i think its so annoying that most of the artists aren't even FROM japan. i dunno...it just irks me. :shrug

Maybe because Western music is popular in Japan too. That why they are nominated.

Most of the artists nominated have been fairly well going in the oricon, so it's not totally off. But compared to the per centage of sales, they're over-represented.

hmm seems like lots of hiphop inspired nominees ... i wonder what everyone will do when japanese music goes heavy into hiphop instead of pop

I dislike the fact that there are so many American artists up there for nomination. I know that they are popular and all.. but seriously. I'm just glad to see that some of my favorite artists are AT LEAST up there.

When will the award show be aired in Japan? I hope Koda Kumi wins Best Female & BuzzAsia, Ketsume (ketsumeishi??) wins Best Video, Ayu wins Best Pop Video and GLAY X Exile wins Best Collabo Video. Anyone knows who will be the guest performer for this year award show? I watched VMAJapan last year, not too entertaining, hope this year will be much better.

I'm surprised Ayu didn't have more nominations. Some of her work this year definitely deserved them.

I'm hoping the Americans don't win at all. After all, this is the JAPAN VMAs, and Japanese identity is supposedly still very strong. Would be quite a travesty if American music dominates every other awards show there is, because music is certainly more diverse than that.
