Do you think PV's should be shown after release date?

Well after watching the newest Ayu PV, my excitement for the PV disappeared. I usually have this excitiment when a PV is about to be shown. But then after that, i lose that excitment and not care about the song or PV anymore. I think by not showing the PV before the release date can create suspense to all those AYU fans. I think by showing the PV after the release date can also increase sales because people will go buy them to let that suspense go away. Sometime, people won't buy a single or album because they heard it before the release date. So i think that by posponing the airing date of the PV date can help boast some record sales and more suspense to the listener.

What do you guys think?

it really depends on the quality of the pv. I didn't really like evolution when I first heard the live mp3. Then the pv came out I was totally in love with the song. Same goes to HANABI~episode II~. I hated the song in the beginning.. end up being one of my fav songs becuase of the pv. So.... if the pv is excellent, it really boosts up the desire to buy the single.

Well... they're actually to promote the song/single, like airing the song on radio... Airing the song on radio or airing the PVs on the tv after the single release is a bit pointless...

They have to show it, at least a day before the release... so that ppl can get used to the song and maybe get to like it. I didn't like BLUE BIRD at first, but then it grew on me.

It's one of the best ways to promote a single, it doesn't matter if the PV is good or not, as long as you make people see there's a new release coming.

Getting the name out to the people is important.

No. Think about it.

PV = Promotional Video = promotion = sales

No PV = no promotion = no sales ... well not for Ayu xD

/pokes at Audience and NEVER EVER and UNITE!

Dustie 10th June 2006 11:07 PM

Yeah... no PV is like... no song at all, no release <- that's how it looks.

bluegie 10th June 2006 11:28 PM

i guess pvs are quite important nowadays. Back in A, AUDIENCE, H, etc... even if there were no pvs at all for those singles, the singles still survived and got high sales. Now the fans (us? LOL) are greedy.. if there's no DVD on the CDs (esp albums), probly we won't buy it LOL.

It depends, if a good pv is being aired on tv, people will kept seeing it and be tempt to buy the single. but not playing it, there will be less people who will notice the song. so i guess, pvs should be aired before release. thuogh, it might backfire due to a horrible pv

alternarist 11th June 2006 08:02 AM

haha. it doesnt matter if its shown before or after the release date. if the PV sucks, it will remain sucky forever. and also. the purpose of showing the PV is to sorta provide some preview of the single.

Like the others said, the PV is to promote the song, most people don't come to forums like this one and get hyped about the single, most people see the PV or hear it on the radio to learn about it. We are probably the minority that have been counting down the days the last few months for this single.

Very, very true.

Well PV stands for Promotion Video, so the whole point of having one is to promote the single. Besides, there are good songs that come with crappy PVs, and crappy songs that have good PVs.
