ayu never accepts awards again?

yes, i read the wikipedia article, yet this is still very confusing for me.
wouldn't it be very bad for ayu's career if she doesn't accept awards anymore? or was it only this specific award show, she already won 2 (or 3?) times in a row?

either way, what purpose does it have?

thank you

AyUmIXx 23rd May 2007 03:20 PM

i wish she could win something ..

JinHamasaki 23rd May 2007 11:32 PM

She no longer accepts the Japan Record Award that is given every December.

She's won it three times in a row, no one has ever won it more than twice, even.

She still accepts the Golden Disc awards given by the the RIAJ, but it doesn't seem like she performs for it anymore.

sora2522 24th May 2007 12:43 AM

it was because of a huge fight between max and someone else (i think his name was yoda?)
it says in the wiki article

evolution7931 24th May 2007 01:36 AM

Apparently, and I'm not sure of this at all, but what I read was like.. max and that guy had that battle thing.. and Max won.. so to like congratulate him the Taisho people were gonna award the prize to Ayu for Moments in 2004 and Ayu heard about it or something and she didn't like that because it wasn't fair and if she was gonna win an award she wanted it to be because the music deserved it.. or somethign. So she refused to accept any more awards from them or something?

there's your answer

That's wikipedia.. I mean.. Wikipedia can't be trusted. Anyone could have written that.. And the "source" is some sketchy French magazine that also has like no source

ayu_fan929 24th May 2007 02:55 AM

I don't think the avex "war" had a lot/anything to do with Ayu not accepting anymore Grand Record Taishou's. I think it was mainly because she had already won it 3 times in a row and she just got tired of winning it/(as mentioned) wanted to give other people the chance.

devilayu 24th May 2007 03:39 AM

There's no basis in the Wikipedia entry regarding why she won't accept the Japan Record Award. There are several rumored reasons but there is no official one.

sitara 24th May 2007 11:15 AM

so she still accepts awards, that's good to hear.
but the company incident and the award thing seem to be 2 different things. wiki says "because of that" (meaning the fight)

Kodayumi 24th May 2007 11:40 AM

I hope she's still recieving them. She deserves them :D

yamogi 25th May 2007 07:48 AM

She doesn't accept any awards (actually it's that she doesn't PARTICIPATE anymore) now except those related to sale since that award (gold disc) doesn't require participation. They just give it you if you have the highest sale of that year.

Some additional information:
For Japaneses artists, awards don't really matter in their career. Many top artists don't receive any awards throughout their whole music career (especially those who are really big)

as much as i want ayu to appear glamourously on stage to receive awards, i dont think ayu will do so. i am sure ayu noes what she is doing. cos as long as her songs reach her fans, she doesnt need awards as a form of recognition..

Well the people at the Record Taishou say that Ayu was never in the running for 2004....

sitara 25th May 2007 02:57 PM

so she really doesn't accept them anymore.
because of the fight at avex?
that's kinda shocking for me, still.

slowmoth 25th May 2007 08:46 PM

I think that's a fact of her low selling products (low selling compared to ayu's 2001 products) some fans could thinks that they don't need to buy the album to support ayu because she already peaked as top/best artist.

ayu_ready? 1st June 2007 10:47 PM

maybe she doesn't need it anymore?
like, she's mature & lost interest in it?
I mean, in much competition...

anyway, now she even doesn't participate/get prize at my favs! :(:

best jeanist
best sunglass wearer (I remember she got smth like that in 2001-2002)
nailqueen

now Kumi's everywhere)

Kikaru 2nd June 2007 12:04 AM

Best Jeanist she's in the hall of fame, so she can't participate in it anymore (I think she won it like five years in a roll or something).

Others I don't know, so it's probably something happened that no one will ever gets to find out what really happened.

Chibi_Venus 2nd June 2007 12:47 AM

I'm personally glad that she gave up/doesn't participate in awards anymore. It could mean that she thinks, "I'm the best and I don't need an award to prove it," but I have a small hunch that she's thinking of other artists out there. Maybe it's not even about being the best. It could be that she may feel that other people will get so tired of her getting awards, and we all know how Ayu is about always wanting her fans to be excited, you know?

That's all just assumption though. I'm not calling it official. ;)

It's a good thing of her to stop accepting awards (because of the feud). I'd rather that than, "Well, I'll show you how successful I can be!" You know?

All in favor of not trusting Wikipedia? *raises hand*
