Performances
PV
Young Ayu

I'm not very organized.

I just throw everything in a folder. I used to organize but I don't even listen to my old songs anymore.

My songs are organize by Country>Artist>Album or Single. I always add a picture to the folder. Quite simple. It's very easy to find what I want. *I love to organize things* I'm crazy Xpppp lol

anyways, great ideas everyone :), I mostly like sxesven's, BanFan's, and Acimahs's ideas :) mooore ideas :D!!!

I put everything (MP3s, PVs, lives, etc) in one big folder. But, I do have a sub folder for lyrics and one for pictures and photobooks. =)

I love the picture folder idea... I may have to copy that :)

haahahaha I eventualy dicovered that I could add pics to the folders. lol It's very useful to find albums without reading all the names. \(´¬`")>
