is anyone into ORANGE RANGE?

I've noticed that no matter how popular they are in Japan ( I believe musiq is no 1 on Oricon for this year) they're not being represented on forums too much. (Correct me if I'm wrong).
So,what are your favourite songs from OR and what do you think about the new album NATURAL?

I've seen some of their videos on PopJapanTV. I liked Locolotion and Hana. =D

hehhehe, i first heard of them while I was watching Bleach. I heard of their songs Asterik and Hana. Yay, I don't heard much about them @ forums, strange ne

I do not think they are that popular amongst foreigners as they are in Japan.

gakkun 1st November 2005 11:53 AM

^ they are quite popular, just not on this forum because AHS is more female artist-centric.

I love their singles and b-sides but not really their album tracks. There's a BIG difference imo. Their album tracks sound really experimental and quirky.

Recommended: Hana, Michishirube ~a road home~, Kizuna, ishin tenshin, SP Thanx. The first 3 are singles and the last two are from musiQ.

^ I'm just speaking from what I've noticed. CDJapan's sales note that it is 5th in terms of sales after Ami Suzuki and Shimatani. And from what I've noticed from J-Pop fans overseas, they are not that popular among them as much as they are in Japan.

I don't really like or hate Orange Range but I do admit that I was rather disappointed after I saw how highly unoriginal they are.. They do have a couple of really good tracks but honestly I think they are insanely overrated in Japan.

silverain 1st November 2005 05:16 PM

Well,in a way I agree with you. I listen to Orange Range because the are fun and relaxing. Good for just jumping around. I listen to other Jpop artists as well and I like them but to be honest I don't think they are any more original than OR. In general, Jpop isn't very quality music, but which music today is? Same beats and melodies everywhere.

as many have said I too heard Orange Range first on bleach´s 2nd intro song XD
then I got Orange Range - Hana and that song was really nice ^^

ImpactBreaker 1st November 2005 09:25 PM

Well, there's a fact about ORANGE RANGE and it is not their supposedly lack of originality ( I actually think they are rather creative) but the extremely crap and annoying vocals they have. The vocalist, honestly, has a bad voice (sound like some amateur desperately screaming in a karaoke), and I'm not sure who fooled him to become a vocalist. I do think their works are getting better though, their latest singles are far much superior than the rest. Plus some of their b-sides have been rather awesome like the ones in Love parade and onegai senorita! Those b-sides kinda remind me of SUPERCAR.

Ah, their works aren't that popular outside Japan. That's not based on the AHS population. Finding their files on net isn't really that easy and I'm still looking for their shangay hanni mp3s from the single, but no luck. That kinda shows their lack of popularity outside of japan.

I can upload it for you tomorrow if you like

ImpactBreaker 2nd November 2005 03:14 AM

eally? do you have the whole singlE? I would appreciate it ! thanks ;)

Raleigh 2nd November 2005 01:27 PM

Yeah as I was pointing out they're not popular overseas as some artists like BoA, Ayu and Hikki are. All have tons of websites/forums dedicated to them while OR only have a handful. The unoriginal part.. I read it from some articles. There was also some argument over their single Asterix. I forgot the sources though so..x.x

I don't have the whole single, here are the links for the first track <Shanghai Honey> and forth <Shanghai honey ~Shanghai style~> . Second track <New Tokyo Machine> is still being downloaded to my computer, and I couldn't find the third track.Hope you're not dissapointed. I do have most of their songs, maybe not some remixes and other singles tracks, so if anyone wants something else...

The only songs of theirs that I like are Hana and Locolotion. Onegai senorita bugged me a LOT, as does most of their music. I guess they're okay, but I don't know why they're so popular. I haven't heard their newest album yet, so hopefully it's good!

Oh I thought you had posted links for the first and second track of the single >.< my mistake, sorry, I must pay more attention the next time LOL Thank you ;)

silverain 3rd November 2005 03:03 PM

ha,ha..onegai senorita bugged me a bit too,but only because of a woman voice in the song that is saying something in FRENCH when the song title is obviously SPANSIH...

*Petit* 3rd November 2005 10:58 PM

I Haven't found any of their songs interesting enough to listen to a lot. I must admit I thought locolotion was fun for a while though. I guess they're not my type of band.

I'm wondering how they rose to fame? Does anybody know?
