Is Ayu really the J-Pop Queen ?
 

Is Ayu really the J-Pop Queen ? she has many sales but Utada has much more or not ?
i was watching the sales from Ayu and Utada . And now i didnt know where better is ?!

Of course she is(IMO)!

I don't think she is anymore.

Hikki sells/has sold more, but who the queen is based on sound is up to opinion~

Ayu still has the highest total sales of any Japanese solo female artist, so to call her the 'queen' wouldn't be an overstatement in my opinion..

It depends on your own opinion who you think is better.
I think Ayu is better than Utada, though Utada has higher sales. So for me Ayu is still the Queen of J-Pop.

Well, the announcer on Music Station did call her "her majesty Hamasaki Ayumi" when she performed talkin' 2 myself on Sept. 14 '07. I guess a lot of people still consider her queen.

I'd say yes, her sales are still very good!

of course she is! she has promotion non stop. does hikki release albums as fast as she does? also her public image is huuuge! she is a trendsetter and fashion leader. i got the feeling hikki is more the girl next door, right?

The Japanese (most and people who don't hate her) refer to her as the queen of j-pop, still so yes.

Btw ayu is the best selling female and solo japanese singer (due to oricon) so no other womem sold more than her (and at the moment not even close).
seiko matsuda is the 2nd best selling solo female japanese singer.

And I agree that ayu is the best-selling female artist in Japan.. Hikki's albums sell like hotcakes but it's not the point. It includes all records(singles,albums,DVD etc.)I think her albums are only ones that solds millions of copy.. And ayu had released so many records than Hikki so ayu got the higher sale.

But if other people say that she's not anymore..it doesn't matter to me.. I love her because of what she gives me and not because of her title or thrown or public fame.

ayu too sold millions, I disagree with the released more statement =P

kumi has almost the same amount of albums and singles like ayu (well less 3 albums and 1-2 singles) and kumi sold just around 10 million until now whereas ayu 46,500,000 =P
So it's not enough having a lot of releases, they also have to sell really high ^_^.

higher sales doenst show the quality of the singer. I think Namie still the queen of Jpop because from my country, almost all people I've asked that they know who ayu is and they only know Ayu

For me, both Ayu & Hikki are queens of J-pop
About who sold more, Ayu surpasses Hikki in total numbers since she has released much more albums and singles, but Hikkis average of each separate release is way higher than Ayu's

i think ayu is, but saying someone is a queen or not is just an opinion, so if you think she is, then she is ^^, if you think she isn't, then she isn't

Well, for me it's Utada. It's just based on your own liking. Ayu comes in second though :)

Utada cds seem to sell more however her popularity has gone down faster than ayu's.Heart station is Utada's fifth japanese studio album and it sold,to my understanding,about 974,317 in japan.In ayu's case her fifth studio album Rainbow sold,to my understaniding,almost 2 million copies.While ayu's latest album,Guilty, sold less than Utada's latest album it still sold a lot for a nine studio album when japanese people are said to be rather tired of Ayu.Maybe you guys dont undertsand were I'm coming from but I think that Utada's popularity has gone down rather fast if we are taking sales wise even if she does seem to sell more.

However forgeting about the sales and everything personally Ayu is the Queen to me.:D
