I'm surprised nobody has mentioned B'z yet. They've been around for awhile (20 years actually), but I think their music is still great. Inaba Koshi's voice is strong and unique.

I prefer his ballads, though his rock songs are pretty good...Not to mention he's hot too! His Diablos album has my favorite ballad by him...[Todokanai ai to shite----] it's got a super long title, but the song is absolutely stunning to me.

Their Japanese album sucked terribly, but their Korean album was amazing. Since you like Tohoshinki (though you might not be into K-pop...?_?) they were a good introduction for me to Korean music.
