Mirrorcle World, Days & GREEN Connection
I'm sorry if there already was a topic like this.
I've got my copies of Days/GREEN & GREEN/Days and after watching them (yep they are both absolutely fantastic:love) I've noticed a little connection between them. In Mirrorcle World she's singin': "Do you go with the flow or want to stop it?" And in GREEN we can directly see it (I remember there was more detailed analysis of GREEN PV on the forum) her walking in one direction and crowd in against her. In GREEN you could say that she's singin' the same: The brilliant trees standing in the cool air Also in both Mirrorcle World & Days she's saved by her friends in the end. Oh, and in GREEN & Mirrorcle World she's showing us that she's keep going forward by her own way. I'd be happy if you'll share your thoughts about this question. :D And if there some other connections that I didn't noticed... yet...:rolleyes |
That's certainly interesting! I wonder if there are more connections - it would be lovely, considering they're her 10th anniversary songs :)
I'll watch them all again soon! |
Hmm wow its sounds interesting.
I kind of feel like its more like a coincidence then a real meaning, but you can never know. Either way we can have the feeling that they are connected. ^^ And not only as her 10th anni singles. |
Hahahaha, i don't realize that..
Very good analysis!!! |
That's interesting but I think its just a coincidence. Oh well.^^
|
The GREEN and Mirrorcle World PV's both feature stupid facial expressions by Ayumi, now THAT is a connection (HARHARHAHRAHR Sarcasm)
|
Maybe it's just my imagination, but I think she was trying to show us (with all three videos) that it's getting difficult for her to walk this road. It's like people don't understand her like before (In MW it's just obvious thnx to the lyrics, and I think it's not only about her ex-boyfriend), don't want to understand or don't even care. I don't know.:P That's just my IMO.:innocent

Looking at the lyrics in Mirrorcle World, it's quite simple in their meaning. Summarizing, including both first and second verses and the first chorus, "Did you imagine this future? Did you? Did I hope for this future? Did you? Can I accept this era? Can you? They asked is this the beginning or the end? They asked if I gave up, or still holding on? Have you turned on them, or are you in despair? Didn't you tell me just to go forward?" To really understand this song, I think you have to look to the song that was couple with Mirrorcle World, not YOU, but: "Depend on you" If we go back to the lyrics of Depend on you, lets summarize ~ "Do you realize how far the goal you set out is? Where should you go, and what should we do with these days that don't end? It's okay to rest your wings, because I'm here. If you are going to fly away, if that day comes, let's go together." I believe, instead of a direct connection between Mirrorcle World, GREEN, and Days, these songs have a direct connection to the song they are coupled with. In Mirrorcle World, I do not believe she is talking to anyone but herself when she alternates between I and You in the verses. In my opinion, she is simply talking to the old her, and the new her. Same as in Depend on you, it seems she could be talking to herself too. In 1998, she wrote: "Do you realize how far the goal you set out is?" in 2008, she wrote: "Did I imagine this future? Did you?" It seems like Mirrorcle World is the direct answer, 10 years into the future, to the question in Depend on you. She still can't believe or could have imagined what her goal would turn in to, 10 years after this question was asked. In 1998, she wrote: "Where should you go, and what should we do with these days that don't end" In 2008, she wrote: "They asked is this the beginning or the end?" It seems she still has a problem with the beginning and the end. Even though she may have realized where the end is, other's around her have not. In 1998, she wrote: "It's okay to rest your wings, because I'm here." In 2008, she wrote: "They asked if I gave up, or still holding on?" It seems here that even though she believed she could rest sometimes, People around her continue to push her, asking if she is just going to give up. For the last example, I wanna examine the second verse in Depend on you. When she asked if she will try to believe in a ray of light, or hide in the darkness. The line that interests me most in this response to Depend on you, is: "Was it that you turned on them, or was it that you were in despair?" In the first, and last verse of Mirrorcle World. Even though she herself said it was okay to fly away one day, Even though she reached out and tried to believe in the ray of light she asked if she could believe, The people around her couldnt accept the changes she wanted to make, And decided that she simply turned on them. Like Wada Akiko cell phone incident, like the Japanese public, etc. And they ask her, like she once asked herself "Are you hiding in the darkness? / Are you in despair?" But the crucial lyrics in that ones is: In 1998, she wrote: "If you are going to fly away, if that day comes, let's go together." In 2008, she wrote: "Didn't you tell me just to go forward?" And the last lyrics of Mirrorcle World tell us her true answer to Depend on you.. "Is it that I've become strong that I can be not crying, Or..." I believe the "or..." indirectly refers to the last line in Depend on you. The reason why she has become able to not cry, is not because she has become strong, although she certainly has, But because her story, and indeed songs, are no longer filled with "uncertainty and hope," as she wrote in Depend on you, but just hope. Even in Green, it is overflowing with hope. Even in talkin' 2 myself, the dark song, it is overflowing with hope. >"Through destruction, creation is born" The story of Ayumi Hamasaki has changed since Depend on you, And she has answered the questions she posed in that song from 10 years ago to herself. She is not the weak Ayumi Hamasaki who punished herself in monochrome by cutting her declaration that she is strong, And she is not the weak Ayumi Hamasaki who could not find her place. She herself wrote.. "Because I have all of you, I dont need a left ear. You will be my ear." EDIT: It takes only a very strong person to be able to say something like that, about such a necessary thing for a singer. She has found her place, and she has found out how to rest, And be at peace with herself. And she herself said in CDL 2007 ~ 2008 "I am never alone. You are never alone." Mirrorcle World, no matter how loud, or how powerful this song sounds, I think its a really actually just a song of hope, or endurance, and of content. A song that states "My original goal has not changed: to go forward. No matter how far that goal is, no matter how many times I am questioned, I will not play the victim and run away." Of course, the entirety of Mirrocle World runs as a response, at least in my opinion to Depend on you.. You can easily see the responses in those lyric. The response is: "I will not give up, even if the road is hard." I think what is also important in Mirrorcle World is she has posed a new set of questions for herself, or just one big one, to contemplate for her new mindframe: "The acceleration shows no signs of stopping, If we and this world continue on like this..." What will happen???? Sorry for the long one~ it took a bit much to write, but~ ^^) Of course, there are also some answers to YOU too, But I feel Depend on you and Mirrorcle World are almost brother and sister ahaha. Thats why I think she sang Depend on you, rather than poker face, TRUST, or For my dear, etc. To remind us of what she once asked herself. |

