what about the old j-rockers? like Luna Sea (aka lunacy).

samuraiDRIVE 2nd April 2003 06:19 PM

Yaiko (Yaida Hitomi), Gackt, Aikawa Nanase, Hitomi, Do As Infinity (DUH!), The Brilliant Green, Dragon Ash (Are they rock or rap?), Malice Mizer, Porno Graffitti... umm... I think there's a couple more... heh.

Biscuitgirl 2nd April 2003 08:40 PM

Gee, are DAI, Hitomi, and The Brilliant Green considered Jrock, too? I didn't realize! I love them too!

N8 Dawg 2nd April 2003 10:22 PM

Nanase Aikawa
X-Japan
Guitar Vader

RAWK OOOON

samuraiDRIVE 2nd April 2003 10:59 PM

I would say they were. I mean, they don't fit in the same category as say, Ayumi, BoA, Kumi Koda, Namie Amuro, or Utada Hikaru. I've seen a lot of websites say that Van Tomiko's voice is more mid-rock. I've always considered Hitomi J-rock.

I don't know, I guess it's just where you look. Heh.

paper_doll 2nd April 2003 11:15 PM

NANASE AIKAWA!!!!!!

Aikawa nanase.

dai

hitomi

ayu_ready78 3rd April 2003 01:20 AM

LUNA SEA, X Japan, Gackt, and Aikawa Nanase. All are very good artists/groups or use to be.

ImpactBreaker 3rd April 2003 01:21 AM

Aikawa Nanase, The brilliant Green, Siam Shade, Do as infinity.

I also like hitomi a lot but I don't consider her really a JROCK singer. She has a lot of POP songs also: IS IT YOU?, WHY?, INNER CHILD, Plastic Time Machine, flow, etc Also most of her older stuff (songs from before and that weren't included in the Thermo Plastic Album) are very poppish and they represent almost half of her discography. I do agree she has a lot of cool rockish songs though. So I would consider her like Ayu is. They make both balanced with Rock songs and POP songs.

I also liked 2 songs from Shiina Ringo that Grant sent to me: "Can't take my eyes off of you" and especially "momen no handkerchief" Very very good. I heard other 3 songs from her but didn't like them as much...if only I knew some more great songs from her.

I also like some songs from LUNA SEA: Mainly "Desire", "In Silence", "True Blue" and "Gravity"

js_surrealism 3rd April 2003 01:29 AM

Hehe, I think I've gotta be the most hardcore Shena Ringo fan around here ^^;;
Btw, Momen no handkerchief isn't a Ringo original, it's a cover of a song by Oota Yumi, some pop singer waaay back in the 70's ^^;;

If you like rock, I'd recommend songs like "honnou" (with a cool pv too) and "GIBUSU" and maybe "tsumi to batsu"

She seems to have steered abit off rock recently to do some more experimental sorta music in her latest album, so if you are into stuff like jazz, go listen to "mayonaka wa junketsu", the pv of the song is also my fave jpop pv so far ^^;;
