Do you know if someone is korean, japanese, or chinese?
Well, the other "can you tell the difference between languages" is too easy, so this is another, can you look at an artist without looking at their name or listening to them and know what country they're from?
I was confused last summer in Taiwan watching SIGNAL by KAT-TUN, I wasn't exposed to a lot of Asian music as I am now, so I thought they were Korean, but after watching their style, i kinda thought they were Japanese and I was right! and the fact the announcer guy for MTV said, coming up is japanese boy group KAT TUN lol *cross fingers and remember the poll this time* oh and I'm just sticking with these 3 groups, cause adding other south asian countries would be just @_@... |
Hmm, for boy bands it pretty easy to tell the difference but for girls its pretty hard. But I can tell if its a Chinese person a mile away cause I'm part Chinese XD.
it's very easy to find the differences.. maybe because i live in asia so i know what's different among 3 languages
Well, if it's on TV, I can usually tell by the way they dress, since especially between Koreans and the Japanese, the style is extremely different. On the street though, as normal people, probably not.
^ yeah same here... But on T.V i'ts pretty easy to tell
i can tell the differences because the facial structure is different :)
^They are different, right?
People usually think I'm Chinese-looking, but I'm actually Japanese and French-Canadian. I just look more Asian and apprently it's more Chinese looking Asian. |
Sometimes I can but a lot of the time it's really hard for me.
Haha I picked the last option because it's a lot like what I said in what of your other threads :P
Umm...I have to hear them speak their native language first. For awhile I thought I could tell them apart but then some Chinese looked Japanese to me <.< >.>...But I have the same problem with Europeans as well. So it's nothing against Asians :no |
^ lol i put that last option for you! i think korean men have darker skin compared to other asians
Anyone who thinks you can ALWAYS tell the difference between Korean/Japanese/Chinese is crazy... there has been so much intermixing between the three countries that many people look ambiguous. My Japanese friends say they can never tell a Korean person from another Japanese, in particular.
IMO it depends lol. Some of them like look so similar but their facial structures are different. I sometimes have trouble differentiating between Japanese and Koreans but i think Koreans have white skins? iunno lol.
But living in an Asian suburb and going to a 95% Asian school i can easily tell the difference between Chinese and Vietnamese people :mini! |
Vietnamese women are really short and they have massively high heels!
I always have a hard time figuring out if are they japanese/korean/chinese physically, but usually when I hear them speak i can tell. like example, we have a lot of international students at our college... this spring, japanese tudents were registering for classes and i overheard them talking but i couldn't make out what he said, but in the end he said, "toire", or toilet :P i thought to myself, ah he's japanese and going to the bathroom :P, because as soon as he said that, he left in a hurry XD

It's not really easy.
Looking at actors/actress is easier than singers. I can guess which actors/actress are Japanese, Korean or Chinese because they have a certain look. Plus, the are dressed normally and natural too. But when it comes to artists, they have mixed style and all that stuff and it can be confusing. Koreans are most of the time different. Chinese and Japanese people can look alike. |
I can tell the difference for Japanese and Korean bands. The vocals, vibe, style, & and some facial expressions.
Country borders do not dilineate different 'looks' of human... this is actually a ridiculous question. It's like asking "Can you tell the difference between a French, German or Dutch person?" There is not a genetic 'type' of Japanese Korean or Chinese person, so anyone who says they can tell the difference without looking for cues like language is kidding themselves. Unless there are definite cultural syles of clothing or something that gives a clue, there is no way to tell what country a person is from by just looking at their face.
Chinese I can, Korean and Japanese is a bit hard unless they speak.
I grew up with Koreans (I'm less then 25%) so I can tell the difference between Koreans and other Asians. But thats about it lol
I can usually tell by the eyes & faces, and I can tell the difference between the way Chinese, Japanese & Korean sounds.