Blargh, analysing the PV made me realize how much it sucks. |
both interpretations are really interesting. i guess she was highlighting her most important themes this year?
|
I'm loving this thread. :P
I thought it was merely a coincidence, the writing of the lyrics and production of the videos, between each single of 2008. Since "freedom" is what she's been feeling, it's what's in her lyrics. But that "Depend on you" versus "Mirrorcle World" analysis/interpretation is pretty interesting. ;) |
I always enjoy reading your analysis maikaru :love
And interesting analysis Alucard from Hellsing! :D |
It takes me a long time~
Maybe an hour and a half to write it.. I feel it's practice to writing essays in english! ahaha But I felt so inspired, Because I listened to Depend on you from A Best And then Mirrorcle World right after... And I felt "ohhh inspiration!!!!!!" |

Whoa! That was a lot, but it was very interesting to read. That's really good analysis and really impressive! :D I haven't read Depend on you lyrics before. There really might be this kind of connection in Mirrorcle World, why not? Like she said in times of A Song for ×× she was trying to find herself in the music, like today. Following the connection between these songs there might as well be connection between Mirrorcle World & YOU. What kind of connection? You gave me idea. If Depend on you is about Ayu, then YOU is about Tomoya. So in MW she kinda talkin' 2 herself & again talkin' to Tomoya. 'Cuase Quote:
Connecting Mirrorcle World to Depend on you again it might be that Mirrorcle world behind the Mirror. At first it was just Mirror. So everybody said that it was about Tomoya, but as her main Anniversary song she just extended intro from GUILTY. But what about They ask me. What about they? They are fans Quote:
Back to the topic, this you in MW might be as well referred to fans? Like Depend on you & YOU both have you in their names. And as 3rd Anniversary she decided to re-sang Who... (If I'm not mistaken some one mention that it's dedicated to the fans, if not my whole theory is wrong:headache). I still think that there is connection between Days, GREEN & Mirrorcle World Music Videos. In RAINBOW she sings: That I was saved by love BUT in all three PV we may see that she's alone (I don't mean people around I mean in the way of LOVE), but this time she was saved by her friends (except GREEN). Even thought most of the people hates MW PV I think that it has meaning in it. The main thing (that migh be referred to both Doy & MW lyrics) that no matter what she'll keep moving froward. Even play-asia has their own opinion about Mirrorcle World Quote:
Oh, and Days-LOVE ~Destiny~ also should have connection? At this moment I've found only that they both about loosing love. And GREEN & TO BE TO BE: Even if I get it back, it will probably be a little different GREEN: When the trees come into bud again and the leaves are freshly green I want to show my smile more natural than now It's sounds like reBIRTH to me. Like she'll never be the same and she's reborn once again, after... After breaking up with Tomoya? After 10th Anniversary... Don't forget that was only my IMO.:rolleyes |
Days + Love ~Destiny~
= If you look directly at Love ~Destiny~, you can find some similiarities in the themes. In Love ~Destiny~ she says even the words they send back and forth to eachother have meaning if they are said by both. And in Days she says the words that they send back and forth to eachother are important treasures to her. And she says in Love ~Destiny~ that she will never forget, with just their meeting, with just their love. And in Days she says she just wants to be able to stay like this loving "you" forever. In both songs, it's a feeling of... "Well, I cannot change anything, but I love you, and will never forget." Of course, its not direct like Mirrorcle World and Depend on you, but the feeling of similar song is there. Also, I dont think Mirrorcle World has anything to do with Nagase. In the threads here, many many people continue to say "shes over him, she is okay." And I myself could see that one too now. She even said she was okay with the breakup, etc. I dont think she would waste time on directing a song to him. I think "They" is just everyone. The people who were once her fans, the people who hate her, etc. I dont think it's directed to her fans, because she knows that her fans really love to her. They know she will not give up, because she knows she will not give up~ Anyways, you are right about connections between Mirrorcle World and GREEN, But Days + Mirrorcle World is a bit hard to connect.. but I believe maybe its a possible. |
I think her songs really are connected: they show her weakness, her strength, her spirit from when she first started until now. She probably coupled them together as to say "this was my beginning" with questions and finished them with her own answers. i hope it makes sense...it's almost as if she's still enduring with the same issues as when she first started but now she accepts them and herself. It is very wise either way.

i think this is a common theme in many ayu songs..but nice catch
|
i thought there was kind of a connection as well after watching all three videos. (Mirrocle World, Green, Days)

Wow, I love your analysis. Those songs really do seem to be like a present and past dialogue with herself. And in this part: Quote:
"The age is rolling around at the speed to the end The age is rolling around at the speed to the end It has crossed the border line, and disappointment and hope are fighting with each other We can never return again to the place we used to be" |
maikaru, you are amazing!
