Largest arena Performance and filming during tours...

I really want to go see Ayu's tour next year and would like to know which arena is the largest one she performs at. Is it the final performace? Also, is the final performance where the footage for the tour DVD is recorded? I would like to attend the recorded one, lol... Thanks!

The Saitama Arena is the largest one, holding 17000~people.

Yoyogi Stadium is the one for the final performances, holding 12000~people.

Yes, the DVD footage is always from the final performances and on recent tours, aswell as CountDown Lives, it has always been held at Yoyogi Stadium.

Osaka Jo-Hall is pretty big too, as I recall. I heard it's around 15,000ppl.

It was at Saitama, the full name of the arena is "Super Saitama Arena".

I think it's the biggest indoors arena in central Tokyo, or is Tokyo Dome indoors aswell?

I heard that X-Japans farewell concert held 80,000 people in Tokyo Dome.

ayu_fan929 17th June 2006 05:14 AM

^Tokyo Dome is indoors. But I thought it could only hold like 55-60,000 ppl?

andre2907 17th June 2006 05:44 AM

Tokyo Dome is outdoor and indoor. For concerts they close the celling (this affect the sound but they have to do this because of the neighborhood). And Tokyo Dome capacity is a little less than 50.000. The X number was probably lots of concerts (not only one).

Oh, and Saitama Super Arena is a MOVING arena. That means the city capacity can be from 5.000 to 25.000.

i think her concert at tokyo stadium was the biggest one

Tokyo DOME is a DOME so she wouldn't perform one of her ARENA tour concerts there.

Back in 2001 she was the only artist at solo-status who could fill up 4 full domes (her 2001 dome tour) :D

alternarist 17th June 2006 09:12 AM

^ wow. that's rather remarkable. now i noe why she doesnt perform her ARENA TOURs in domes. lol.

but wats the purpose of having a concert in a dome with so many people. i can only see Ayu as a tiny little ant. XD

SunshineSlayer 17th June 2006 09:29 AM

Yeah, Saitama is the largest Arena. I think the arenas in Osaka and Yokohama are second. But if you can see Ayu at a smaller venue, that's even better.

Yeah, the smaller the arena the closer you get to her and the cheaper you can get tickets :).

I don't think there is any real relation between the "types" of places she performs and names of the tours. After all, she had "Concert Tour 2000" which was held at the same places, but they didn't call it "Arena" yet. It was derived from the domes "era" probably. Plus, not all of the places are called "Arenas" -- Yoyogi for example is a stadium, yet, she didn't held "Stadium Tour" performance in it, she helds "Arena Tour" performances there...

And I think Dome Tour was 6 domes... I wonder why they didn't do another dome tour. Could it be she so doesn't want to bring back the memories from that time (ear loss danger)?...

BTW, the Tokyo Dome is freakin' biiig! I was stunned when I first saw Dome Tour CMs. I couldn't believe how big this thing is....

alternarist 17th June 2006 07:24 PM

^ i thought it was called "Stadium Tour" because the stadiums were open air?

Well then they should have called it "Open Air Stadium Tour", shouldn't they?... I'm saying the tour names don't always have to match names of the stages.

Because she can't sell out a dome anymore...

She was the only female artist. Masaharu Fukuyama also did a sold-out dome tour in 2001.

haah. sorry. my point is that the whole purpose of having a Stadium Tour is to have an open air concert. isnt it? Arenas are not open aired right?

The reason is that avex probably doesn't dare to, her concerts does sell out, but filling the Domes is not easy for a solo artist. As has been mentioned, Ayu is the only female artist to ever have managed to fill the four domes.

This makes me wonder because, I think it was according to SunshineSlayer, on the performance at Saitama this year Ayu said she had never performed infront of that many people, and it was 'only' 17000. As was also mentioned earlier in this thread, Tokyo Dome can take atleast 50,000 people.

Ah... well I don't know what their purpose was actually... it's Stadium becouse those were stadiums, maybe not in the name, but they obviously looked like and were stadiums... oh sorry, some of the performances were just outside in fact... I dunno, I got lost! I'm just saying she could held Arena Tour even in a place called "Dome" or "Stadium", it doesn't have to be "Arena xxxx" or "xxxx Arena".

BTW, do other J-pop artists use the name "Arena Tour"?...

I remember when I've first heard "Arena Tour" (and I think it was about Ayumi's concerts, not earlier) I thought "Oh, it must be Arena becouse the perfromances are sorta like in a theater, with changing sets/decorations, costumes and everything..." Dunno why the word "arena" reminds me of theater stage so much... ><

Well, I don't know about the capacity, but it sure looks big and it seemed full... and that's what they said after all, that she filled them up on solo status, as the only female. Really don't know about the numbers. Maybe 17000 was the record number of ppl attending an Arena Tour performance?
