'For my Dear'; Have you guys ever noticed...?

Is it just me, or does it seriously sound like Ayu's off-key in some parts?
I was just listening to the 'A Song for XX' album last night, and when 'For my Dear' came on and I was listening to it closely, I realized Ayu sounded pretty off-key in some parts. Here's the segments where I thought she sounded off:

(The highlighted parts are where she sounded out of tune.)

"yume ni mita shiawase wa..."
-From the second stanza.

"te ni irete shimaeba kondo wa
ushinau kowasa osou kara"
-Also from the second stanza.

"da kara tte warikireru kurai
ningen tte kantan demo nai"
-Third stanza.

"shimite kite totemo itaku tte"
-From the fourth stanza. This one was the worst IMO.

"samishisa ga jibun o tsukurou"
-From the fifth stanza.

"hitori kiri naritakunai kara"
-Also from the fifth stanza.

--So it was mainly the words she'd cut off on...and I don't know if this was Avex's purpose, but I must say those notes sounded pretty sour for something that was intended, and yes, I know that Ayu was not a very strong singer back then. It just seems strange that if this was not meant to come out this way, then why did Avex let it slide? :shrug
Well anyways, what's your take on this you guys? Do you think these parts are off-key?

Oh and here's a link to listen to the song if you want to listen for these parts:

And the lyrics just in case lol:

ichiban ni iitai kotoba dake ienakute
kono uta o utatte iru no ka mo shirenai

yume ni mita shiawase wa
tsukamu made ga ichi ban ii
te ni irete shimaeba kondo wa
ushinau kowasa osou kara

da kara tte warikireru kurai
ningen tte kantan demo nai

dare mo ga kizu wo motte
iru kara toki ni yasashisa ga
shimite kite totemo itaku tte
naki dashisou ni nattari suru

samishisa ga jibun o tsukurou
hitori kiri naritakunai kara
watashi ni wa anata ga iru kara
heiki to omotte nemuri ni tsukitai

itsu no hi ka iitai kotoba dake iesou de
uta o utaitsudsukete iku no ka mo shiranai

ichi ban ni kikitai kotoba dake kikenakute
hito o suki ni nattari suru no ka mo shirenai

It sounds just fine to me. :|

I'd say her voice is just a bit shaky there, but it's like that with almost all ASFXX songs..

Coelacanth 15th March 2008 09:11 PM

I think it's just that the melody of the song is very dull. The melody doesn't even sound resolved.

reixminako 16th March 2008 04:30 AM

Yeah...that song always sounded pretty off-key to me. It could be Ayu and the arrangement as well...I don't know.

Zachery! 16th March 2008 04:37 AM

All the ASFXX songs are like this, kinda.

for my dear... is just the all time low on being off key.

but

watch it performed live
she sounds perfect.

i think avex did it on purpose. X__X

"shimite kite totemo itaku tte" was the worst but overall it sounded pretty ok :shrug

Catzi 17th March 2008 03:03 AM

I think it's pretty okay. Her older voice is just so squeaky that most of her songs are like this from that time.

ayumisrael 17th March 2008 03:15 AM

I think that it's strange that there is a possibility to be off-key on an original song, I think that the key's just meant to be like ayu sang.

nomizo31 21st March 2008 08:16 AM

thats the song. its not a "usual" vocal acompanyment. i like it - it is that very parts of the song that made me ayu fan. i heard the song and deleted bcos so off key and then days later i was humming it and search for crazy for that song again adn the rest is history hahaha

love it

Well it IS a really old song, so the composition might've not been the most top-notch back then.

eh ? what's the difference between a song written 10 years ago and today ?

Have you ever heard of "Clasical music" ? or "Baroque" era ? "Romantic" era ? etc etc ?

She can't be off key in a studio version, LOL. That's the melody. (yes, music requires a melody..... try telling Britney Spears' producer that)

Those eras sound nothing like music today xD!

I still can't find a melody in Danity Kane's new song "Damaged" :no

SunshineSlayer 22nd March 2008 06:35 AM

I must be one of the few people that love this song. :)

Choyan 22nd March 2008 07:05 AM

it's probably her vocal tone ... like how her voice sounds like with that note, because if you don't care about the music in the background it's ok.

I actually think the song is very nice...it's just there's something funky going on with the vocals IMO :shrug

hayasaki 23rd March 2008 08:50 AM

iT soUnds just good to me... =)

Tasked 23rd March 2008 10:22 AM

Annoying? yes! Off-key? Nope... it's just the way the composition is, and the fact that Ayu's voice in this song is hell annoying.

KuroixShiroi_Namida 23rd March 2008 11:36 AM

The song sounds ok. I guess it's just like that.

che0173 6th April 2008 07:12 AM
