Ripping CD's in 320kbps?

Hello All!

I was wondering if someone could help me with ripping CD's... I know how to I think, but I have a couple of questions.

I've noticed a lot of you guys rip your CD's as 320kbps bit rate, the highest quality, right? Well I use iTunes to 'import' music from my CD's into iTunes and when I check that tab thingo in iTunes to check the bit rate it shows up as 128kbps? I was wondering if I was doing something wrong? If there was a different way to do it? Or am I even 'ripping' the music so to speak?

Well, you can use Windows Media Player to rip the music from your CDs. You can adjust the bit rate settings from 48kbps all the way to 320 kbps. Hope that helps. :)

^ yup & to add onto what Jia Rong mentioned , you can even decide what song format you want as well

you just go to Rip -> More Options & under it you can see Rip Settings & you can adjust the kpbs & also whether you want the songs to be in wma or mp3

In iTunes, this is what I do:

Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Importing -> Import Using: MP3 Encoder -> Setting: Custom -> Stereo bit rate: 320

Thats what I do too. I just take everything on that menu and set it to the highest quality it can go

Oh and I was wondering if you guys knew how to rip DVD's?

You'll have to look for a program to DL to rip DVDs. :)
I use some program called...Toast? Toaster? I don't know LOL my teacher gave it to me, and I don't even rip DVDs very often anyway.

I use a program called... DVD Decrypter... (I think?) to rip DVDs. And then I use AutoGK to convert them from VOB to AVI format. :) They're both completely free.

Here is a nice guide for ripping music with a small program called CDex with LAME encoding. Best program for ripping if you asked me.

actually the default settings for iTunes (128 AAC) is equivalent to a normal 256kbps mp3 format(at least that's what I think anyway)
is still quite good quality but if you want better in sounds
try the program
