How to clean CDs?

Recently my copy of (miss)understood has begun to skip, but only on one song towards the middle ... alterna! This makes me angry since I just got my CD on the 9th and there isn't a smudge or scratch on it! I tried wiping it with kleenex and it still skips! Please help me out on how to fix this problem or I am going to have to buy a new one!!

maybe its an issue with your player.
did you try this with different CD's?

sidenote: this is one of the reasons why I dont use my original CD's, but copy them right away and put them in the shelves ^^

It started skipping in my stereo once and it skips in my walkman too so it must be the CD...

Yeah, I did the same with MY STORY (copied it and used that one instead), lol!

my (miss) understood has been doing very light skipping as well. I'm afraid to clean the disk cause i might ruin it more. I'm waiting for my mom to be me an mp3 player so i can transfer it there.

Uh, I heard that sometimes new CDs need to get stratched a little. Just a little. Just like for a violin, the rosin(sp?) needs to be rough in order to rosin the violin bow. Yeah, I play it and I don't even know how to spell rosin. Haha. Sad. Oh well. But yeah, um...when I clean my CDs, I just rub it on my shirts real hard to wipe out the really small smudges we probably don't see. I've done this to a movie and another CD, and it worked good afterwards.

really? cd needs scratches?? this is new to me... I just know scratches lead to the death of the disc eventually..

oh well all my jpn version cds never have scratch even i played them for over 5 years.

anime_fanatic21: if this is the only cd you get this problem, probly it's not about the player... why dun you ask for an exchange of the cd?

I bought a cloth for cleaning CDs at an electronics store. It's for removing dust.

im so glad i got my iPOD for my birthdy.....

Whenever we had DVDs that started skipping, we'd flush them down the toilet. No joke! (clean toilet) It would swirl around getting a good wash with the toilet water, not go down the hole cause it's too big, then when the water's all flushed out for a sec, grab it and voila! Clean CD. Make sure the toilet has been flushed before you try this at home, kids. And dont lick the CD afterwards.

Sweer 15th January 2006 12:11 AM

^ewww, thats still gross :dead2
but isnt there always this mark on the cd packaging telling you not to clean it using water?

Raleigh 15th January 2006 12:15 AM

O_o flush it..

cleftjuston 15th January 2006 01:06 AM

i didn't know cds needed scratches to work perfectly

lotusoka 15th January 2006 01:27 AM

Using kleenex or paper towels to clean a CD isn't good...

paper is made out of wood.

use cloth.

I hate IPODs and mp3 players! I carry my CDs everywhere and listen to them in the car and in my house and my friends houses when I want others to hear it. I couldn't imagine always having to listen to your songs on a player and not in a stereo or at someone elses house...

Corybobory 15th January 2006 04:38 AM

^ you just listed all the reasons we have ipods lol

what? So you can't listen in the car or have your friends listen?

Corybobory 15th January 2006 04:47 AM

you can easily, there's an extension to play them in your car and and an extension so if you set it on a stereo it registers that isnt too expensive
