Ayu's songs becoming repetitive?
Haven't you guys noticed that most of ayu's songs are the same. Not the lyrics but the format. Theres always an intro. then the major theme, then some singing, then the major theme with different lyrics, then sinigng, then major theme. I've noticed this in most of her songs such as Moments, Fairyland, Angel's SONG, alterna, Game, and so on. I wish she could devise some new format for her songs like "M". That was a new and clever format. Leaving the apex of the song at the end. Thats what a good song should be.
So what do you guys think, do you think most of her songs follow in the same format or not? I say Yes. |
I think they do, yes. And who could forget those long instrumental parts between the second chorus, and then the big wrap up? I agree with you AznWizKidz.

i think ayu much more creative with her music with any western singer that just rap and use a girl for a video clip...sigh...
but its nice if ayu use another method with her song..i think alterna is a good example |

yeah alterna is a bit of a change |
right now it's getting annoyingly repetative...[sorry if i get these wrong...sometimes i mix up hook and bridge but you know what i'm tlakig about >>; <<; ]
[chorus] verse hook chorus verse2 hook2 chorus [interlude] chorus(1, 2, or 3)/bridge chorus1 chorus 2 and i'm mad alterna didn't have a bridge >| just STEP you and CAROLS for her recent releases...HEAVEN better have one :( |
I totally agree. I think Ayu should go for something different...maybe more songs like 'ever free' or RAINBOW
|
Ya, she should have more Rainbow and M type of songs!
|
Well, most songs are constructed in that fashion. However, when the pattern is shook up a little bit, it does sometimes make the song more interesting. Like when I first heard "A Song for XX" I didn't understand what the chorus was, lol....maybe I was just an imbecile. But I like how it ended with something different from the chorus. It had a very dramatic effect.
|
Yep, you're right! That's why I don't like her new songs! They are almoust the same, because of construction...
|
well i think that another thing that has to do with it is the fact that she isn't composing as much as she used to. Notice that all of the songs that you think are "repetitive" weren't composed by her, and the ones you think she should do "more of" are the ones she did compose.
|
hrm...never thought about this, but i can see your point. i think the majority of popular music is composed in much the same pattern though, but i do really like when someone shakes that up a bit. :)
|
almost all songs were mixed my Koji Morimoto, so I think that's logical.. but alterna wasn't.. and it's actually different from other songs..
|
i seriously think she needs to get back to the composing. it really does make a difference when she's the one making the music too. maybe she might even pick up mixing later on.

SURREAL was one of her songs that break the tradition..and very good indeed. Her recent songs are indeed getting too repetitive (and sometimes she even used chorus 1 & 2's lyrics at the final chorus)...
I agree with her on getting more composing like the I am... singles! |
Yeah M, Rainbow, and Surreal were the only ones I really remember changing it. I don't mind it being either way. :)
|
Yup, M, Rainbow and SURREAL were great! I liked how she has this techno-tronic kind of intro at I am ... as well and those were GREAT! I agree with having more variations in her music ...
fairyland's kind of a variation ... it has an "ultra" long bridge! Haha, and alterna's quite refreshing as well! I don't know, I think Ayu's recently dropping that "high point" in her songs ... you know like SURREAL, Rainbow and M (towards the end, that jaw dropping part that makes you LOVE the song totally and brings it to a new level?) Yar, I think Ayu really needs to do that. When she did that in CAROLS, I loved it, but then subsequently she seemed to stop doing that ... so that makes me a little disappointed but I'll still love the whole song on a whole. |
Sure, her latest songs have the same arrangements. Most of HAL arrangements are alike anyway. I LOVE 'SURREAL' arrangements. You couldn't even tell if there actually was a chorus in that song. A lot of her other song have different arrangements too.
But the instrumental-chorus-verse-chorus-instrumental-verse-chorus-instrumental-chorus with different instrumental-chorus x2 is a normal, basic song arrangements. Notice almost all american singer's (Jessica, Britney, Xtina, BSB...) arrangement are also like that? |
Surreal is a nice song too much her voice is a little high pitched. But it works for me! =]
