Thoughts on "alterna"

Well, I guess we have enough for the discussion of the 'totally different style' PV. How about the song itself?
I think CMJK has done a splendid job on arrangement coz the background fits the PV and the song very much-creepy feeling. The melody is ear-catching, i'm now always humming it! I did not expect the song to be like this! The special sound effect is also perfectly blended into the song and the PV!

And well, I have to say, this is by far the best song in 2005, followed by STEP you.

I like the song very much, but I'm waiting for a full quality version of the song to come out before really commenting on it.

I love the song!

It is indeed a very catchy song. Even if it is a rockish song, it's not the generic rock song.. it is more original sounding than her rest of her rock songs.

Endlessoul 22nd July 2005 02:15 PM

yeah I agree...I like the arrangment so much, CMJK did a very good job even sometimes not...
In my opinion...now Ayu's voice does need this kind of J. rock songs. she can no longer sing the songs like YOU or so...
I LIKE IT SO MUCH~:D

elepop 22nd July 2005 05:34 PM

Love it. It's very different from her previous rockish song. Two thumbs up!

Coelacanth 22nd July 2005 05:45 PM

I didn't hear it in high quality yet, but I think I'll end up loving it. It's a very different rock song from her, and I'd like her to continue making rock songs like this. The drums sound great. The guitar solo part is great. The silence before the second chorus is great. Her vocals are great. The melody is great. Overall, this is just one of her strongest songs in a long time, 'Memorial Address' quality, and with an awesome PV. I could have done without the 'HEY HEY HEYYYY' part. But ah well.

From listening to it in the PV, I think it's a really good song. As others have said, it's a different type of rockish song than what she's done before.

Yup, I think Ayu is now using her full vocal quality in this song and some of her more recent songs like "About You". I think her real more natural voice is a lot deeper and huskier, which I like a lot. Even though her singing in "HONEY" and "STEP you" aren't bad because it is refreshing to mix up the vocals a lot so I enjoy her light more poppy voice and also her much more deeper natural toned voice.

I nearly died in the small TV clip of her singing "About You" in her Arena Tour 2004-2005 A ~MY STORY Tour. It was so deep and damn sexy... man is it awesome being an Ayu fan right now.

am I the only one that likes the 'HEY HEY HEYYYY' part? lol

I really like this mix of electronic voice to rock. GAME's wasn't that good with it.. but 'alterna' actually fits.

i like the hey hey hey's...especially the last two with the soffter instruments..haha

Qt Mashi 22nd July 2005 08:10 PM

i think it's pretty good...i'll like it better if thequality of the song is better and when i stop thinking bout how weird the PV is lol

PrismaticTears 22nd July 2005 08:34 PM

This is pretty much the only pop-rock song of hers I've really liked. Is This Love? was ok-ish but too much in the shrill vocals department, I think this song though balanced it out nicely.

Gunblitze 22nd July 2005 08:41 PM

i love this song! :luv2

ImpactBreaker 22nd July 2005 11:42 PM

Really great. I love the pauses followed by that short guitar play, it sounds so macabre.

That's my favourite part of the song actually. I loooove it.

In this song Ayu's voice fits perfectly and the background instrumentals are awesome. I've been waiting for this for a long time. :)

Alterna... as a song... what I think?

One of her top. I'm an Ayumi fan but more of her recent work. I like the upbeat, fast songs, or something that has an element of rock and dark feeling to it.

This. By Far. Has topped off everything.

It's amazing, and I'm saddened by the fact that Alterna is being put under the Fairyland single. If Alterna was its on single, I'd buy it. 40 dollars. kthx!

Even though so far we've had the low quality, it's amazing. I wonder how it'll sound with the CD version or the higher quality... I can't wait.

lolo66 23rd July 2005 03:01 AM

it's pretty "flat-line" if you what I mean (the beats and singing), I usually don't like songs that way

but it could be the low quality of the files out there now

AyuGAME 23rd July 2005 05:23 AM

so FAR so GOOD
i love this song, one of her best rockish song.although i still love BoY more than this song..but its really fresh and new image that ayu create for us as ayu fans. and from the comment i look, the effect is GOOD...and many of us can accept it
i believe that this song will replace UNITE! in her next tour. Its has a same theme although this two song is totally different. but i think it will replace UNITE! slot...
GREAT SONG!

everlastingRAINBOW 23rd July 2005 05:29 AM

It makes me sad!!!! I watched the PV and was like.... "awwww, Ayumi was used and turned into a machine!!!" And now I am sad... really.... Does anyone think that's aimed at AVEX??? And now she's starting her own record company...
