Ayu's Lyric

I don't know if this is the right place to post this or not and i've been searching everywhere but i can't find it.
My question is :
do the management or whoever involve with her albums check or approve her lyrcis first before proceed to recording?
like i saw some taiwanese artiste who wrote their own lyric need to let the management to have a look on the lyric.if they say ok,then only can proceed with recording.if not,(s)he need to re-write the whole lyric again.
so,what about ayu?did the management ask her to change the lyric?like to more acceptable by her fans or something like that?

I don't know about nowadays, but back during the release of her first album the record company did something like that. They told her that all her songs sounded too dark and they needed her to write a happy song for the album - so she wrote Powder Snow in defiance which is pretty much one of her darkest songs written.

oooh ayu so rebellious! :mischief

nanakopy87 18th April 2009 07:48 AM

wow...so means the management don't have the right to reject her lyrics?:lech

Ayumi_lover 18th April 2009 08:10 AM

look at rainbow recording video, you will see Ayu thinking about lyrics,
Of course avex reads her lyrics but I don't think it can refuse it.
Just I remembered case with I am album. IT was something like - album was recorded, even CM with preview of Naturally was on air and then - all lyrics were leaked.
But when album was released lyrics became different, so it was like - Ayu changed lyrics when it was leaked.
I've read about this case somewhere on AHS, old lyrics were on masa's site(if I recall well what I've read) but he replaced them by new ones.

nanakopy87 18th April 2009 08:15 AM

wow...re-record the song again??!!*respect respect*

noidea 18th April 2009 05:34 PM

^ She rewrote most lyrics after 9/11 to represent peace, at least wikipedia says so, but I never saw the leaked lyrics, somebody still got them?

chloeM 19th April 2009 04:31 AM

she actually wrote for 9/11?

nanakopy87 19th April 2009 06:33 AM

i thought the album I am (the album cover that has a dove) is about 9/11 incident?

pommy48 19th April 2009 06:35 AM

^ yeah apparently she had another idea for the cover, and then she just changed everything

I wonder about that too.. I believe given the popularity and her influence over the past years, she have gained authority and control over her music career.. Like I've watched in the Light and Shadow interview, Ayu seemed to have a huge influence over herself in her music and styles, so I perceived she had a major control of her lyrics and everything that goes into the production of her music.

I think this was in the TIME interview. From what I remember she was going to do a futuristic styled cover (I picture something like the Step YOU PV or Ayu all in black leather xDD)

I'd also like to see those original lyrics, I never heard about this before!

nanakopy87 21st April 2009 06:21 AM

ooo..i did read abit about the cover in TIME magazine...
its good to know that the lyrics are all original ones.i mean without modifications from other people other than ayu herself

jimex289 21st April 2009 07:06 AM

This was a big issue for her during her debut era and the years following it...whether or not writing dark songs means she's filled with a lot of despair and depression etc. It was also to disabuse people of the whole notion that sad = bad. TIME interview stated that no one can take her songs away from her, indicating that her lyrics are hers alone. They most definitely look at her lyrics but I don't think they can do much with regards to censoring; she has her own way of writing that's made her so successful at connecting with her fans. It is because she takes pride in writing her own original lyrics that I think there would be a HUGE problem if avex encroaches on this one thing she holds the dearest even if she has nothing else. They wouldn't be that controlling because I know she'd leave and we have to remember that her closest avex ally is none other than the CEO of avex who discovered her and suggested she write her songs in the first place. The stuff she puts out more or less concerns her own private experiences/life and something like that would affect her own publicity only, not avex's image or reputation. Provided the lyrics we've seen weren't already "changed", I don't see any reason why they'd have her change anything because in no way is it directly detrimental to her label.

mimika 25th April 2009 06:09 AM

I agree

I don't think she would let management get 'involved' in her lyrics in anyway

it's the thing dearest to her

and given her status (remember the max matsuura incident?) in the company...I don't think the company dare to do anything like that to her

Andrenekoi 25th April 2009 06:40 AM

After the releasing of alterna pv, I'm pretty sure she does whatever she wants xD

Delirium-Zer0 26th April 2009 06:14 AM

Yeah, if avex were really hands-on with her material, the "alterna" video would have NEVER made it onto TV.

lfe. 26th April 2009 07:18 AM

OT but nice to see you back Deli :)
