[2006] Complete Weekly Sales Data for some Ayu albums..

I don't know if this is considered as news or not, feel free to move this thread. It's the complete weekly sales for some Ayu albums, which some of us might have looked for. I know I did.

I find it amazing that the album charted for several years. Astonishing. But I don't understand the fact that it was off charts for 42 weeks after being out of the top 100. Does that mean Oricon did not start displaying sales from #101 to #300 until the year 2003?

And this album debuted with sales of (miss)understood multiplied by two. Scary. In a good way. Didn't chart as long as A BEST but damn, it's amazing.

This one charted a lot less and sold less but when compared to today's artists, it's still crazy. I ordered my copy!

Yeah, A BALLADS. Rumoured to be a million copies presently, it's possible. But it sold this much while it charted. There you have it.

The first mini-album to reach 1 million copies and probably the only one. Extremely long chart life too.

All credits to UKMIX forums... Thank god for google too. I was looking for Mika's LEGEND first week sales and got all these. Never got LEGEND's though. Until ~K+ came along. He's a good fella.

truehappiness 4th August 2006 05:01 PM

I wonder what the odd surges in sales were caused by.. possibly concerts? :O

hallelujah_united 4th August 2006 05:06 PM

OMFG statto. :eviltongu

Where do you get all these info from anyway?

ayu_fan929 4th August 2006 05:08 PM

truehappiness: Concerts, new single/album releases etc.

So the 'official' number for A BALLADS is still below 1 million. I know people have said that Oricon confirmed A BALLADS was a million seller, but can someone please find the thread/news about that. I can't seem to find it.

Like A BEST, where the tiny sales suddenly spiked up to 16,000 the next week. Maybe concerts or TV spots? Or dome tours?

If Ayu can debut at 500k+ and keep stable sales from there decreasing by about 30% a week.. then she could hit a million with the next album. I foresee that happening if she has good covers and promotion :]

thanks for the numbers MC ;)

No, Duty is still missing. Like LOVEppears.

Thanks!!!!!

Quite thorough, thanks MC!

wow..it's hard to believe that some of these albums sold over a million in one week yet (miss)understood can't do it in several months :(.

She have good promotion. And good covers aren't as important as people think, I mean, Loveppears doesn't have a good cover and it's her best-selling original album. Seasons is her best-selling a-side single, A is her best-selling single. Did they have anything special on their covers? No!

What she needs: good music. People don't like the music Ayu is making now.

Anyway, I don't think her next album will cross the 1 million mark.

immel 4th August 2006 09:20 PM

ugh... let's go back to those first week million sales days.

truehappiness 4th August 2006 09:20 PM

I think that it was a bad decision to sell (m)u after Christmas ;D They could've gotten a lot of sales then :] I wonder how much a few weeks' difference could make in sales..

I think that's pretty wrong, by simply looking at the stats presented here each week... :).
